U-Pack Moving

Stained my sheets, ruined my bookshelf, broke my dresser. THEN made me pick things up in the rain bc they wouldn’t be able to drop off in a metropolitan area without keeping a trailer over night. IDIOTS.

This was my first time using Upack to move from San Diego to Little Rock Arkansas. The staff was very helpful, the driver that dropped off my trailer was extremely friendly. Such a smooth transition. I recommend them to anyone who is looking to Move long distance. Tip: plan ahead, buy boxes instead of having a bunch of boxes found at grocery stores. Same dimensions make stacking easier… Stack high… Pack smart… Upack is awesome

I used Upack to move from CA to DE. It was a smooth transaction from start to finish. I changed my reservation 3 times and they did not blink. All their staff are pleasant and knowledgable. I like the fact that I can follow my shipment online. I also had the option of storing it until our house was ready.
I hired loaders, which they provide or you can find on your own. If you are on a budget, this company will save you money. Based on my experience, I highly recommend them

I only used U-​Pack (not a movers) because I had to move in under a month — and the scheduling was a huge pain.
Even calling back within that same day of giving them my payment info, I was told that I wasn’t allowed to change my payment option «because it was already in the system.» (Please… this is something that an annoying meter-​maid would say as she writes a parking ticket for someone who is already sitting in the car one-​minute before the meter is up…) This poor customer service was such a MASSIVE HASSLE, especially since we didn’t have access to internet before/​during/​immediately-​after the move.
I would only recommend this to anyone who is NOT on a budget, AND living in a rural neighborhood (because the crates need to sit outside your apartment for at least a day, right?) AND only using this as moving items for storage — NOT A MOVE.

Though it seems to defy all logic, I must like hauling my crap across country because I recently did it again and used ABF. It was the same positive experience at reasonable rates. If I ever move again, I’m going to pull out the stuff that really matters and pack it into my car. Then I’m going to pour lighter fluid on the rest, strike a match, and watch it go up in smoke and/​or give it all to charity. But I strongly suggest anyone doing a move to use ABF. You’ll be glad you’re not dealing with a bunch of sketchy characters who hold your worldly goods for a ransom of hidden, unexpected charges.
From the first call to ABF to schedule a truck at point of origination to the last call to ABF to pick up the truck at your destination, you’ll be treated as you should!

We have a move scheduled on July 30 so while we haven’t actually used their services yet I felt compelled to write a review for their customer service dept in particular Erica Davis who was extremely friendly, helpful and by far the most professional person i’ve come across in ANY customer service dept i’ve ever dealt with. She gave me so much information about how to pack, helpful links, scheduling, keeping in contact, etc… all invaluable for me in such a stressful time! If all customer service agents could be so positive and helpful in all industries the world would run so much more efficiently. Thumbs up to Erica!

There was a $ 300 dollar difference between me driving a rental truck across the country and paying for gas for two vehicles, or letting ABF U-​Pack move me and me enjoying the trip.
I totally used U-​Pack and they were worth it. Delivered the pods on time, we filled them until they squeaked (you have to pack snug and make sure to use a lot of blankets and things because stuff tends to rub and shift) and then they picked them up while we drove from SC to CA. They arrived on the day they promised and when we unpacked we found nothing broken.
IF I need to move again I would consider insuring them but it wasn’t needed this time. The only negative I can think of was that their drop off ‘time’ was between 9am and 6 pm, with a half hour notice. Not very pinpoint but that’s okay.
A final note, if you are using them, ~you~ need to be there because if you’re not and they have to wait it throws off everyone else’s deliveries.

I wish I could give ABF negative 5 stars. I trusted ABF to move my stuff from VA to CA safely. When my «life in a box» arrived in CA, it turned out that their inferior trailer had leaked water and ruined a few of my expensive things. Turns out they only reimburse you for 10cents per pound unless you pay for extra insurance. So, they basically would have given me $ 4 for my $ 500+ worth of stuff that was damaged because their faulty trailer leaked water during the trip.
Thanks for nothing ABF.

The person I talked to on the phone to make reservation (800 number) was very very nice. She was pleasant to talk to and very helpful, BUT people at Chula Vista office are absolutely horrible. Unprofessional and rude. They didn’t call me to confirm my reservation. My relocubes arrived late so my movers had to wait around for them. Driver and unloader of the relocubes seems to not-​care about customer at all. I will recommend this service to my friends but will make sure to be on top of things if they have to rely on Chula Vista office.

