YEE: The Pub at Chino Hills

Coming all the way out to the East side, now that’s what I’m talking about. Wait, keep going, you aren’t there yet until you hit Chino Hills. Then go down the 71 a little further down. You’re just about there. This is a really big restaurant that could be mistaken for a sports bar because there are quite a few TVs around the huge bar. As everyone gets seated, a few of us takes a seat right in the lounge area. Yes, we are sitting on the soft leather couch. We get a drink and then we get pork belly that is fried. Imagine thick cut bacon and keep imagining because these require 3 bites but I had a few more pieces because these things are like crack. Fried Pork Belly Bites is what you should order when you want appetizers. Next came the Duck Confit potato wedges with fig wedges. I like potatoes with lots of sauce or something but I still ate it with the duck on top and the fig wedges was a sweet way to round out the saltiness of this one. Cannot stop there when you get duck chorizo tacos. This is just the appetizers paired with a drink for each dish.
As we moved to the dining area, here comes coconut curry mussels to the table. The curry sauce was great and the mussels were great. You can eat the mussels without the curry but what’s the point if you leave that out. Shrimp Papian with this corn bread or corn fritter was such a great dish, I can only order another dish just so I can say it has as many shrimps in this dish as you would see at Boiling Crab but with a different sauce you don’t have to wear a bib for. I’m not a popcorn fan but that is what you’ll see at the table instead of peanuts at some restaurants. It’s topped with truffle oil if that helps you but I’m not a popcorn person. What I am a fan of is the flight of beer that is alongside each dish when this Buffalo burger in a slider trio comes to the table. You would think this is going to end the flight but the one dish that comes out is Clam Chowder Gnocchi. Lord have mercy as I am either going to explode or have a heart attack with all this great food. I already know which is my favorite to order when I come back here.
On to the outdoor patio for dessert. Luckily we shall be spared with just one dessert dish after a barrage of dishes for appetizers and main courses. A few were shared but this would exceed the all you can eat stage if you are counting how many dishes we have consumed. What ends the evening is this bread pudding with ice cream paired with The Pub Fashioned which is their version of the old fashioned. Can someone call Über or Lyft please? Food coma has officially set in for me. Packages were passed out to every guest. More popcorn and gift cards to come back for appetizers and entrée. Unbelievable food and presentation by The Pub and the owners. Katie has found a gem to share with us Unilocalers which I am a happy camper leaving with an overstuffed belly. We shut this place down and no one had any plans for an after party. That’s how much food and drinks we had. Thank you Katie for a great event.

This was a pretty awesome Unilocal Elite Event :) LA East went pretty far east! But hey the Pub was cool! I thought the bar food and drinks were quite delicious. The staffs and owner were really cool and friendly. They were able to make everyone feel comfortable. It was fun listening the stories and creation of the menu. Very rarely do I get to sample some food and drinks from a restaurant so I was pretty excited before arriving to the event. And it was definitely cool meeting new Unilocal elites around the area S/​O to Jessica, Jess, & Kathleen! And many thanks to Jessica and the Pub for organizing the event.
Highlights:
Love the Buffalo Burger, that was my fav! Wish I had more. The patty was really juicy and savory at a perfect medium rare. The cheese was so gooey and not overpowering.
The pork belly here was awesome. It was like eating a big piece of bacon, super fatty and crispy. Definitely thought the pork belly was dry though. Yay for raspberry cocktail!
The banana bread pudding was a good way to end the night. Icecream to the side and the warm banana bread pudding with raisins. Yummm
Didn’t really expect such pub like this to be out in Chino Hills. Normally I go to Woodranch for the happy hours but I wouldn’t mind coming out here a little more. Really enjoyed this event cause of the peeps. I really got to enjoy everything about this restaurant from the bar to the dining room to the patio outside. It was great!

Not sure what to add to the fabulously comprehensive reviews from my fellow elite… this was a fantastic YEE. The owners and manager were so nice and hospitable to our group, shutting down the restaurant for this event so they could give us their full attention and best service. I truly appreciated that. I could tell they were very dedicated to their business and the message they wanted to send with their food and drink. So much heart! They put a lot of thought into their dishes, serving up some interesting global dishes. Even their curation of beers were well thought out, and highlighted local brews. Cheers to that.
Perhaps is it still too avant garde for the sleepy suburb of Chino Hills? But I’m sure the town will/​has already begun to slowly realize it has a great restaurant in the neighborhood. Will be suggesting it as a local waterhole to coworkers for happy hour. Can’t wait to come back if the weather ever cools down enough to enjoy a few Pub Fashioneds by the patio fire pits.

