Platinum Contractors

We were assigned Platinum Contractors by First American Home Warranty AFTER the first contractor said he couldn’t do this. He didn’t try very hard. The problem ended up being EXTREMELY minor, a GFCI that needed to be reset – but with the age of our house, we didn’t know we HAD a GFCI outlet (which was hidden behind a headboard). So, easy fix by Dennis, the Platinum electrician.
The bad part? The service window was FIVE hours by Platinum, 12 pm to 5 pm, and he got here at 6 pm, with NO call from him or Platinum. Must take into account that it’s over 100 F here. That doesn’t stop phones from working, but…
The good part? He was apologetic (not groveling), polite, and professional – and answered some questions we had about rewiring the house in general. His advice? Get a new panel installed first, one that can handle more circuits for future use, and then require each room and/​or circuit one at a time, adding circuits. He said the price this way would be MUCH less (I’m guessing that doing one room or circuit at a time would be more fill-​in work rather than DAYS at a time, so not completed as quickly, but that’s fine with us).

You are forewarned– if you use this firm for anything, don’t blame anyone but yourself. They will lie to you, miss deadlines, claim the supervisor is unavailable, and lie some more. The only reason that I used them was my home owners company used them for a pool claim. I’d rather pay full price. If your insurance company refers you to this company, ask for a different referral.

Terrible customer service. We recently purchased a home with a hot tub. The hot tub was working when we purchased the house and placed under warranty. After a couple weeks of moving in, doing a little construction around the house I decided to tackle the hot tub. Of course it stopped heating the tub. I called the home warranty company and they sent out these guys. Straight off the bat they did not want to help. First words out of the guys mouth was «they aren’t going to cover this» — without giving any diagnosis. He looked around at a couple things, notices that the temperature panel needed a key and asked that I find it. I found some keys left behind by the previous owners but none of them worked. He then said he was going to call the warranty company and I looked in another place for the key. I found a way to get into the panel without the key as there were just a couple screws holding it in place — no key necessary. About 5 minutes later I get a call from the warranty company saying they will not cover the repairs «without the key». I argue for a couple minutes that the key was not needed as there were just a couple screws holding the panel in place. After getting no where I hang up and look for the Platinum Contractors service person. He is no where to be found! He just took off. He didn’t come to check if I found the key, he didn’t see that the key was unnecessary to open the panel, he didn’t even come back to check if he could help in any other way. I called him and he had no excuses for leaving. Just took off and told the warranty company not to cover the hot tub. I got the feeling he wanted to come out, collect his portion of the $ 65 I paid to the warranty company and leave. No help whatsoever.

This is the worst company ever!!! I have never had such a bad experience in my life. They are unprofessional and not qualified to do any type of work on someone’s pool system. I have had a claim in thru my home warranty company AHS since ⁴⁄₁₈. They have had a tech out so many times I cant even recall how many times they have come to fix the problem only to make it worse. Each time they send someone out its a different reason as to why its broke. Its still not fixed!!! The rep who answers the phone each time you call is rude. The last time they came out to fix my pool heater they shorted out my heater and it couldn’t be repaired. Ending up having to replace the pool heater. The techs seems to make things up as they go along and try to make it sounds as if they know what they are talking about when they really don’t know anything at all about pools. I have been without a pool motor now for 30 days and my pool is green. I cant believe these people stay in business. Stay clear of this company, you will regret it if you call them for help. I refuse to let them repair any other items thru my home warranty company. I called AHS today and told them this company is not welcome in my home

They are the worst company ever. Our homeowners fidelity sent them. We waited all day Saturday and when we called Monday the Secretary said he was here at 12:30. Not only were we home but we have four house dogs that will alert you immediately if someone is at the door. You get the picture. We opted to call our own electrician who will be here today that is honest and forthcoming.

These guys don’t deserve any stars. I was first introduced to them through my home warranty company for my rental home. I was actually happy with the quick diagnosis that a technician named Eddie made for my electrical panel. I asked for him to come back for some junction boxes on the ceiling fans. He had no problem diagnosing what the problem was with the fans when he was there for the electrical panel. However, when I went to schedule it with the company a few days ago, I was told that Eddie was not not available for this job. They made up some bogus excuse about him having a phobia of heights this morning. I really don’t think an electrician should be in such a job if he is scared of heights. Clearly, this company will feed you whatever lies they can come up. They also told me that they were taking the estimate that Eddie gave me for the junction boxes for $ 75 each and bumping it up now to $ 150 each. They have a bunch of idiots working for them as service reps. Do not trust them in your home. The last guy who came through from this company left after five minutes and mumbled that he didn’t have the proper part. Then they proceeded to increase the bid price. They have also canceled on me the day before an appt. They are a total waste of time. I intend to report company to the California state license board. I hope everyone else who has encountered their unethical tactics does the same.

