Toys R Us

Toys r us is overpriced we all know that coming in but this specific location has great customer service a good variety of toys for different ages and a baby section. Now they price match as well so I’m very happy with this store.

I was looking to make a layaway payment and pickup. I was at the customer service desk (where I normally make layaway payments). I waited patiently while the staff was helping other customers; for 15 minutes before I was informed to go over to the register on the other side. As I waited again for another 10 – 15 minutes, the same staff member told me to go to another register. Another 10 minutes passed before I could finally make my layaway payment.
After finally making my payment, I had to wait one-​hour before I could get my item. There were other people who were picking up their layaway items after me, that got their items faster than me. I finally get my item, and will no longer be doing business with this location for any future purchases.
This entire process to make the payment, and retrieve the item should have taken no more than 15 minutes.

Lack of trained staff
Take your business to the location off of East 30^th street. They at least have knowledgeable staff, and attend to your matters.

If the mamager had any sense, they would order extra carts. I went in the store to buy Christmas gifts and there were absolutely no carts left. I saw several other people holding gifts in their hands. Get some carts, you lose MONEY when you don’t provide customers with carts!

Always come to this toys r us. Bigger than national city and closer now i live down the st haha. Although toys r us is a bit pricey they have the biggest selection in toys… duh… staff is really friendly and helpful but the lines usually take a bit but what kid dosent like it here :)

I’m pleasantly surprised that this store location has much improved overall, since the last few times I’ve visited. The floors were cleaner and I was greeted right away.
Last time I visited, I recall looking for a gift for a friend’s kid and wasn’t asked if I needed any assistance. I found my own way to the section I had been searching for, only to be disappointed by messy, almost empty shelves with a few noticeably tampered with packages. Granted it was the Disney Frozen section and it was THE toy of the moment, but the shelves should have been straightened out, as best as possible. There were other shelves that weren’t so organized at that time either.
This time around, they had a wide selection of high demand toys. In fact, the selection of Octonauts was so wide that I couldn’t fit everything in my iPhone camera’s view finder, and the products were still neatly organized on the shelves.
Juan pointed me to the direction of these Octonauts and also to the Shopkins, one of my niece’s favorite toy line. Juan was so helpful. He not only pointed out all the different shelves that carried the Shopkins products, but also pointed out the fast sellers and hard-​to-​find styles. He suggested I check in on Wednesdays, when their new shipments arrive, and to check online for their Series 1 and 2, that should still be available but will be removed soon.
I thought that maybe they were under new management, but was told by Maria, the nice gal that checked me out at the register, that Victoria has been there for years.
I’m leaving this Unilocal review and plan on participating in an online TRU survey, which was circled on my receipt, to offer my positive feedback there. Great store improvement, Victoria!

I like this Toy’s R Us. Been coming here since I was a kid. There’s so many toys here. My brother wanted to buy my daughter a couple of toys. My daughter loves going to Toy’s R Us. Aisles are clean.
The lady who was stocking shelves was friendly and asked us if we needed help. Customer service is great here.
I saw a Hello Kitty plush pillow and almost bought it. Lol! Too many memories here as a kid. We definitely come here often for my daughter. It makes her happy and that’s all that matters.

Very helpful staff! Only sad part was the store smelled like urine :(Check out was fast and manager was super nice. Just need to clean up a bit more.

Place is large and has a large selection. I’m not giving them 5 because condition place was in during our visit. I really don’t blame them as I was there at around 9 pm with only 6 days left before Christmas. Only issue with this place is really the amount of people it brings since we are only a few minutes away from Mexico.