Jessica H and the owners of The Pub have created a night that any Unilocal Elite could hope for — good food, good company, good drinks, and an itinerary that forced (and I mean this as a compliment) us to meet different people when we were starting on a different portion of course.
While driving to The Pub forced me to drive to a portion of Chino Hills I didn’t even know existed before, I was surprised to find The Pub showcases a sports bar like atmosphere flanked by a large balcony on the outside, and a more private indoor dining area on the other. We were shepherded from one portion of The Pub to another as we moved from small bites to entrees to dessert. As a result, the seating differences between each area increased the likelihood we would be seated with different individuals.
Just coming back from a trip to Canada, I thought the buffalo burger we were served was actually better than the one I had in the town of Jasper, and I have to thank Yvette T. for saving me a piece of the delectable fried pork belly bites.
Although I wish I had a better taste (and memory) for the alcohol, I can definitely tell you that we feasted well on the rest of the sliders and enjoyed some real standouts, like the clam chowder gnocchi and the bread pudding with ice cream.

~Orange Rosemary — Another cocktail that staved-​off scurvy and masked the vodka taste.

Service — From start to finish, everything ran smoothly! The drinks were flowing, the food constantly came out, and smiles abound. Major shout-​outs to the principles of the restaurant — Andrew, Chris and Matthew — this was a kick-​arse job!
Parking (Free) — Located within an outdoor shopping center, there were plenty of spots in this medium-​large parking lot they shared with several businesses; ’nuff said.
Atmosphere, décor, ambience — A spacious layout with an obvious sports bar feel as you entered into a sea of tall wooden chairs and tables, a large welcoming bar, and TVs galore as alternative music played in the background. However, there were two other distinct areas of the restaurant: a more sit down dinner area to the right, and a relaxing outdoor patio area with several fire pits to the left. Although there appeared to be a ton of items throughout, they were neatly kept. Plenty of electric lighting filled the restaurant while capable natural lighting spilled in through the large windows and patio area.
Attire — It was totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-​shirt, boardshorts, and flip-​flops. It was the evening, so I classed it up a bit with a pair of jeans instead.
Overall, praise to LA East CM Katie B., her MA Jessica H., and the entire staff at The Pub At Chino Hills. The event was professionally managed, and the gluttony of gastropub drinks and food made me swoon! I finally met longtime Unilocal friend, Queenie I., made new friends in Johnson K. and Rj S. and more, and reconnected with Tim C., and Richard L. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total paid experience was around $ 10.00; tip only). Although not needed, my credit card of choice was accepted… AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Starting off with… Appetizers:
Pork belly bites — If this was my last dish, I would have eaten all of it, but knowing we had a lot more bites to try, I had to resist myself! These were outstanding. I LOVE PORK BELLY. Perfectly cooked and fried. So flavorful.
Duck Chorizo Tacos — One of the best bites of the night! My mouth is watering while thinking about these tacos. JUST GO TRY IT ALREADY.
Duck Confit Potato Wedges — Reminded me of those potato skins + wedges + mashed potatoes all in one bite. Potato lovers unite!
Entrees:
Silders (3) — Buffalo burger was good, cooked to a medium. Tasty and flavorful. The Pub melt — my favorite out of these sliders. Oooozing with gruyère cheese, wish I had a whole piece. I LOVE MELTS. Apple grilled cheese — Another one thats sweet then it surprises you this that kick of spiciness. «There sweet then they’re…spicy» — sourpatch. heh
Shrimp pipian — That cornbread or corn «tart» with that shrimp in mexican mole sauce… The cornbread was a bit random, but I like cornbread, so it was a nice surprise.
Coconut Curry Mussels — Very flavorful and rich. There was a lot of curry for the amount of mussels they had. I felt like I needed some rice on the side, so I can continue eating.
Clam Chowder Gnocchi — Well this is the first that I’ve seen gnocchi in clam chowder! Guess it works out and makes the dish more interesting using gnocchi and not the usual regular chopped up potatoes.
Dessert:
Bread pudding — I’m not a big fan of bread pudding… but I loved the caramel salted ice cream that came with it! YUM!
Drinks:
Raspberry Sage — I love whiskey. I love this drink. Can I have s’moree? Maybe I’ll switch out the JD with another type of whiskey, next time though. JD reminds me of them college days.
Orange Rosemary — Made with vodka. This was a refreshing drink. I can totally see myself drinking this during the day, but a little bit more vodka please :)
Pub Fashion — Old fashion pretty much with Bullet rye! I can drink this all night.
I will definitely be coming back to this place. Awesome service and staff.