I had hell with previous movers (American Van Lines) with their lack of professionalism in not picking my stuff up w/​o warning & then not being able to give me a move date as the weeks passed…& ripping me off almost $ 800 of my deposit only because they said they COULD move me when they couldn’t. This is when I had to find another mover QUICKLY! & fortunately found ABF via an insert of change of address from the post office (which also gives you a coupon for $ 50 off!!).
** ABF IS TOTAL OPPOSITE from those other evil movers!!! ***
You can give them one or two days notice and they’ll send the trailer for you to load your stuff onto it!!! And they DO deliver in the time they claim and can even hold off on delivery of things up to three days or so for free! Very accommodating and helpful! They can even pick up on the same day you call it in (conditions apply)!!!
Not only that but it’s awesome!!! You ONLY PAY for the SPACE YOU USE which is not set in stone until you’re fully loaded & it’s picked up, weight is not a factor. The trailer is a 8’6″ wide x 9′ tall and 28′ possibility of depth, but you use what you need (minimum of 5′ deep). MUCH cheaper than any movers by a lot… superb on services!!! I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THEM!
ONLY THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND…
1) Be sure to get your «Rights and Responsibilities» pamphlet as required to do so by law. They may have it online.
2) BEFORE booking the pick up date, find out if parking the trailer will be an issue either on street or driveway (need 40′ space (trailer & ramp) & it’s very, very tall, won’t fit under a garage). You may have to call police department to verify if ok to park on street. I had room at my origin, but my destination was a concern. Talk to ABF if no room on driveway and parking of trailer on street is not allowed. They may be able to help you out. They did w/​me. :)
3) LIABILITY IS VERY LIMITED as you’re the one loading/​unloading! So pack your things VERY well. (tons of cushion & reinforcement in boxes)
4) THINGS YOU’LL NEED:
a) WORK GLOVES (for putting up the bulkhead, which may be splitting and can give you splinters, plus it’s dirty– and also for moving the ramp?)
b) DOLLY & STEP STOOL (if you yourself are doing the loading/​unloading)
c) TIE MATERIALS SUCH AS ROPE & TARP (to tie your stuff up so it doesn’t fall. I did a web w/​the trailer holes (forget terminology) and the rope. EVERYTHING fell & shifted, even as tight as I thought I had it, but the web held it from going any further. Stuff does get dusty. Doesn’t appear that way but it is dusty, especially noticeable on plastics.
d) BIKE CHAIN AND/​OR LOCK for securing the door while loading (if you don’t do it all in one day or if you need to run out for something). They don’t provide locks you can use.
e) ANOTHER PERSON– The ramp is very heavy (esp. for a petite girl) and to put the bulkhead up to divide your stuff from the rest of the future cargo they load… you may need 2 people.

I used ABF UPACK for a complicated 3000 mile move because it was $ 4000 CHEAPER than conventional rip-​off movers, and it would arrive WAY faster, and on schedule. We opted to pack using «storage pods» and I had total control over the packing and loading of my belongings– the kind of care only an owner would afford.
At the end of the journey NOT ONE THING was damaged in any way. U PACK is AMAZING. I wish I could give this system 6 stars!

My boyfriend and I just moved here from Boston. Everything happened very last minute and we were trying to decide the best way to get ourselves and our stuff out here in time for my boyfriend to start his new job (which was the reason we were moving). His boss suggested we try ABF and it turned out to be the best option out of trucking or trailering our stuff.
ABF sets you up with a «relocube» which is like a pod. You pack it yourself (which I’m sure aids in the «Oh, that broke?! Well, it’s not OUR fault! You packed it!» scenario)
After it’s packed and some dude picks it up you are able to track it via the website and receive notification when it arrives nearest to where you’ll be residing. In San Diego’s case, this would be the Chula Vista location.
ABF will also store the cube for you in case you do not have the space or time right away to get settled. A few days after we arrived we called to have them drop off the cube. They have some very skilled drivers. He arrived promptly and navigated his little fork-​lift like a pro! Very friendly as well. He fit the cube into our parking space easily and all was well.
As it turns out we did not utilize the storage option from ABF and I called them to request that they remove the $ 200 storage fee from our receipt which they did and they mailed us a new copy promptly.
All in all, quite impressed! Moving companies would never give you this much close attention. However, the few times I called to find out when precisely the driver would be arriving to our new address the woman on the phone sounded less than enthused about having to DO something that required work. This was quickly remedied when a more helpful associate took the phone call from her.
Also, some of our belongings got juggled in the move. The vibration must have caused some things to get jostled and a few of the blankets used to cushion other things received friction burn holes! That is pretty much all that went wrong though. We were able to fit our two mountain bicycles, a loveseat, a large dining table, a drafting table, 13 long boxes of comic books (boyfriend’s), and many other boxes and tubs of clothing and stuff.