Super disappointed. Called this store Saturday morning as something we wanted to purchase was not available on line. The assistant manager put it on hold for us and said to come by Sunday evening for pick up. I offered to pay for it over the phone but they would not do so and said, just come by tomorrow night as we have it on hold for you. My husband drove all the way from Del Mar to Chula Vista and arrived by 4:45. After waiting for 30 minutes they tell him — Sorry, we sold it to someone else this morning. Seriously? Terrible customer service…

This the closes toy r us to our house. When ever my son goes to the Dr. I take him to get a small toy. Today he decided he wanted to touch and see every toy before he decided to get bubbles. While he and I were shopping g around I got a lot of weird vibes. The employees are very rude and give you weird stares. I don’t know if it’s because a lot of rude Chula Vista residents go and given them trouble. They seemed to be on alert the whole time. They need to chill out. It’s a toy store kids are going to play and have fun. The location also sucks its hidden next to the 5 and behind a trolley track. It smells like sh*t outside. They might have a sewer line or something nearby. It’s bad.

The supervisor «Jonathan» is super rude. I’m in there looking around he stares at me, doesn’t ask if I need help or anything, just stares like I’m trying to steal something. I then walk away from the discomfort he then follows me around the store «secretly» as if I’m stupid and can’t see him. I buy all my toys from toysrus and never had a issue but this guy really has issues.

I was waiting in line before this store openend to go try and by some stuff for my collection. I got in line, and was first in line before the store opened. Once the doors opened, I was cut off by some toy scalpers who rushed the store to get what they wanted.
The next day I tried to talk to the Store Manager (Victoria Johnson) about this issue, and the store’s policy on crowd control and toy scalpers. She was quick to answer, then move on to other customers. As I continued to ask more questions, and get clarity on these subjects she quickly answered then moved on to other customers raising her voice in frustration. Bottom line, she just didn’t want to deal with this situation and gave me the typical call our toll free number response.
As a result, I called 1−(800)−869−7787 and conveyed all of this to an associate that was more than willing to attend to me.
I will never shop at this location again!!!

I have always loved this store since I was a child ! And Now that i Bring my kids hére i get that same feeling of excitement !! This location is one of my favorite Because its always empty and i dont have to make those long lines! Like at the location on sweet water rd! Everyone here is really nice and ready to help you find what you need ! They are

We weren’t even sure if this business was actually open or permanently closed. Lots of shenanigans going on in the parking lot and the entrance to the store front looked so sketchy that we drove to a different Toys R Us instead. Not sure what the deal is, but although it’s closer to us, we won’t be headed back.

This Toys R Us was hidden next to some trolley tracks. lol, I seriously thought I was lost. I traveled down south because this was the only location in San Diego that carried the doll that my sister wanted. It’s small but they have a great selection of toys. There aren’t many employees on the floor, but I actually liked that because my sister and 3 year old nephew were able to run around and try out the toys without us getting yelled at. Checkout was also easy — short lines and quick, friendly employees!

Poor customer service. I waited about 30 minutes to return something. Ridiculous! Never coming again.

This toy store needs a serious overhaul. I looks very dated inside and the customer service (or lack of finding someone to help you) blows.
On the plus side, they still have a VAST VARIETY of toys that Walmart or Target will never have.

Stay away from this place, avoid incompetent staff and very bad customer service.

Since I was a kid I would always be anxious if we were heading up the interstate 5 and exited off L street, cause that meant I would add to my collection of action toys, Ninja Turtles or X-​Men. This place still draws big crowds. Nice to see it still standing over soo many years. Even tho I pretty much grew out of collecting action figures phase, I still enjoy walking the isles and looking at all the toys, wishing I could be a kid again.

Toy store of my childhood
I have many happy memories of coming to this Toys R Us as a child; my first memory of a toy store is from walking inside this location. The double sets of automatic doors, the walk down the long entryway, the smell of toys and happiness, and aisle after aisle of toys. My parents spent a lot of money in the ‘80s and early ‘90s at this place and I am thankful for their decisions.
I do not go down to this part of town often, but when I do, I notice how empty the parking lot is and also the empty stores nearby. I have not been inside the store for almost 12 years; as I write this, it reminds me that I should stop by and see what the interior looks like. It will be a sad day when this store closes.