A kickass Unilocal event! Very well organized and it was a treat to see the pub shut down for just us. Kinda felt like a «red carpet» experience.
APPETIZERS:
Pork belly bites: BIG PIECES of fried crispy-​on-​the-​outside-​but-​perfectly-​chewy-​inside pork belly bites with a crème fresh dipping sauce and lemon wedge. Very flavorful and portion was a pretty decent size
Duck Chorizo Tacos — WHAT? YES. you read correctly. AMAZING and my favorite of the night. The taco had a great flavor and was topped with cheese and slaw and came with a great salsa sauce. Not too oily like most tacos. SO GOOD.
Duck confit potato wedges: loaded potato wedges topped with good sized pieces of duck meat topped with a goat cheese spread and fig sauce on top of a bed of arugula. I’m not a huge fan of goat cheese myself, BUT the dish was actually really tasty.
ENTREES:
3 sliders: The Pub melt — my favorite burger/​slider. Bone marrow with melting gruyère cheese with beef. So good. Buffalo burger: tasty, good flavor, buffalo meat wasn’t cooked too dry. Apple grilled cheese: spicy cheese with jalapenos and apples. The spicy and sweet mix was actually surprisingly good!
Shrimp pipian: shrimp cooked with a good salsa mole sauce paired with chunks of cornbread. Cornbread was made perfectly. The two items on the dish were made deliciously but I’m not too sure on how well it went together.
Coconut curry mussels: my 2^nd favorite dish of the night. Bountiful mussels in a curry broth and pieces of sausage. SO GOOD. I wanted a bowl of rice to eat with the delicious curry. Mussels were cooked perfectly and the sausage pieces added a great bonus to the already good bowl. Came with 2 slices of sourdough bread that was so good after sopping up the curry sauce YUM.
Clam chowder gnocchi: I’m always a sucker for clam chowder, this was nice and thick with clams and bacon and had pieces of gnocchi all over. I don’t personally love gnocchi, but the chowder was great
Dessert:
Bread pudding a la mode! This was REALLY good. I’m not a huge fan of bread pudding but it was very good and very sweet. I did however eat up all the salted caramel ice cream: D
Raspberry sage: not a fan of JD so if you don’t like whiskey, don’t try this. The good thing was that the raspberry and sage did mask the flavor of the whiskey. The drink was refreshing though and sweet.
Orange rosemary: made with VODKA (we’re BFFs.) COuldn’t taste the alcohol and the orange really mixed well with rosemary. EXTREMELY refreshing and pretty good
The pub fashion: VERY STRONG, so that’s GOOD but again, not a whiskey gal so… i didn’t finish this.
Beer flight: 2 IPAs and a wheat beer. I liked the 2 IPAs: one from claremont craft ales which is a local brewery I like and the other that was a pineapple coconut IPA. VERY tasty, I liked it. The blood orange wheat beer was not my personal favorite.

So incredibly happy and thankful I was able to get into and attend this event! Have to thank Jessica as well as the incredibly friendly owners and staff of the Pub at Chino Hills for hosting our group!
The pub itself is thoughtfully constructed. Cozy outdoor seating with armchairs centered around fireplaces as well as a few tables and chairs; bar area for people to chat as well as high tables and chairs; dining area for people who are more intent on eating. Decorations and signs located around the pub reflect on beers, wines, etc. Dim lighting, but overall a really cozy place to catch up with friends or have a relaxed night out.
Appetizers:
–Popcorn with duck fat drizzled on top. I’m not a fan of popcorn, but these were really good. I couldn’t really taste much flavor, but I didn’t want to stop eating. I think the duck fat drizzled over the popcorn just made me want to keep munching. That, and the fact that I was pretty hungry.
–Fried pork belly bites! Yes, this dish was as good as it sounds. I think this was my favorite out of the entire night. You can’t go wrong with pork belly, and you really can’t go wrong with frying things, so when you put it together, the combination is pretty awesome. It came with a fine herb crème fraiche and some lemon, which I thought helped balance the natural saltiness of the pork belly. The crème fraiche was pretty light and refreshing, and with the added acidity of the lemon, helped add enough flavor to the really tasty pork belly.
–Duck chorizo tacos: pretty yummy! Lots of shredded duck, but I piled on a lot of salsa onto my taco because I really liked the acidity of the salsa. I don’t know if I would ever order this dish again, just because I’m not a big fan of duck tacos.
–Duck confit potato wedges: This came with a fig reduction and herbed goat cheese. I appreciated the flavors of the dish — cheese melted on the potato wedges along with the fig salad — but I am not a fan of goat cheese … at all, so I didn’t enjoy the dish as much as other people did.
–Slider trio: This was another favorite of mine. We were able to try the Buffalo, Pub Melt, and Apple Grilled Cheese. I liked the Pub Melt the most because the Gruyère and cheddar cheese really helped make the flavors pop. But the Apple Grilled Cheese and the Buffalo were also really tasty. Cheddar and apples — good combo, and the mushrooms in the Buffalo helped add to the flavor of the burger,
Signature dishes:
–Shrimp pipian: Mexican mole with a corn tart and some greens. The dish was presented very well. I really liked the shrimp and the mole, but I was not a fan of the corn tart. It was too soft and sweet for my liking and did not go well with the shrimp.
–Clam Chowder Gnocchi: Since we were doing this family style, it was a little hard to share this dish, especially since we had plates and forks. But we managed and we all were able to try some gnocchi along with the clam chowder. I thought it was okay, but a little too salty for my taste. There didn’t seem to be too many gnocchi pieces inside of the soup. From what I tried, it tasted pretty good, but I definitely would have liked more!
–Coconut Curry Mussels: This dish looked as awesome as it sounded! There were crostinis, lots of mussels, sausages all loaded inside of a flavorful curry broth. But when I eat curry, I definitely enjoy rice along with it. It felt strange just eating the mussels and sausages and not being able to enjoy the flavor of the coconut curry with some rice or bread. The curry was a bit too salty to eat by itself. Other than that, there were lots of mussels, tomatoes, sausages that really filled me up.
Dessert:
–Bread pudding … was really good! I was already so full, but I managed to get it down. It came with a decadent scoop of salted caramel ice cream and a brandy caramel sauce. Needless to say, I felt REALLY full after the dessert. Good texture to the bread pudding, and wasn’t too heavy.
Drinks! I’m not a fan of beer, but I can definitely appreciate good cocktails!
–Raspberry Sage: VERY strong and I could really taste the alcohol. But, it wasn’t too overbearing, and the raspberry and cranberry juice helped balance out the flavors of this dish. I waited until it was watered down before I actually finished it.
–Orange Rosemary: This drink was definitely my favorite of the night! It was sweeter and didn’t have as much bitterness as the Raspberry Sage did.
–Beer flight: I liked the Blood Orange Wit the most, but even then, it was a little too much for me.
–The Pub Fashioned: Could really taste the smoothness of the drink, but too bitter for my liking.
Overall, a great event where we met the owners and staff and really got to understand their vision for The Pub. We were given some vouchers for free food, so definitely will be back soon!

