Drove by and see their opening up as yet another sushi place. I think thats 3 now?

Such a step up from the previous owners! I was super impressed with the freshness, quality and service at Haru Haru. We tried several rolls — all of the tempura rolls are really good. I enjoyed the crunchy caterpillar, but my favorite was the Hot Night Roll. I swear to you, I cannot remember what was in it, but order it. It was delicious. Also, our server was very friendly and polite. They have big screen TVs inside so we were able to catch the Laker’s game. I will definitely be coming back for a relaxed chilled atmosphere at Haru Haru.

The family decided to try this place out after my son’s gym class. We should have fasted. I ordered the chirashi bowl, and it was swimming in a pool of water. The worker in the back rinsed the lettuce, but apparently didn’t think to drain the water. I thought it was their soupy version of this bowl. We ordered a platter of sashimi. These are the places where you thank the lord there is soy sauce. Chino Hills is not known as a food mecca. However, this place really needs to be skipped.

This place is okay. Not the best or the freshest. It’s over priced for what it is, but it’ll make you full. I give them two stars because at least they always give you some type of appetizer on the house.

Food and ambiance were great… the service was even better! I overheard another customer say this place has been recently renovated, and whether or not that is true, I CAN say the service was phenomenal, the food was fantastic, and our bellies were FULL! Traditionalists will love the sashimi… fresh and savory! The experimentalists should try the Stuffed Jalepeno Peppers! I would never have tried them if it weren’t for my girlfriends adventurous appetite. Glad I got a taste! Bottom line: if you want sushi, sashimi, or Japanese deliciousness… this place will MORE than satisfy.

I’ve been coming here for years with my family. This place has some really good rolls. I’ve tried just about everything here and I love the rainbow rolls. I think their food is so fresh and tasty. The staff are really nice and friendly. I’m never disappointed when I come here and it’s in a great location.

We go here often. I find the service OK — often understaffed or inexperienced servers. This is a management issue. Sushi is pretty good and usually fresh. Rolls are amazing. Ambience is fine, place seems clean but we were there about a week ago and saw a B rating. Hmmmmmm

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. They give free miso soup, edamame, and green tea ice cream!(most of the time the ice cream is free but sometimes it’s not, I don’t know why) I’m not even that big of a fan of green tea ice cream but for some reason theirs is REALLY good. Sometimes, when it’s not too busy or if it takes a while to get our order, the chef gives us complimentary sushi too. I give it four stars because the pricing was okay. I wish it was a little cheaper so I could go more often. The ½ priced sushi aren’t as good as the full priced ones. So if you don’t know what to order you might have a bad experience because some of their food choices aren’t that good.

I love their baked mussels here! Once seated, they serve you with complimentary miso soup and edamame without even taking your order. It’s not the greatest, but hey it’s FREE! I usually order the 3 item bento box. My fav combo is the baked mussels, salmon sashimi, and tempura. All were fairly good. The salmon sashimi pieces are pretty big. Not the freshiest IMO but still good. The baked mussels are BOMB! I love the dynamite sauce on it! Tempura is good, crispy and good variety of veggies included. Service is okay. Most times I go it’s prompt, but the last time I went it was really poor, hence why I took away a star. When we first arrived, lots of the tables were dirty and needed to be cleared off. Then she didin’t really check on us or provided refills. Hopefully next time it’ll be better. They also offer ½ off on basic sushi items like the california roll and eel roll. =)

Great employees, terrible value on the sushi and sashimi. Haru Haru is a Korean chain so it’s not very authentic. You have to try Ojiya down the street if you want legit Japanese food. The korean sushi chefs made the sushi and sashimi pieces so small I was thinking maybe they were rationing the fish like there was a 9.0 earthquake in cali? Even though the sushi was discounted, it still wasn’t worth it. The Haru in Brentwood off of Wilshire had pieces of sashimi that are 3 times bigger. I spent $ 25 on lunch, and had to get a burrito at chipotle afterward to fill up. AVOIDTHISPLACE!

This place is just ok. I had been here a few times a few years ago was never impressed and I am still not impressed. Dont think I will be coming here again unless its the only restaurant in all of Chino Hills that is still open. Service is Ok. food is meh.

