La Taquiza

Excellent experience! I hired La Taquiza for a graduation party for 70 people. Mayra helped with the reservation and clearly explained the cost, which I felt was very reasonable. She took my deposit over the phone and I was done! Three guys showed up perfectly on time, set up and cooked for the two hour service period. When they left, you never would have known they were there, they even taped plastic down on the concrete patio to keep it clean. The food was absolutely fantastic and got raves from everyone at the party. Thank you so much for helping to make the party a great success!

I used La Taquiza Catering for a client’s Grand Opening Party and we were very impressed with them.
Initially, they were very helpful on the phone. We went with them because they had a good price and they also have insurance and a health permit, which is a big plus when you are serving to the public.
Another impressive part of working with them is that we doubled our order at the last minute and they were able to accommodate us (from 50 people to 100 people).
On the day of the event they arrived on time, setup on time and served for the full length of time. They were very warm and inviting to our customers and encouraged them to go into the store to check it out when they are done eating.
We had pollo asado (chicken) tacos, carne asada (beef) tacos, adobado (pork) tacos, quesadillas, beans and rice along with all of the fixing.
My only small complaint is that they didn’t have extra foil pans for us to take the leftovers, but we were able to come up with something.
I would definitely use La Taquiza again and would definitely recommend them to friends.

That’s the phrase I kept hearing over and over again when La Taquiza came out to cater an event at the office.
They arrived on time, set everything up perfectly, and served the most delicious food. My favorite was the beef, but that’s because I don’t eat chicken or pork :)
Great guacamole, fresh cilantor and onion made the tacos perfect. Rice and beans on the side? Yes please!
I will definitely be using them again.

Paid a $ 500 deposit for my sons birthday party, we had 50 guests, not only did they not show up, they did not call and we are completely embarrassed as all of our guests were without food. Completely unacceptable and you can only imagine a house full of your friends wondering WTF? (Where’s the food)? How is that even possible when you run a f@#king catering business!!!

Great food and a great deal. Loss of one star due to the confusion on arrival time (came at 6:30 not 6:00) and the fact that the set up and time to serve took 90 minutes not teh 60 minutes they stated. Everyone enjoyed the party a great deal and the guys were friendly and easy to work with. Phone hours are 9 – 5 only so can be difficult to get ahold of but worth the extra effort. we will certainly use them again. We hosted 50 people and plenty of food with great left overs.

My church hired La Taquiza to cater a recent luncheon that was after the service. The food was soo delicious, ready exactly on time, and everyone was friendly. Plenty of food for people to have seconds and even thirds for some :) The fresh, delicious food was well worth the (fast-​moving) line. I’d definitely consider hiring them for an event at our home!

I have NEVER Unilocaled anything in my life and unfortunately La Taquiza has upset me enough to do so…
1. They were about 30 minutes late. My guests including about 30 5 year olds were straving and it was quite embarrassing
2. They were eating tacos I paid for!
3. When I called to express my dissatisfaction no one called me back immediately. I had to call everyday for 4 days! Finally «Lolita» called me back and argued with me as to how late they were and that they could eat the food. she did not apologize and made me feel like I was the one at fault. She also accused me of giving my wrong contact information which is untrue as the contract I received had it correct.
4. «lolita» told me she would have to call me back then a day later the owner called who was very pleasant but made me write an e-​mail to them as why I should be refundedthe $ 40 tip I left so they could show the servers «why they were taking away their money»
This all seems like very poor business practice and sadly I will not use them again. I have used them several times in the past but as other reviewers have said IF you should have an issue they will NOT take care of it.

We just used this company for a family event. The food was awesome and they were great to work with. They showed up on time, brought everything they needed and were accommodating of our guests requests. I would highly recommend them.

We had La Taquiza cater a special event for about 80 people for our church. They were fantastic! Everyone loved the delicious carne asada, carnitas, and chicken tacos. The kids especially loved the quesadillas. Most people went back for second or third helpings. The price was right too! I highly recommend La Taquiza.

We tasted food prepared by La Taquiza at a friend’s home and swore that if we ever needed mobile catering, we would use them. Lo-and-behold…my 50^th birthday rolled around, and we were on the phone immediately.
The crew was fantastic, very friendly, eager to please. Set up on time, brought everything they needed. Everything was fresh, including the handmade tortillas. Highly recommended. Will definitely use them again.

We hired La Taquiza for our rehearsal at my friend’s house. They brought everything they needed for the taco cart and parked in my friend’s driveway. They also set up easily. It was a cheesy Mexican Fiesta themed party, and La Taquiza fit perfectly! Everyone loved the food! We hired them for a party of 50. They made a variety of carne asada and chicken tacos, beans and rice, and quesadillas with all the toppings. There was plenty of food. They came when they said they would, and were really friendly. We had given them a deposit, and when they arrived they said that we did not need to pay the balance until the end of the party. I would definitely hire them again. We even got one of the cooks into our photo booth!

We used La Taquiza for our community HOA pool party for 400 and loved the professionalism, superior service and great tasting food. So nice to not have to worry about a thing regarding food — they brought everything they needed, set up an attractive serving station and were very efficient and neat, leaving nothing behind but great leftovers!