Thank you to the owners and staff at The Pub at Chino Hills, and to Jessica! What a wonderful night of discovery!!! I had seen this place and had thoughts of dropping in, but never had. Now, i know I will be back with friends.
Let’s start with what I always like to start with… dessert! Bread pudding served with a salted caramel ice cream, served by the fire, with an old fashioned drink. The ice cream served with the warm bread pudding is absolutely heavenly!
The main course was interesting in that it was all the food that I would never have ordered… but as they say Mikey, he likes it! The clam chowder with gnocchi was my favorite. The coconut curry with mussels was served and looked very beautiful, I am not a huge curry fan, so I cannot say weather it was good, but it looked beautiful!
The slider trio was my favorite. I was most curious about the grilled cheese with apple slices… VERY GOOD! The buffalo burger was packed with flavor. The pub melt was my least favorite, way too rich for me.
The appetizer set ion was my favorite, basically when I go to a pub, I am looking to drink and have an appetizer or two… My favorite was the duck chorizo tacos, something I probably would not have ordered, but now I know :)
Another item that I wouldn’t normally order, because of the word… duck… The duck confit potato wedges… TOTALLY AWESOME!
The pork belly bites are good, especially with a squirt of lemon.
The cocktails… now we are talking, my favorite was… actually I can’t decide. I do not normally order a dessert drink, but that old fashion was great. I am most excited to go back, I saw a sign that said happy hour $ 3 at 3:00 :)

Haven’t been to too many events this year, but THIS has got to be the best event thus far for 2015. Big thanks to the Pub at Chino Hills for your generosity. I’m sure each and everyone of us Unilocalers truly enjoyed your hospitality.
Loved all the craft cocktails and beers. My favorite was the foo foo one with the rosemary. ORANGE ROSEMARY (muddled rosemary & orange, lime juice, Russian Standard Vodka). It’s not too stiff, perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors. Favorite beat was the rye IPA. Gotta check them out in Claremont.
My favorite dishes were the Coconut Curry Mussels and Shrimp Pipian,
+The curry was super innovative. Surprisingly addicting, an European favorite with a Thai twist. I wish I had some rice to go with the dish.
+The shrimps were perfectly cooked. But the star of that dish was the green sauce on top. Almost tasted like the super addicting green sauce you get at Peruvian places. Beautifully executed.
Although most dishes were pretty good, there are room for improvement if you’ll just hear me out.
–Our first appetizer was deep fried pork belly, normally a very hard dish to mess up on, somehow I didn’t think it was too good. My recommendation, more seasoning. A little bit more salt, and throw some crushed black pepper on it. For the side dip, instead of giving us a rich creamy sauce, I’d opt for a more refreshing sauce like the salsa that you served to us with the duck tacos.
–Our sliders/​buffalo were served with some sort of baguette, the crust was super hard. If you are trying to make a burger banh mi, please don’t. Try using King’s Hawaiian or something softer. But the meat was great. Tasted very good, but I wasn’t feeling where this was going textually.
–Lastly the Clam chowder gnocchi, I am BIG on gnocchi, and I’ll have to say that it sounded delicious when I heard the announcements. It was a bit disappointing, the gnocchi were too big and too hard. When I hear gnocchi, I except soft and pillowy dumplings. I appreciate you trying to give me big hearty bites, but sometimes less is more.
I really enjoy the 360 tour of the lounge, main dining area, and the outside patio. The venue is spectacular. I can definitely picture myself having a few drinks friends over and chilling out; or take someone special here for romantic date. But last night was like 85 degrees F out here in Chino Hills, and the humidity was through the roof, and y’all still had the fire pits going? Man, I was sweating balls. Props to y’all who likes to stay toasty.
Thank you guys again for inviting us out, I hope you don’t take my suggestions personal. I’m not a foodie (please don’t call me one), I understand everyone have different tastes. It’s just my two cents. Big thanks to Jessica H for hosting this AWESOME event. It was great meeting a few new Unilocalers and seeing some familiar faces. Hope to see y’all at the next one.