I used to frequent this place back on the day when sushi choices were far & few in Chino Hills but times have changed. Sushi joints are a dime a dozen and good ones are getting scarce. This place USED to be good and after lasts night’s dinner I won’t be returning. Nara had an hour wait and I wasn’t having that so the hubby mentioned this place and off we went. Service was great but the food was ehh… I got the bento box dinner & the sesame chicken tasted old & bitter. :(The sushi was ½ off(I wonder why?). It sucked that I wasted my $ on off food cause I could have saved a ton & got in & out instead.

They’re trying, but this experience had me thinking, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» The roll was just ok and on the costly side, the drink prices were high(no happy hour available), and the ginger was strangely mushy. Meh, go to yoko yoko up Grand in db.

This place is good. Especially the sushi chef named Andrew Choi. He has spent the last 9 years dedicated to the art of sushi making and his sole purpose is to make sure that«yo rice is nice» and«yo fish is de-lish». His sushi training started back when he was a child when he used to pick fish right from the sea. As he got older he learned how to cook rice… by looking at it. In order to perfect his craft, he makes sure that the chopsticks in the restaurant are made of redwood or oak. He says that it compliments the pallet and makes the difference between walking in heaven and walking in heaven barefoot. On the real, this place is legit, Big portions and free miso soup. That makes miso happy! My suggestion, sit at the bar. The sushi chefs are cool as hell. Andrew Choi– visionary.philosopher.sushi artist.

My second favorite sushi spot! Their rolls are BIG compared to other sushi places I’ve tried. To me, it’s worth the $ 9 – 12. It’s also the only place I know that’s close-by and serves free miso soup and edamame! I always like to try white tuna, albacore, and salmon sashimi. But I like the albacore the best. Of course, I’ll have my fave rolls. I suggest, snow-cone roll, philly crunch, and tiger roll. You could sit at the bar ’cause the chefs are real nice!

I use to come here on a regular basis then i all of a sudden stopped going. When i did come here the one roll that i did enjoy was the snow corn roll. It’s Haru haru’s specialty roll… all i know is that it had baked salmon on top and it was absolutely mouth watering. I also would get their yakisoba. It’s so good and the portions are large, served to you hot and sizzling on a pan. there are better sushi places around the area that i would prefer going to. The prices and the sushi at this place just doesn’t cut it for me.

I came here with some co-workers unexpectedly when we were just looking for a quick bite. When I walked in, I was not impressed with the décor. Just fluorescent lighting, white tile floors and drab paint… oh my! What’s a gay to do in this place? Now, now… I’m not a food snob or design whore, but this place is definitely not what you’d expect in a sushi place. And the lack of décor and my first-timer intuition told me not to order sushi at this place, so I stuck with the cooked food. Not sure if the sushi is actually good, but I couldn’t take any chances. I can’t fault them for it since I didn’t have any sushi, but if I were the owner, I’d try to dress the place up a bit, especially with all the harsh competition in Chino Hills these days. Put some paint on the walls, bring in soft lighting like lamps and light fixtures, and think about putting some bamboo floors in. I need my own show on HGTV. Anyways, back on topic! For the experience that I had, here are the highlights: — Great for lunch… not too crowded. — Wow… they give you a lot of edimame here. — Thanks for the complimentary stuffed jalapeños! — Got the tempura udon bowl and it was delish! Get a side of something for $ 3.00 more and you’ll be completely satisfied. I recommend the sesame chicken. — Our service was great. Next time, I might brave the sushi. They have 40 different rolls on their menu!

This is one of my staples. I call ahead for rolled and soy beans, pick it up on the way home from work and eat it at home, but the restaurant is always clean and always fairly busy. The staff is friendly and the portions are plentiful. I’m into the Spicy Rainbow Roll or Hot Night Roll! The location in Brea is good too!

Great Sushi — Pricing a little on the high side. A nice neighborhood spot to hang out and see people you haven’t seen in a while. If the prices were a little more reasonable I would go A LOT more often. Also, Dippin Dot’s Ice cream is right next door which makes the experience THATMUCHBETTER! WOOHOO :)