Terrible, terrible, terrible! My home warranty sent Tony out when all my downstairs outlets fritzed. He told me I needed new circuits and some rewiring and verbally quoted $ 800 to $ 1000. Home Warranty will not cover so I called back to verify estimate and Tony quoted $ 10,000! I came to Unilocal to warn others but am now really glad these people are not doing the work based on all the bad reviews here. Looks like I dodged a bullet. Beware of this company — very unprofessional and dishonest.

ZERO STARS is more like it. My home warranty company also uses these clowns to scheme money and time from you. After the technician arrived to check my pool equipment, I was told within the first 10 minutes that my spa was leaking. Then he left. After having my own pool service check things out, turns out one of the valves needed to be tightened. No leak. No expensive tearing up of my pool and spa. So glad I took a day off for their BS. If you are referred to this company via your home warranty, demand a different company!

BEWARE! Referred by our Home Warranty company. Never checked their reviews prior to service. I should have! They were sub-​contracted to fix one of our bedroom ceiling fans and our doorbell. They «fixed» our ceiling fan by disabling the wall switch and requiring us to use the remote instead. The doorbell never got fixed. They said it was a low voltage issue. I, later, got a second opinion. It was not a low voltage issue. Doorbell is now working, no thanks to Platinum!: (

Referred by my Home Warranty company. They visited 3 times. Once to estimate. once to re-​estimate because the front desk didn’t talk to the estimator. He thought it was a new problem. Had to half drain the pool before 3^rd visit. No call before as they had on the first two calls. Found repairman in back yard, completing a coupling repair, but not the main pumphead problem, so it was still leaking. Nor had the repairman any idea of the extra work I needed (on my dime) before I refilled the pool. Which was quickly becoming a mosquito breeder ground. Today they called for a new repairman to come out, after I had my normal pool man complete the repairs. No communication in the shop between workers. I just have nothing good to say about them. Job is done now, correctly by my poolman.

I had a bad breaker issue and home warranty company sent out Platinum. I never checked their reviews before they came. They called me before coming, guy showed early, was very helpful, fixed my issue in 1 min. Bad spring or something was not letting the breaker connect. He even gave me some tips as I am replacing my outlets in my house. He even checked two for me to verify I was doing it correctly. Very nice and knowledgable. I appreciate the service.
I do not have anything to say that is negative on these guys. I can imagine a lot of the frustration from people regarding the home warranty companies. They are very difficult to deal with.
I am gonna have them come out to replace my main panel as I have a fixer upper and it bothers me having an old bad panel.

Can I give them ZERO stars? Where should I start? They came out to inspect my heater to my pool, recommended by my warranty company to my home. First time I called so unprofessional baby crying in background, sound like girl was in her cell phone and she did not know what I was talking about! I called and set appointment and they never showed up! Second appointment called and again have me a 4 hour window and then 8 hour window and then just canceled on me! Then finally when the shower up have 2 contractors they double booked me. Ok it get better, after warranty company approved heater they charged me $ 375 for re wiring, re housing and plumbing, said new heater need new fitting. Then wanted to charge me $ 200 to dispose my old heater. Bottom line if you need service from this company stay away unless GOOD AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE NOT IMPORTANT TO You!!!

HORRIBLE COMPANY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could give this company zero stars I would. I recently purchased a home and was having electrical issues. My home warranty company «First America» sent out a technician Robert to the property. He talked briefly to my tenants then poked around for a bit and found some issues. He called First American who said the issues was not covered under my home buyer warranty. Following this call he left the property. I was never notified and upon weeks of trying to get information as to what the issue was I have yet to receive an answer but they have provided me a quote for $ 1800+ without telling me what the issues is or letting me speak to the technician. I have called maybe 20 times now and have never been able to speak to anybody except the receptionists who know absolutely nothing.

