Chino Mower & Engine Service

You guys obviously have bad reviews on customer service before my review so don’t blame me get a mature employee to answer the phone.

I’m a little surprised by the negative reviews previously posted. My experience was definitely a positive one. As stated in earlier reviews, a $ 26 initial charge for evaluation and estimate for lawnmower repair, which is added to the total charge after repairs are completed. The total charge for my particular service was nearly half price of two other local repair shop phone estimates. Mower now runs as good as it did brand new. No complaints.

I really tried to like this place more, hoped I could make it my to go place for my small engines. Next time I will take my business elsewhere, just to compare.
Pros: Brought in my lawn mower, they fixed it and it works.
Cons: Really no courtesy, not eager to win your business, a little expensive. If I had known that they don’t put your equipment back together (as stated in other reviews), I would have gone somehwere else. But I did get it fixed, so no issue there.

I’m posting this review because I feel that this establishment treats their customers as if they don’t need there business. I took my equipment in for a simple fix a pull cord they charge $ 26 bucks to even look at it, I left my equipment there at i was told I would be called back that same day for an estimate. I never received a call back for 2 days. When they called me back with an estimate I was given this outrages quote of a $ 100.00 over what the repairs were to be stating I needed new carburetor; hoses;tuneup; and coil. I honestly feel that these people think that people fell off the turnip truck and their dealing with ignorant people. This staff or owner needs to reevaluate it’s purpose for being in business. Let’s say honesty is the best policy and I don’t feel that this is going on here at this establishment. I can purchase a brand new mower at homedepot or sears. REDICULOUS!!!

I just had my hedge trimmer repaired. This is the first repair its ever needed & was concerned about who does the repair. Within a couple of days they said it was ready. I just used it the other day and it works just like new. They did a great job. I will defiantly use them again for future repairs.

Stopped in on Sunday looking for a Stihl chainsaw. Floyd greeted my wife and I immediately and helped me choose the right saw for my needs. I ended up purchasing the MS 251 with the EZ start. Floyd spent a great deal of time (as I was the only one there at the time) going over the saw with me. Excellent experience! Thanks Floyd!

I took a mower in for losing power which I thought was minor. They said it would cost $ 130+. That’s a little less than I bought it for. The diagnosis was $ 26 and applied to the repair. When I opted not to repair it I knew they’d keep the $ 26, but I didn’t know I’d get it back disassembled. When I complained I was rudely treated and told it’s on the receipt. Their attitude was poor. Now I have a disabled mower I can’t run. I was told if they put it back together it wouldn’t run right cause I didn’t pay for the repair. NEVER AGAIN.

I’ve been relying on Chino Mower for about 9 years for home and business equipment. In that time, I have purchased a used riding mower, two backpack blowers, a lawn mower, a chain saw, and about a million chain-​saw chains and gallons and gallons of chainsaw oil.
Reasons for the chains and oil? We’ve landscaped and terraced our large property with nearly 1,000 railroad ties that eat up chains. Chino Mower has always had what I needed and all employees have been both knowledgeable and polite. They usually have a good suggestion if I have a concern, and the various repairs we’ve needed have been handled promptly and competently, first time. Because they carry an extensive selection of parts, they can often repair a tool more quickly than other shops who have to wait for parts (or go buy them from Chino Mower.)
Chino Mower does not carry big-​box homeowner brands or models and they don’t service all of them, either. They cater primarily to professional landscapers, arborists, municipalities, and other heavy-​duty users. Their new equipment is priced fairly for quality tools and all my purchases have been properly set up and ready to work… and Chino Mower staff have been great about including suggestions for use and best products, too.
Regarding the one-​star reviews on here, seems like a guy had a problem then recruited his buddies to write nasty reviews as well. If you see a lot of strong reviews on Unilocal!accompanied by a lot of negative ones, that may indicate a personality problem… with someone…
Chino Mower has been in business for many, many years and you only have to observe their parking lot for a few minutes any day they’re open to see landscaper after landscaper drive up with repairs or to make purchases. To see pro after pro roll into the shop indicates that the shop is a trusted resource for people that make their living with their landscaping tools… they likely know who to trust with their livelihood.
Chino Mower also gives to the community by hosting fun benefit car shows. Stop by and meet them and make your own judgement based on the treatment you receive.
Competent repair shops like Chino Mower are becoming a rarity in our throwaway society. I’m always happy to do business with locals who are long-​time fixtures in the community and who, plain and simple, solve my problems. Chino Mower does!

They don’t appreciate your business and it shows! Got my mower serviced there and given the price I don’t think it was justified. I’ll go to Sears next time.

Needed a new pull string My mower. It was there for 10 days after a «few day» inspection and they never touched it said it might take a few more days. Don’t waste your time. Check out one on yorba ave.

Brian and Richard are correct. Service here has been POOr for a long time. I took a McLane reel mower in to get the blades sharpened. I went back a week later to pick it up and was told his Dad took it home to sharpen the blades. Thought that was strange. Went back a week later and he said his Dad hadn’t finished it yet. Went back another week later and was told they couldn’t find it. They said they had an older model that they had just completely rebuilt the motor and they were sorry. It lasted about a month and broke down. I took it to another shop and was told the motr was shot and couldn’t be rebuilt. Was lied to from the start. I haven’t been back in 30 years!!!

I ordered a recoil unit for my lawnmower and was asked to pay an additional $ 10 to receive the part the next day. the next day came and went with no call from the shop. I called them the next morning about 11am and spoke with the owners wife. she eventually told me the part was in and I could come pick it up. I questioned her as to why I didn’t receive a call and she said that she didn’t put me here (what was that supposed to mean)? I went to the shop and told her that I had a problem paying for something that I didn’t receive hoping she was willing to reconcile this professionally. In stead I get a story that she has a new driver, and he’s unloading boxes now, and the ups truck was late. I calmly asked how was this my problem and she promptly said how was it hers. I took my old part and left her paying the expedited charges and adding to her inventory. very unprofessional. I will not recommend this shop to anyone nor will they ever have my business again.

UPDATE… Just noticed the owner replied to my 7.5.11 review… it seems he must have A LOT OF UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS since his reply and recount of the situation had absolutely nothing to do my encounter with him or his business!
I stand by my «0» start rating of his company!!! Hey Floyd you ripped me off for more than $ 750…is this jogging your memory!!!

I agree with Mr. Brian B horrible customer service a mom and pop shop who needs a major lesson in how to deal with customers. After waiting 30 to 45 min to be helped the owner comes to help me with an I know it all attitude and has me walking away from his store feeling like I was taken advantage of. I advise anyone who is thinking of coming here to think twice.

A local ma and pa shop that specializes in parts for lawn mowers and other lawn care tools. I came here because my rear wheel bolt sheered off my lawn mower. Instead of spending a lot of money on a new lawn mower, I went to Chino Mower and Engine Service to see if they had my part.
I walked inside with my part and a older woman assisted me with my question and search. Within a minute she found my part and recommended I by two because if one broke the second might sheer off soon. I said okay because the part was only 2 dollars.
That’s what I call a great deal instead of buying a new lawn mower.
