Chino Hills Econo Lube N’tune & Brakes

Don’t not go!!! They will screw with your smog and try to give you with a laundry list of other things they can fix for so much$$$$$$ not cool hubby looked at results we did but they twisted the paper work that we didn’t. Go only to smog ck only!!!

Econo lube in chino hills is the most corrupt establishment. We went to get the smog check so the test was performed. Well car failed the smog. Mr. Nick suggested that they can fix the car and it will cost between $ 500 to $ 700.00. And once they fix the car they can re do the smog test and that test will be free.
Guess what, we took the car to another place and they changed the catalytic converter and that’s what it was required to be done for the car to pass smog test. So how much did it cost. $ 145.00 NOT $ 500. Or $ 700. What a rip off!
Once this repair was fone we took the car back to econo lube chino hills. First they they said that the part that was replaced was not the correct one. Once that was verified that it was the right part, now their machine is out of order. We have checked with them few times and their machine is still out of order. They bluntly say take your car some where else.
Hey folks. before you go to Econo Lube in chino hill, do check with other facilities. The trust you have on these guys will keep ripping off over and over again.
Btw.we are filing their complain with government regulating authority also.

My first time here at Econo Chino Hills. Joe has been awesome trying to fix my 2009 Kia Rio. The check engine light came on & was really shaky. I brought it here (on a Sunday, THANK GOD they’re open). Of course, everything looked good & nothing seemed to be wrong (my luck). Joe decided to wave the diagnostics fee. I’m definitely bringing my car back here if anything else is wrong with my car. Awesome customer service! Thanks Joe :)

this shop steals stuffs from your car and will lie to get a repair. i was told that my car would not run for long if i opt out when they offered the total check up at 100k miles (i brought the car in near 110k) and now it is at 126k miles and still run fines. there was nothing wrong with alignment or steering as they described — i have it checked at another shop. not cool. should realize from all the negative reviews and the not recommended reviews that this shop will not have returned customers because of the way they try to make their customers victims of their fraud.

I took my car in last week and the service was great. They looked over the entire car because I had just purchased it at an auction for my daughter to drive. They did a tune up, fixed a couple of leaks and guaranteed their work for a year. Awesome manager.

Terrible service!!! Don’t fulfill their promises. Very Unethical!!! will never use this shop again even after the $ 60 credit they gave me for such poor service!!! I wouldn’t give this place even half a star but Unilocal doesn’t allow to post a review without a star.

WOW… I highly do not recommend this business. I brought my car in for an oil change and they didn’t even put my engine cover back on properly. There are pins missing and they couldn’t even take the time to screw and tighten the 2 locking screws to tighten the engine cover. They just left all the pins and screws loose. I came home and had to tighten them myself and I’m missing several pins now.
The main reason why I have lost all trust in them is because they also said I need to replace my waterpump. Even though I was only there for an oil change. They quoted $ 500 and said it would take all day. I have done my own inspection and found no flaws with the water pump or radiator. They said there is a leak and it could cause my engine to explode. My car is parked in a clean driveway and there are no fluids or water dripping from the car. The car AC is ice cold and the engine has never over heated. I even listened to the engine and I don’t hear any loose bearings. The main thing he said it was leaking but there are no leaks or fluids. And saying my engine could explode is extreme. I can buy and new pump and bottle of antifreeze for under $ 50 and change it myself in under 3 hours if there was actually something wrong with it. Don’t go here.

INCOMPETENT, UNREASONABLE & UNETHICAL. This is the WORST experience that my husband and I have ever had anywhere!
It’s always risky taking your car in to an auto shop when your car’s engine lights come on, because you don’t know what’s wrong, how much it will cost nor if you can trust the mechanic. This place not only solidifies those doubts, but goes above and beyond to give the profession a bad reputation.
My husband took my car to check out why the engine lights came on. This place was recommended by a relative who has been a loyal 10+ year customer. The mechanic took off the plastic dirt cover on the bottom front wheel well to access the inside and replace an O2 sensor, but failed to properly secure the panel before handing over the car. On the drive back from the shop, the plastic panel came loose and dragged as my husband drove on the freeway. It was hard to tell what was wrong with the car in the dark so he took precaution and towed it back home. Upon further inspection the next morning, we discovered the panel hanging from the front of the car tattered from abrasive contact with tire and concrete. When we called the owner, Nick, to tell him about the issue, he acted like he was going to take responsibility to fix the mistake and refund us for the towing fee. Sounds great right? Well, that’s what we thought too.
When we brought in the car back, Nick said that because my family has been such loyal customers, that this one mistake was nothing. As if he was being generous, but all the while insinuating that he’s made enough money off them already that far exceeds his losses for this mistake. It was crass to say the least, but at least he had his mechanic attempt to resecure the panel. Fastening a plastic panel should really be an amateur job as it simply requires being diligent in making sure that the screws are fastened properly. However, after getting his word that the plastic panel is secure, we took off. Within ten minutes of leaving his shop, we heard familiar scraping noises again.. .
My husband pulled off to a parking lot and inspected the area which should have been secured. Lo and behold, the panel was visibly loose and still not properly secured, with multiple screws loose. HOW DO YOU MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE? It is a SIMPLE procedure, no motors, no electrical, only requiring the fastening of one plastic part and we’ve already identified the problem for him. This is an amateur job and his shop couldn’t even get it right on the second attempt. Worse still is that Nick refuses to take ownership of his mechanic’s sloppy handiwork.
At the side of the road, my husband got on the phone with Nick immediately and gave Nick the option to either reimburse us for the cost of getting the panel fixed/​replaced elsewhere or refund us what we paid. At this point, Nick lost all credibility. Nick said he preferred that we drive back during the week, then got angry when we pointed out to him that it was his shop’s second instance of carelessness that caused this problem in the first place. We live in San Diego and there is no way that we are taking off work and driving 120 miles so this guy can screw it up again. Nick hung up on us, twice!
Now there’s the added risk of damage to the tire tread with the friction between rubber and plastic panels. I have to pay to fix his repeated mistake and a new panel. What is Nick’s response to the obvious fact that his mechanic’s error led to the dirt cover panel being destroyed, grating the tire treads, wasting our time, mileage and gasoline? «Your car is a 2004, it’s old and it’s going to break down». It comes as little surprise that one of the other one-​star reviewers on Unilocal heard the exact same line from Nick — it’s not his fault, it’s your car’s fault for being old!!!
We are sharing our experience so readers will not waste their time, money and breath.
If you ever find yourself at this auto shop, please make sure that your car is brand new and in tip-​top shape, because the only way you would be satisfied with the service here is if there was nothing wrong with your car in the first place. But be warned, your car may come out more broken than before.. .:(

