A Cut Above Total Tree Care

I have a huge rubber tree in my backyard. Last year I had someone recommended by my gardener come and do work. I was very displeased. I saw this company’s ad in a flyer. I called and set up an appointment for an estimate. Mike gave me a great deal. Joe and his crew were on time, he was very kind and professional. He and his crew did a great job, cleaned everything up wonderfully. What took the other crew a day and a half, this crew took less than two hours. I highly recommend this company !!

We had A Cut Above Tree Service out last week for trimming of 8 large Queen Palms. It was a large job and a lot of clean up. They did a great job! My husband had some clean up afterwards but we expected that. He tipped the 3 workers as we wanted to thank them for a job well done with no accidents! That was my biggest fear for hiring a company to do this work but I wanted my husband to stop climbing these beasts and risking his life without the right equpiment. We hope this trimming last awhile but they are really healthy trees so who knows? We will call this company back when it is time:) Thanks guys

Last week, I posted a glorious 5 star review of a cut above tree care. I don’t understand what is happening with Unilocal.I can see that my review is still on my info but it has been deleted from the business page. This is pretty bad business ethics for Unilocal to be removing reviews for whatever reason. Either way, this place did a fantastic job of helping me remove a huge star pine that I even recommended them to my father later and he had a huge queen palm taken care of as well. Fantastic job and fantastic service.
I hope to see this add still up on the site when I check back in.

This company is the absolute worst! Called for an estimate, I had over $ 1,000 worth of work for them, appt was for 5:30−730, I receive a call saying the guy is lost looking for my house but will be there shortly. Apparently 1 hour later, receptionist calls back and says «he had to skip you and go to his next appt, oh by the way, we don’t service your area so we cannot help you» left high and dry because they don’t know how to communicate. That’s ok, since I do not want their crappy service anyway.

I used A Cut Above Total Tree service and I don’t understand the other reviews! I used them in an emergency and BOY was I glad they were there! Courteous, polite and helpful when I need it most! I was sick and needed a mess cleaned up that I couldn’t take care of!!! Thank you!!! Will use again!!!

I just had the crew from Cut Above come by and they did a superb job. Mike came by to give us a quote for the four trees trimmed and he was very friendly, professional and knew his business. Whenever I called (to schedule the trimming, to check on ETA and to follow up) I was able to speak to someone and not a machine.
The whole experience was positive. They honored my coupon and saved us quite a bit. I’ve had the trees trimmed with other folks who didn’t do exactly what we wanted and charged me a lot more.
I will use Cut Above for any future tree trimmings. Thanks!

I had Mike come over for a estimate for a tree removal. He quoted me at 495.00. I waited a few months for the tree to be removed. So I called back to schedule the removal, everything was set and good to go. At least that is what I thought. I took the day off from work and was at home awaiting the arrival of Mike and his crew. I received a phone call stating that they would not becoming out today due to a backlog of jobs, and because rain was in the forecast. I got the phone call a hour after he was scheduled to arrive to start the job, The kicker of this sad excuse of a company is that they raised the price over the phone at the last minute to 795.00, I asked why and was told because they did not have the business when I originally got the quote a few months back. I told them to take a walk there business or lack of was not needed !!! Total Scam !! Glad they called me and I cancelled the job !!