This is my first Unilocal event that was no +1s and I was really excited for it! Chino Hills was kind of a far drive but definitely worth fighting the traffic! As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by the host and Jessica. After I got my name tag, the fun began. I sat with Iris C., Ferrenstein H. and John H. and we had a really nice and chill time. It is always great to me fun new people at Unilocal events.
The event was a food and alcohol pairing. For the 1^st part, we sat at the bar area. To start off, we got a Rasberry & Sage Cocktail and an Orange Rosemary Cocktail and paired it with 3 appetizers — Fried Pork Belly Bites, Duck Chorizo Tacos and a Duck Confit Potato Wedge. All the appetizers were amazing. My favorite one was the Duck Confit Potato Wedge — it was unique and the flavors and textures were great. The Cocktails were sweet and refreshing — great way to start a meal!
After that, we moved to the dinning area which was the fancier side of the restaurant. We got served a flight of 3 beers along with a Buffalo Burger, a Grilled Cheese and the Pub Melt. I really liked the Melt — it was a really nice spicy kick it to. The Buffalo Burger was really juicy and a perfect medium rare. After eating this, I was already stuffed and we weren’t even on the entrees yet!
For the entrees, we got serve Clam Chowder Gnocchi, Curry Mussels and a Shrimp Dish. The best one was the Curry Mussels — very hearty and filling. I wish we had rice for that amazing curry! I felt like the Gnocchi was a little bit overcooked since it was a bit tough but it was still good. Shrimp dish we killed as soon as it touched our table.
For dessert, we sat outdoors in their patio with an open fire. We got an amazing bread pudding with caramel ice cream paired with an Old Fashioned which was pretty strong.
This was a very well organized event by Unilocal and The Pub at Chino Hills. Thank you so much for hosting and will definitely be back!

One of the best events I’ve been to! Thank you to Jessica and the Pub at Chino Hills for setting everything up. The dinner was sooo good. I had food coma on the way home! It started off with some delicious cocktails and pork belly bites! The appetizers kept coming and coming and then the main courses came! I love the coconut mussels and shrimp! WHAT there’s dessert still? I enjoyed all the flights of beers as well, big winner was the blood orange!
AGAIN, thank you for such a great event and I can’t wait to come back to try other dishes on the menu! YUM!

There’s no doubt about it, the food AND drinks are amazing.
Appetizers: Pork belly, duck chorizo tacos (my fav), and duck potato wedges were all melt-​in-​your mouth, give me more delicious. Bravo to whoever came up with these recipes. For the wedges, I wish they were more of a triangular wedge because it was a little hard to eat.
Slider Trio: This was like a mouth orgasm one after the other. Buffalo burger: oh man, anything with sweet onions, mushrooms, and argula always has my heart. This was yum. Pub Melt: Bone Marrow. YES! Enough said. Apple Grilled Cheese: where have you been all my life? HOLY shiz… this was good!
Beer Flight: Okay, so I’m not a big beer drinker but these 3. WOW! So GOOD! My favorite was the darker of the 3 called Claremont Craft Jacaranda. It tasted like lychee. I love lychee. My second fav was the Blood Orange and lastly was the Pineapple Coconut. too tropical for me but still good.
Signatures: Coconut Curry Mussels, Shrimp Pipian, and Clam Chowder Gnocchi. These were all very rich but nonetheless delicious like the other foods offered. I wish the curry was served with rice. That would be some good home comfort food right there. The Shrimp Pipian was my fav among the 3. It tasted like a corn temale. SO GOOD! The Clam Chowder Gnoochi was a little strange to eat. It’s soup but we all had to split it on our plates, with a fork to eat. It was good but I didn’t feel like I had the whole experience since I couldn’t really drink the soup. It was served more like a sauce.
Cocktails: Raspberry Sage & Orange Rosemary… ahhh! So refreshing and I wish I had more. The alcohol was faint so it just tasted like a fruity drink… which I like.
Dessert: Bread Pudding with caramel ice cream: SO GOOD! I didn’t like raisins in the bread pudding but that’s my preference. It was easy enough to pick them out. This was the perfect ending to a wonderful night. The Pub Fashioned was strong and I couldn’t drink too much because I had to drive.
All in all. GREAT night! Thank you again to everyone who took part in making this night a success! I’ve already recommended the place to friends who live in Chino. THANK YOU!

