Where other restaurants strive to capture the authenticity of the sixties dining experience, The Steak House on Broadway was one of the restaurants that created it. We aren’t looking to others to create our «concept” – we are inspiring them by ours. One look at our menus tells the story. Hearty meals, prepared just right, served with style, and complemented by a classic cocktail. That’s not simply a dinner, it’s an experience.
And when it comes to our menus, we’re just a step out of the ordinary. Sure we feature the best steaks, chops and seafood that you’re going to find… but expect one of a kind selections too like shrimp stuffed hot peppers, wrapped in smoky bacon, fired on the grill, then nestled in a mouthwatering southwestern cream sauce. Dinner, Lunch, Appetizers, Cocktails and Bar Bites – our menus are a delight in themselves.
History
Established in 1968.
For San Diegans, Roberto DePhillippi is one of the grand names in the restaurant world. Founder of countless restaurants with a variety of styles, he dedicated decades of his life to delivering customers the total experience – fresh, classic meals served in an atmosphere that made every night a celebration.
The cornerstone of all of his ventures, however, was always our restaurant. Such celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Durante and Jack Lemmon took breaks from their trips to the racetrack to dine on prime rib. Bob Hope, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Jack Lemmon bent an elbow or two at the bar. Athletes like Pete Rose, Rollie Fingers and Tommy Lasorda made pilgrimages our way.
Since 1968 The Steak House on Broadway has been in the same location, using the same recipes, and recreating the excitement of Roberto DePhillippi’s vision.
