Purchased a vanilla cake with lemon filling. The filling tasted like nail polish remover. Tried again and purchased 2 dozen vanilla and 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes for a child’s birthday party. Chocolate was horrible and inedible. Vanilla was tasteless, but the whip cream frosting was good.

Don’t narrow your perception from the name«Bakery». This place has great mexican food. We had tamales and a chorizo burrito type of meal. Both awesome(if you like your tamales with lots of the cornmeal… like I do). After the late breakfast we got a small bag of delicious pan-dulce to snack on later. We asked a local police officer and he recommended this and another restaurant for mexican/breakfast option.

Went here after reading reviews. They had no selection at all. The only thing they had were some little cookies for a buck each. Bought two, but they weren’t worth it. Won’t go back unless they offer more than tiny cookies.

This family bakery in Chowchilla is worth checking out for some of the things that they do well(the cream pies are fantastic), but quality tends to be erratic. We have had some things that are great, but sometimes the results are downright unpalatable. We got cookies once, for example, that were rock hard and nearly flavorless. I don’t want to give the wrong impression though; most of what we’ve had here has been good to great. The doughnuts are good, the double-crust pies are usually good(though quality at Thanksgiving was disappointing), and the breads have been great. The Coconut Cream pie may be the best I’ve ever had. This is definitely better than what you’ll get at the supermarket, and if you hit them on a good day you will be in love.