I was at first nervous coming to this event because there was no plus one’s, but I actually had a great time meeting fellow Unilocal elites and eating great food! When I first came in there was already fresh popcorn with melted duck fat on the table. I love popcorn and this little appetizer did not disappoint me. It was fresh, lightly salted and buttered (assuming from the duck fat). The list below are just a few of the dishes and drinks that stood out to me.
— THE APPETIZERS —
— pork belly bites: reminded me of these roasted pork I would always get at Chinese restaurants. It was super crispy and filled with fat, just the way pork belly is supposed to be. I loved their dip on the side as well as a fresh sliced lemon to squeeze onto these little melt-​in-​your-​mouth beauties.
— duck chorizo taco: I usually hate how tacos always had two shells, but I loved how they only provided one, allowing me to concentrate more on the flavors of the duck chorizo. I’ve never had duck chorizo before, but it definitely fits perfectly as a taco. It was very flavorful especially with the sauces.
— duck confit potato wedges: probably my favorite of them all. I loved its intricacy with its fig vinaigrette and shower of arugula for freshness. The potato wedges, interestingly, were cut in half instead of wedges and each piece had lightly salted and tender duck confit with a sauce. The wedges were perfectly cooked, giving it a crunch as well as another texture of softness from the mashed potatoes. this appetizer was so full of color and flavor. I would definitely come back here for this!
— buffalo burger: it was super filling! I love the fluffy brioche bun and grass-​fed patty, which was jam-​packed with spices. The caramelized red onions and mushrooms really did the trick.
— Apple grilled cheese: another interesting item on the menu with its crunchy sweet slices of green apples and little fiery taste of jalapeño.
— THE MAIN ENTREE —
— curry mussels: Very interesting to come up with. There were a lot of mussels and the curry also had large amount of sausages. They’re pretty big too! This was my favorite main dish. Usually mussels are served in a wine sauce, but this curry was very innovative and it worked! Sauce wasn’t too thick and it was just thin and flavorful that complemented the mussels well. I wish I was able to keep the sauce so I can put it on some rice: p.
— THE ALCOHOL —
— orange Rosemary: I loved this one the most for it wasn’t too too strong, but fruity. I tasted a lot of the freshly squeezed orange and the fresh rosemary added a nice touch to the drink.
— the beer flights: I’m not a huge beer fun, but I actually liked the two lighter beers. The IPA (darkest one) was just a bit too strong for me
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the pub. The servers were super nice and always checking up on us. This is only my second elite event and Even though they were both events with no plus one’s, I would definitely say this is the better one because I was actually able to talk to other fellow Unilocal elites. With its excellent service and innovative style with food, I would like to come back here with my friends!

Hard to rate a place anything less than Perfect when they serve you top notch food and its free. I had a great time meeting new people in my first event and then to top it all off, the place is walkable to my house.
Duck Popcorn is a great starter option. It definitely had a different taste that I can’t catch as being duck, but it was great popcorn. The whole theme of the place was somewhat Duck related everything. Then the Cocktails, were not my forte, but I cannot say no to free drinks. Can you say no to free drinks? We then got pork belly bits, which were pretty much a Filipino favorite of mine and it was just as fatty as it was tasty. The Duck chorizo tacos were probably my favorite of the appetizers because it had a great chorizo taste. The potato wedge were quite the surprise because we found out its wedges with potato mashed inside it. It was like Deviled Wedges.
We then went to the other room for a different environment and different entrees. We got a trio of a slider, pub melt, and apple grilled cheese. The Pub Melt was my favorite. I am starting to get a liking to cheese melts. We were also hand 3 flights of beer. I ended up drinking about 8 or 10. I can’t remember because people couldn’t finish their drinks.
Our of the signature dishes, the Clam Chowder Gnocchi was my favorite, but it was a hard choice. We were also given Coconut Curry Mussels and Shrimp Pipian. The curry was really good, but I was so full already I couldn’t go anymore.
Lastly the Dessert was great with the old fashioned which was super strong. Not only that, the night capped outside and everything was delicious. Thanks Pub For the event!

