History

Established in 2010.

The wines of Hearst Ranch Wines reflect a collaboration of sound agricultural practices, impeccable winemaking and the friendship of Steve Hearst and Jim Saunders. The Hearst Ranch Winery portfolio offers up a «Legacy of Quality™» that is synonymous with the Hearst tradition.

Steve Hearst and Jim Saunders began their business and personal association by happenstance. Jim purchased a Hearst Ranch tour at a cancer research fundraiser. As the saying goes, «a meeting of the minds» developed into this benevolent project — The Hearst Ranch Winery.

Independently, Stephen T. Hearst and Jim Saunders are accomplished businessmen that have the talent, imagination and integrity to create great things. Collectively, their shared vision on sustainable agriculture, nature conservancy and historical preservation brings Hearst Ranch Winery to fruition, with care, like the fruit in the vineyards. These men have fostered a friendship and an enduring devotion to their community.

Meet the Business Owner

Jim S.

Business Owner

Jim and Debi Saunders have faithfully served the community of Paso Robles for years. Their commitment to the town they also call home has resulted in the development of significant advances in the agricultural, commercial and historical landscape of Paso Robles. Jim has been instrumental in improvements to organizations ranging from the Paso Robles Children’s Museum to the California Mid-State fair. In total, his projects have resulted in over 400 new jobs generated in his community. Since the early 90’s, the Saunders family has been developing their ranch into a productive grape growing operation. When the opportunity to develop Hearst Ranch Winery was presented, Jim jumped at the chance. With two wine-processing facilities on his property in Paso Robles and carefully groomed vineyards, the partnership was a natural fit. Jim believes in the values behind the brand and his tight control on production levels is a testament to the «Legacy of Quality™» in every bottle.