Awesome service by honest mechanics. Took my vehicle in for an oil change and it was done in no time.

Been coming here for awhile and it has always been a great experience everytime. Staff very friendly, informative, honest, and extremely helpful. Pricing is very reasonable and to top it all off their manager Joe is awesome! He always shows excellent customer service and he is very knowledgeable. He is able to break it down and explain things in simple terms. Truly recommend coming here!

Quick and very friendly customer service! It was the first place I thought of to take my car to get checked when it started making a started making a strange noise. I trust their recommendations and don’t feel like they’re trying to make more money ogg you like some other places.

I bring my Tahoe and Charger for service here and Joe the manager always takes care of me. Great service and great pricing everytime.

Today 4÷18÷14, I drove to Lube N’ Tune in Chino Hills to have an oil change… I was highly pleased with the customer service of the manager. He was closing the shop when I arrived but took the time to do my oil change. He also took the time to answer concerns about my car I had just purchased with recommendations on what needed to be repaired. His great service and time allowed me to consider returning to see him again for additional services. Thank you, thank you, thank you… I will be in to see them again. I highly recommend this shop. I got a great price for my oil change with a smile.

I would honestly highly recommend this place over any other place. The manager, Joe, is amazing honest and straight forward. Oil changes are the cheapest here and generally speaking prices are really good here. The service is really great too! Gotta go check this place out AND ask for Joe!

We’ve been bringing our family’s cars here for over a decade. They do great work and are very honest. They are expensive, but they stand by their work and are trustworthy.

Terrible customer service skills. We took our classic International Scout to repair the driveshaft. Whilst repairing the driveshaft they manage to brake the handle on the passenger door. We asked them to either fix it or reimburse us for the $ 36.00 it cost to replace it. (Yes 36.00 dollars). When we picked up the vehicle the tech called the owner Nick who told us that it was not his responsibility.
Nick showed up and I kindly advised him that if he deducted 36 dollars yes again a mere 36 dollars from the total we would be square. He again stated that it was an old car and not his responsibility. While I am not dealing with mechanic shop owners I dabble in my chosen profession of being an attorney. I did explain how much it would cost him if I sued him for the 36.00. I am pretty expensive 450 an hour so I did tell him I would charge him for filing fees, attorneys fees and the fact that I would no longer replace the handle myself but send it to a «mechanic» to replace and fix the broken handle.
He managed to tell me he didn’t want customers like me (I wonder if he meant, women, attorneys or maybe honest people). Any who I won’t be taking any vehicle to him and hope that no one else does so either. We live in a small community and we only want to deal with honest and courteous people that want to stay in business.

DO NOT go to Econo lube. They ripe people off and the work they do sucks. Way over priced…

DO NOT GO HERE! One star cuz I have to and for them taking my car in when they about to close.
I took my car n here for a smog check. So $ 60 + $ 11 for registration fees + some other fees cuz it’s a pre 1996 vehicle. Ok fine. Smog failed and I had them diagnose cuz I didn’t have much time. My initial thought tells me it’s my egr but again, I didn’t have time so I had them do it. $ 75 for them to jus look at it if no repairs. The deal is, if you have them fix it, resmog is «free» + your repair fees. If not, resmog is another $ 62. I had them fix it cuz either way, I would be spending at least $ 120. I don’t trust mechanics as I’m pretty mechanically inclined myself. But I already bit the dust, so what the hell. Low and behold after all said n done, they said it was the EGR and it will be $ 120 to fix it and resmog, done deal. I’m thinking, how hard is it to clean out EGR, but fine, I passed. So since I don’t trust other shops, after i got home, i removed the EGR myself! Well, WTF!!! its covered in Carbon! my first instinct is, those mofos never even cleaned it, scammed my ass. I’m wondering if anyone passed smog there the first time? So either they never touched my EGR or they did some b.s. wiping just to pass, which is still not acceptable to me. I’m not looking for a chrome finish or polished clean, but this thing was NOT cleaned at all. I took it out and cleaned it and hella stuff came out. If you go here, becareful. I’m sure your car will be fixed, but won’t be cheap and you aren’t dealing w/​honest people.