Appetizers:
Fried Pork Belly Bites — The first dish that was presented, fried pork belly goodness served with a side of lemon and a sort of crème sauce. It’s pretty hard to mess up pork belly but unfortunately it was under seasoned and lacked flavor, the sauce didn’t help much either. It’s a shame because a dash of pepper or salt would have saved this dish easily.
Duck Tacos — This IMO was the best dish of the night. The tacos had a perfect balance between salty and savory. The chili verde sauce that came with it was just icing on the cake and I ended up using the sauce to dip the pork belly for adding flavoring. It’s a shame that we only got one little measly taco per person.
Duck Confit Potato Wedges — You’ve probably had loaded potato wedges before at TGI or BJs but this is the next level. Huge potato wedges with lots of duck meat on it with a bed of arugula and figs for the nice balance, another favorite!
Entrees:
The Pub Melt — I am a sucker for bone marrow so slap it on anything and I am a instant fan. The rye bread was nice and toasted with the melting cheese, it was delicious!
Apple Grilled Cheese — My second favorite dish of the night, who doesn’t love grilled cheese!!! Too bad it was so small that I finished it within a few bites.
Buffalo Burger — I don’t think I’ve ever had buffalo so this was a nice surprise. The bun was too hard so I ended up deconstructing it and just eating the insides.
Coconut Curry Mussels — I am not a fan of seafood so I passed on this one, although I did try out the sausages that were in the curry sauce and it tasted pretty yummy. Wish I had some rice to be able to use the full potential of the sauce!
Shrimp Pipian — A interesting dish of shrimp with cornbread, not sure how I felt about this one, cornbread was pretty good but this dish was one of the easier ones to forget.
Clam chowder gnocchi — I LOVE a good clam chowder and I’m happy to say that this dish does not disappoint! Very flavorful and chunky as you would expect from a good clam chowder.
Dessert:
Bread Pudding — Decadent and sweet, best of all served a la mode. A great way to end the meal!
Alcoholic beverages:
RASPBERRY SAGE– Very sweet, couldn’t taste the alcohol
ORANGE ROSEMARY– GOOD DRINK!
THE PUB FASHION — Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to strong for me! One sip and I couldn’t drink it anymore!
There was also a sampling of different beers from local breweries. Sadly, I could not drink them since I had to ride and did not have a DD so I went light on all the alcoholic beverages. Overall it was a great event as usual and I am glad that I was able to partake in it. I will be back since it is so close to my work!

Everything that we sample is exceptional delicious ! The pubs is quite nice and I find it myself would go back one of those day. The location is kinda far for most, I finally get to meet some of my Unilocal friend who I never seen before.
Not just food they were very generous but so is the alcohol drinks. Everyone has 2 full serving cocktails plus 3 flight beers ! This is truly a full course dinner!
I not gonna listed every single thing on the review, since clearly other Unilocaler aleady mention it. My favorite of them all that I get to sample is the coconut curry mussels. The dish is huge and very Instagram worthy. It tasted as good as it look The mussels were fresh and the sauce is very yummy, just there were rice too.
We been moved all over the place in the event, first form the bar area then to dining area, and last moved to outdoor patio which has 2 fire pit. This pubs has it all !
The staff and owner were very friendly and provided 5 Stars customer service !

Whew! What a whirlwind event! From a full tasting to a full tour, The Pub really treated us to an all-​around experience.
The Fried Pork Belly Bites started the night with melt-​in-​your-​mouth goodness and high expectations. The Sider Trio stood out to me as by far my favorite part of the tasting. The Buffalo Burger came medium rare and topped to perfection with portobello mushrooms, onions, arugula, Gruyère, and garlic aioli. The Pub Melt and the Apple Grilled Cheese also spoke to my inner cheese addict.
What I loved about the venue was that everywhere you looked, a big screen HDTV stared right back at you. This would be a great place for a veg-​out, beer-​drinking, sports-​watching night with the homies!
Much thanks to Katie and Jessica for introducing us to a cool venue in Chino Hills!