I got 2 quotes to remove my tree and grind down the stump that were around $ 500 range. Then I called A Cute Above (Below). They set a time range of 2:00 — 3:30, rushed home to be there by 2:00, by 3:20 they hadn’t shown or called so I called the office and Sandra said she would call Mike and check to see where he was. She said he couldn’t make it til 4:00, I said I wouldnt be home, but he could drive by, look at the tree and leave an estimate. He didn’t show until 5:00 and by then I was home. He quickly looked at the tree and gave me an estimate of $ 695.well above the other quotes I received. He left and we decided to use one of the prior companies that we had received lower estimates from. Then Sandra called ½ hr after Mike left and said they had some extra time the next day and would be in the area, so she would only charge us $ 595. if we agreed to use them tomorrow. So we did because this tree needed to be removed quickly and $ 595. wasn’t excessively higher than other quotes. Later that night I was reading thru a catalog coupon book I had received earlier and realized that there was a coupon for A Cut Above Tree service for 35% off removal service and there were NO exclusions on coupon. So when came the next day I wasn’t able to be home, but my husband was there for the last ½ hr that Mike was finishing up. My husband showed Mike the 35% off coupon when Mike presented the bill and Mike said that it didn’t apply because we had found their company on the web. What does that have to do with the price of beans? I wasn’t there and my husband just wanted to make the situation go away, so he paid Mike the full $ 595. When I found out after, I called Sandra and let her know that we had the coupon and would like them to honor it. My impression was that she had been down this road MANY times. She was confontational and talked over me much of the time. She refused to budge, even though I suggested we negotiate a price somewhere in the middle. So I put a stop on check that we had written to them. I spoke with her again and relayed this to her and again offered to negotiate, she refused, kept going back to the us finding them on the web. whatever that had to do with anything. and told her we would have to talk to Mike and alluded to putting a lien on our house and that they knew how to deal with this. apparently they have alot of experience: /​She wanted me to fax over a bunch of paperwork. other quotes, the page I printed on the web, to make sure I didn’t get their name from some certain location. They just reak of an unscrupulous company! Don’t know where this will go. not worried about it, bottom line is. don’t use this company and WATCH YOUR BACK when you hire someone!

CONS: Mike came out and gave me the quote. Scheduled an appointment for mid day but the day of the service after 45 min. overdue I got a call they would not come as still busy with the morning shift. Damn i took the time off so was frustrated. Re-​scheduled for next week morning. The crew came about 30 – 45 min. late. I even called the office thinking they’d forgotten again.
PROS: The job was done in 2 hours. Pretty good. No complains. Trimmed couple of palm trees, removed and stomped the bushes ground, cut down few other trees and brunches. Cleaned up after themselves so I would have to call my gardener and ask him to skip my regular appointment. I paid with the CC over the phone. Was charged as agreed with Mike
OVERALL: Other then the failure to appear on the first try and being a bit late for the second appointment, I felt pretty satisfied.

We needed three trees removed and found a coupon in the Penny Saver for this business. The owner, Mike, came by and seemed very knowledgeable and honest, so we hired him on the spot. (BTW, we had interviewed three other tree services before deciding on this one). He and his crew came out on the date and time we had scheduled and got to work. They rushed around and five hours later told us they were finished and left. We had paid for stump grinding, but discovered after they left and began to clean up everything, the stumps had not been grinded the 8 inches below the ground that had been promised. We called that day to ask them to return and was told Mike would call us. We waited a few days and no call. We called again and was told Mike would call, he didn’t. By now, we were frustrated and called again and again. Mike finally called us and set a date and time to return. The day came and went and he didn’t show up or call as we waited all day for him. We called again and the receptionist said Mike was busy with other jobs. Mike finally called and scheduled another date and time, almost two weeks after the initial job. He did not appear happy about returning. However, he did return to finish the job and it was a definite improvement, but not 100%. By this point, we simply didn’t feel like dealing with the company’s bad service again, so we hired another guy (paid him $ 250.00) to finish the job. It had been over two weeks since the original tree cutting and we needed the dangerous stump pieces right under the ground removed as they posed a potential tripping hazard. We also wanted to get our yard back together as it was in disarray for over two week after the initial job was started. This company knows how to cut trees down quickly, but seems deficient when it comes to stump-​grinding. On another note, their ad promised a free gas card with service, but we have yet to receive ours, despite several calls. Just another indicator that these folks are unreliable.

Called them back a couple of times because they also had not returned my call (should have checked Unilocal!). Spoke with someone who scheduled time to come out. I rearranged my work and personal schedule to make sure I was here during the time frame. I got a call with an hour left for him to show from their office stating that Mike the tree guy was «not interested» in cutting my trees. He could have at least had the courtesy to show up in person to discuss it since it was an inconvenience to my household. I also had 6 other trees to remove and the neighbor also wanted 4 trees removed on their property. I guess business is good when you can turn away so much business at your own discretion.