I meant to follow up on my past experience with this company.
Service man came out and diagnosed the problem quickly and efficiently. Was a very simple fix and he was very professional and friendly. The end result was very favorable and I was happy with the service.

Be careful… They are not professional. We had one of their tech guy over to replace one breaker and he was able to damage the main panel. We ended up with no power for 4 days and a risk of fire at the house. The guy came and we told him what the issue was, he «played» with the wires for an hour and told us everything is OK and that there is nothing wrong with the breaker. 30 min’s after he leaves we lose power. we call the guy back and his answer is «not my problem, i didn’t do anything and this is just something you did or something that went bed after he left». I ask re-​open the warranty case and ask him to come now and he says «just got back home to my wife and kids, couldn’t care less about your situation and I am not leaving my house».
We asked for a different company which came over and had to replace most of the main panel because of his poor work and zero understanding of what the issue was. Luckily for us the house didn’t burned down

Worst contractor ever. Our home warranty company selected Platinum to repair our ceiling fan. First of they give a four hour time frame to come and don’t even come within the that time frame and don’t call to advise that they are running late. Then they aren’t able to repair the fan so it needs to be replaced. Nothing happens for a month and the home warranty company is still waiting for information from Platinum. Then they are only willing to pay for a standard fan that is half the cost of our fan because it’s more ‘economical’ for them. I offer to pay the difference and they advise they are still not able to because it’s not protocol. I advised them that I’ll tell my home warranty company to go with another contractor and they reply, «Go ahead.» Worst customer service on earth. I’d give them a zero if I could.

They are awful and nasty. They don’t know anything about the pools. They cheat and lie.
We have a gate. There is no way they could get in the house without us opening the gate. Plus we were home the day they were supposed to come. They didn’t show up twice. And they said they were at our house and checked the pool. It interesting that they are the only company that American Home Shield
Home Warrenty works with! They are in cohort to milk the customers and not to do the proper repairs

This company was the one sent out by my home warranty company. First, they didn’t contact me. I received an email from my home warranty company letting me know that I should have been contacted and if I hadn’t to call them. I called my home warranty company, they called Platinum Contractors who advised they called three times, finally reached us, made an appointment and we weren’t home when they came. Ha! None of that was true, they never called.
Then they came out, the technician told me there was actually no problem with my pool heater, that I had an issue with the gas company and I should call them to come out. I (not knowing any better) did that. The technician also left my pool in service mode, I had no idea he’d done that until after 9:00 pm when the house was quiet. No lights out by the pump and motor; that was fun. The gas company was SUPER nice, (and I felt like an idiot) and explained to me how everything in the gas lines worked, also that if there was an issue with the gas lines I’d be having issues with other gas appliances. Huh. Makes sense.
I called my home warranty company back, they called Platinum who scheduled a ‘senior technician’ to come out a week later. A week later they called and said they forgot to do that and they’d be sending the original tech. What good would that do? Seriously?!?
I called my home warranty company, Platinum says they can schedule a senior tech — a week from now. No. Who has time for this? I have not been able to use my pool for the last month of summer thanks to Platinum Contractors and their incompetence.
I gave this company all the information they could possibly need, the type of heater, the error codes, the parts, everything. Would I recommend this company? No, not to anyone. After seeing/​reading the other reviews, apparently no one else would either, but they don’t care. They’ve got their contracts with the home warranty companies, why should they care about customer service satisfaction?

Through my Home warranty, had a contract with this contractor.
Long story short.
Issue: Pool heater didn’t work well. Request the service for check out the heater.
Company made an appointment around 13~1500.
Technician showed up around 1100.
He call me that he was waiting outside of my house when I was at work.
I told him that, why didn’t he call me 30 minitues prior to visit, and he said he forgot.
I told him, check the system out w/​o me and let me know what he found.
He left w/​o follow up or findings.
I call the compnay, no answer.
2 days later, no response.
3^rd day, I call all my home warranty service, they contact the contractor.
P.contactor call me right after and told me, pipe needs to be replaced.
I asked, heater was the issue, but pipe was fine.
Why did they need to repalce the pipe?
they said that’s what their operator told them, but no detailed information.
2 days later, technician shows again, before his show time, no 30 mins visit call.
I was working, nobody was at home.
Technician replaced the pipe, w/​my rusty pipe which was there since 2002.
And now, heater is broken for good. Not working at all.