This was a great event with several courses (apps and sliders), cocktails, beer flight, signature dishes (all seafood), and desserts… yum!
The first 3 rounds of appetizers and two cocktails were served in the bar, This included, fried pork belly, duck chorizo tacos, and duck confit potato wedges, which were all quite tasty, the last of which I’m pretty sure people went crazy for! Personally I could have eaten about 10 of the tacos, they were that good. The drinks were raspberry sage, a really refreshing, light, slightly fruity Jack Daniels concoction. And then this was followed up by an orange rosemary, an even more fruity, bit more sweet vodka cocktail. Everything was presented and garnished beautifully.
They brought out the «Siders» which are like sliders, but better. We had a delicious Buffalo burger, medium rare — can’t go wrong. An apple grilled cheese with aged cheddar, gooing out of everyone’s mouth. And not to be outdone, pub melt with flavorful ground beef, marrow butter, gruyère, onions, and aioli.
Next everyone moved to the dining room, for a flight of So Cal craft beers, which were,
Belching Beaver GREAT LEI Pineapple Coconut IPA. This is a mild, easy drinking beer by IPA standards, from the wizards at BB. The name is a homage to the tropical flavors it leaves trailing on your tongue, and was a nice pretext to the other two beers. 6.0% ABV
Refuge BLOOD ORANGE WIT Wit Beer was next on the line, and it was a very easy drinking wit beer, with hints of blood orange in it, which comes from the oils in the rind imparted during the brewing process. Very tasty and easy drinking, which would complement lots of food particularly go well with many asian chicken dishes in my opinion. Definitely worth a try if you can. 5.0% ABV
Claremont Craft JACARANDA Rye IPA. The most local of all the beers presented and also the strongest, by alcohol content. This is a true, medium-​strong IPA with a slightly biting hoppy /​rye finish. Smacks you in the mouth! Not as strong as many IPAs from Stone, etc, and not as hoppy as your typical IPA, probably because it’s balanced out by the rye. I’d had one local Rye IPA before (Cismontane) and would say this one ranks right up there. However, this was the last one I could finish because I had to start watching my alcohol before skipping back to OC =) 6.7% ABV
After tasting all three beers (twice), I ended up sipping on the Great Lei first while waiting for the next course of food to come out. So that should be a testament to this IPA.
As we sipped our beers, they brought out the first main course, or signature dishes, which was the shrimp pimpian. This is a plate of about 10 shrimp, smothered neatly in light green sauce, slightly darker than say, an avocado salsa. But what it was, was a unique mexican mole made with tomatillos. Yes a green mole! Never seen that before, and it was tasty… not spicy nor too rich, but a nice complement to the shrimp. This was served with a corn tart which was a very neat square of baked goodness to help down the shrimp, topped with a few light greens. I could only finish two bites of the tart but it was very unique and complemented the prawn.
Next out came a very unique dish again. Gnocchi combined with clam chowder — what a combination! We each scooped out our gnocchi onto our plates, and smothered it in the yummy clam chowder broth. The gnocchi was chewy and almost melted in your mouth, but the creamy savory taste of the clam chowder added the earthy /​ocean goodness to it just the same, so that it wasn’t just eating plain gnocchi nor just eating run of the mill clam chowder. I didn’t get much chunks of clam but that’s probably because I was distracted and didn’t really go «fishing» very well for them in our family-​style skillet it was served unto us.
Finally came out the crème de la crème we may all have been waiting for, which was black PEI mussels in a coconut yellow curry sauce, with generous heaping of sausage, and crustinis to soak up the delicious sauce. I know a few at my table were craving some rice as was I, so if I were ordering this in the restaurant I’d definitely want some of that to devour all the creamy curry goodness. Mussels were tasty, as was the meaty sausage, and devoured as many of these little guys as possible before readying for our next stop…
Moving out onto their cool patio with fire pits and heaters (not quite needed on this warm August night), we were soon helped to some luscious desserts which were bread pudding ala mode, with homemade salted caramel ice cream, sprinkled with candied caramel bits. These desserts were all pretty much inhaled, as we were handed the Pub’s version of an Old Fashioned cocktail. So strong but so good! After 3 sips of this, pretty much had to call it a night and were tipping our wait staff and kitchen and saying our goodbyes to old friends & new.

Tonight’s lineup in text had my chubby bunny going «Nom nom nom!!» all day but in person, holy crap! my chubby bunny was raaaaging! Everything looked delicious and smelled even better if you can believe it. Take a somewhat less satisfying adventure than the one we got to experience through my review.

Pork Belly Bites — Oh, yes please! Fried, juicy bites of little piggy… Get in my belly! (* skip the sauce and use the lemon, yum!)
Duck Tacos (w/​aPear & ginger cilantro slaw with shaved manchego cheese) — I was conflicted between the pork belly bites and the duck tacos, I wasn’t sure which one I loved better but that duck paired with the cilantro was super unique and oh so delicious. This round went to the duck. sorry piggy.
The Pub Melt (all natural ground beef, bone marrow butter, caramelized onions, gruyère & cheddar on toasted rye bread) — I’m not too sure how I feel yet about this but at first two bites I can say I like it.
Apple Grilled Cheese — savory and oh so cheeeesssy! Just the way I like it!
Buffalo Burger. (All natural grass fed buffalo, Portobello mushrooms, roasted red onions, gruyère, wild arugula, & garlic aioli) — surprisingly, I enjoyed this, haha, I’m not a big burger eater but this I could grow to love. Protein style of course ;)
Coconut Curry Mussels — This wasn’t something I found too yummy but my table went H.A.M. on the dish.
Shrimp Pipian — (Knowledge bomb for ya: Pipián sauce is a piquant Mexican sauce traditionally served over roast chicken or enchiladas. It is part of a larger family of ground sauces known as moles, and it has a very distinctive, nutty, earthy flavor.) I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. Shrimp was cooked very well though!
Clam chowder gnocchi (house made potato gnocchi with a New England style clam chowder) — I loved the chowder part of this dish. The smoky flavor was a nice touch. The gnocchi was a little hard. But still easy to enjoy this dish.
Bread Pudding — ohmygawd. Who doesn’t love bread pudding? If you actually know someone who doesn’t [and isn’t allergic], stop being friends with that person, lol! But seriously, this is the HERO dish for me tonight! Brava, brava.
There were many other dishes but these are the ones I thought I’d share :)
