History

Established in 2011.

Photos By Leyna started with a new mom and a childhood wish of one day being a photojournalist. Leyna started with a small and simple DSLR and found herself taking thousands of pictures of her kids. Soon thereafter she moved on to friends only to have word of mouth take it down a more serious path. Upgrades and lots of study has made Photos By Leyna a well respected and trusted business with several commercial accounts for business such as Kaiser Permanente and the Handlery Hotel.

I’m a San Diego native and have never had a reason to leave. I have had an interest in photography since high school when I realized how much I enjoyed the feelings photos evoked in me. I wanted to share it with others and found outlets to do that on my high school paper and yearbook. I started with a little point-​n-​shoot and a lot of film. I read anything I could get my hands on. My composition blossomed.

Photography took a backseat while I went to college and started my career as a high school math teacher. But I rediscovered my passion once I had my boys.

My favorite part of my «job” – if you can call it that – is sharing my work with others. Especially those families who just want to capture on film the love they feel for each other everyday.