I used La Taquiza for a baby shower and they were a huge hit. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very professional and nice. On the day of the event the two gentlemen that cooked and served the tacos were on time and set up a very nice display. They were attentive during the party and also polite and professional. Oh and the food was delicious… that’s important I guess. We had the chicken and beef tacos.

Had mixed reviews about the food, some liked the adobada, some didn’t, some liked the regular carne asada, some didn’t. I really didn’t TASTE the big deal about it. Might have something to do with the cook though.
The price is reasonable, specially since they actually overestimate the quantity people will actually eat, which is a REALLY good thing. We ended up with left overs and the staff packed it up for us.
Overall the two employees were pleasant to work with, arrived early and were friendly with my guest. No one complained or had anything bad to say. The company was also really nice to deal with, and extra nice about payment options.
I would TOTALLY use them again.

The owner was very friendly, that is why I am not going to kill this place with my review. My fiancée and I went here to seek potential catering services. The food was just okay (representative of the cost of catering, super cheap). The restaurant was what I would expect from a little taco shop on an industrial street right near the border.
The reason we left dissatisfied is because after we tasted the food, the guy informed us that we would have to pay for it. Come on! We are looking to spend 5−6k on catering services and you cannot give us 3 free tacos and a dinky quesadilla? Wow. That was the deal breaker. Next time, weigh out the costs: 3 tacos and a quesadilla are like $ 8, we were going to spend 5−6k. Basic business economics. Make the customer happy.

They showed up on time, cooked the food but did not keep it warm. The rice and beans were hot when they were brought to the site, then they cooked the meats for an hour, and the beans and rice got cold. They put it in a chaffing dish but not sterno fuel. Would not use again.

The food was amazing. We had no complaints about the food.
The company, however, is a different story. I hired La Taquiza to do the catering for our wedding for 160 people. When we initially signed the contract with them, I had given them a document from our venue that included instructions for caterers. La Taquiza agreed to perform all of these duties, so we signed the contract with them. A week before our wedding, we were notified that La Taquiza was not agreeing to follow these instructions for the venue– and by then, we had already paid in full. We were forced to purchase plastic and paper plates and cups, utensils, etc because they refused to put a deposit down on the kitchen of the venue. We had to spend almost $ 400 extra, because of this issue. If they had initially told us this, we would not have booked them for our wedding.
In short: Great food, but major contract issues and false promises. BEWARE.

La Taquiza rules!
We’ve had them do street-​taco style happy hours for several casual corporate events. Their tacos are delicious, the home-​made tortillas are outstanding, and it is an overall great value.
My only suggestion would be to include a veggie option in the main packages. Everything else is top-​notch!

We hired La Taquiza for our rehearsal dinner and they were amazing! The food was to die for, seriously. I have never had better carne asada tacos in my life, not even in Mexico. All of our guests were raving about the food, and they still talk about it!
They showed up on time, were very professional and kind, and the presentation was great. They cooked all the food right there on-​site, which added authenticity and something different.
I highly, highly, highly recommend using this company for any catering needs! They were really easy to work with and I am still drooling over the food. They also let you take home any leftovers, so you can eat it again the next day!
Oh, and the price was SO affordable. It is about $ 10 per person, and you get tacos, quesadillas, homemade salsa, rice, beans, guacamole, etc.
I can’t say enough great things about this place!

In trying to plan a small, affordable high school reunion, I found it very difficult to find a decent venue and/​or caterer in the North (San Diego) County area. We finally settled on having the reunion in the lovely backyard of a private residence, and hired La Taquiza to cater the food. Best decision I’ve ever made!
Even though our reunion was at least a 45 min drive away from their business location, La Taquiza still extended to us an incredible price ($ 10.50 per person), showed up about 10 minutes ahead of schedule, and had the food ready to serve at exactly the prearranged time.
Honestly, where can you find catered food of any kind for that per person price? And their food is excellent! We had the beef and chicken (cooked on site), along with the usual sides of refried beans & rice, freshly cooked corn tortillas (also cooked on-​site!) and condiments. Napkins, plates and utensils are also provided, along with their own service tables and cooking equipment. All we had to do was provide them a small 10′ x 10′ lawn area for set up. Anyone who has planned any sort of event knows how much work goes into just setting up for and preparing the food, La Taquiza takes care of all that for you! Such a deal!
Our two servers were wonderful, very efficient, polite, and entertained our guests with their cooking and preparation of the food on-​site. They served for two hours until everyone was stuffed to the gills, then cleaned up and quietly left, leaving nothing behind but full & happy tummies!
The two ladies I coordinated the event with were very helpful, and were very patient and accommodating, Our headcount had to be increased a number of times over the two weeks prior to the event, and the last change was in the AM of the event date. They didn’t have to do that, they normally require a 24 hour headcount deadline, but they said no worries, they would help us out! One thing I found afterwards, is that we didn’t need to «pad» our headcount — I always plan for a little more just to make sure there is enough food. Not necessary, they provide more than enough food to accommodate the headcount requested.
Our reunion turned out to be an incredible evening, and I can honestly say that a huge part of that success was due to the quality of food, affordability, and excellent service provided by La Taquiza!
