Specialties
Persimmon specializes in the therapeutic care and rehabilitation of chronic pain as a result of physical and/or emotional trauma. Maria Corrales, trained in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach, offers a highly skilled and intuitive touch to address and resolve the root causes of pain and dysfunction, rather than simply addressing the symptoms. This leads to the deepest level of healing with long-lasting benefits. You can read more about Myofascial Release and massage techniques at www.persimmonlife.org.
History
Established in 2011.
Maria Corrales, the owner of Persimmon Bodywork, began working as a certified massage therapist in 2007 after receiving close to 500 hours of classroom training, and countless hours of mentorship under a master therapist. She has worked as a hands-on instructor for the massage school, Chico Therapy Wellness Center. Maria has shared her skills in Costa Rica, India, and even in the South African bush on tetanus-stricken baboons.
In 2011, Maria traveled to northern India where she studied yoga intensively and received her 200-hr Yoga Alliance approved teaching credential.
Over time, Maria grew frustrated as she came up against the therapeutic limits of massage work. Intuitively, she recognized that Myofascial Release would take things to the next level. She continues to train with John Barnes, and as a result her therapy practice is catapulting to new, breath-taking levels of healing.
