Veteran’s Park Recreation Center

Dog park is small but okay. I mean there’s no grass but there’s seating and my dog seems to like it. It’s clean and works out. When do a lot of dogs come though?

It’s a chill little park. I come here just to walk my dog or for my kids to play on the playground. They have a small dog park it’s ok when there’s not a lot of people there. I live across the street so it’s convenient for me. Which is good cuz there parking is not that good. They got a softball/​baseball field but no home run fence which bothers me. This park is good to just chill or walk your doggie but I wouldn’t use it to have a party or an event. They do have a little section for the skater kids so expect to smell weed in the air. And they got a good little size basketball court. The recreation center inside has events like karate & dance for kids so check it out. And what I love bout this park it’s really clean & peaceful that’s always a plus for parks & me.

Brought my daughter here for one of their classes. The staff at the front desk is friendly and helpful.
The facility itself is on the newer side… It is a little small though, so especially when there’s a lot of classes go on, it can get a little crowded. Parking is also a little tough, and the playground is a bit small.
They do offer a ton of different classes for all ages and at a good price!

Very cool spot l! Came to a bday party here, it even had a Dog park. Bathrooms are dirty:(

I have been here numerous of times due to its convenient location. The park is small, but I really like how they include a mini dog park. Not a lot of parking spaces, but you can park nearby Ralph’s, and the city occasionally close the park earlier than it suppose to be.
Lighting is an issue during the evening. It feels unsafe unless there’s baseball, soccer, or party going on. Otherwise, the only well-​lit areas are the dog park and recreational center. Sometimes the basketball courts are lit as well.

Basketball anyone? Heck yeah!
My son’s AAU basketball club uses this rec center once a week during the work week, after school and typical work hours. The one thing I noticed when walking through the front doors was the cool AC running that helps especially during these hot, sweltering summers. The indoor basketball gym is where we spend most of our hours, working on drills, fundamentals, plays and scrimmaging. There are benches along the perimeter of the gym for the parents to sit and watch.
Parking can be tricky and limited. You can park along the main street or go down the driveway ramp (from the parking lot) that leads to the strip mall below.
The gym itself is well maintained and clean. There are separate gym rooms for different activities.
Probably one of the best indoor basketball gyms in the area. Though not the biggest.

Worst. Dog. Park. EVER.

I take James here on Fridays and Saturdays for his Tae Kwon Do class. Its cute watching the kids run laps and do their kicks. I’ve noticed a lot of people taking classes here for fun, including adults. There are hip hop classes, belly dancing, karate, arts and crafts, and more, and prices are usually $ 32 for a couple of months.
There’s also a rock climbing wall and a huge baseball/​softball field, as well as a little park for kids to play. Great for picnics.

This is a review on their dog park or so called «dog park».
Man, they call this place a dog park. They should actually call it a 10×10×15 yard triangle. It is really small. Plus, people do not pick up after their dog. C’mon! People do not enjoy stepping on dog crap. They already provide plastic bags. Don’t be lazy people! This place is really small that you have to be careful not to throw your dog’s toys over the fence. I rather stick with dog beach in Coronado.

Badminton anyone? Heck yeah!
I’ve been frequenting this rec center once a week during the work week for the last month because my friends and I are starting to play badminton again. I have to admit, I really sucked at this game eons ago, but after picking up the racquet many years later, I improved on my game big time. Holler.
I don’t know the official rules of how to play the game, but I don’t care, give me the birdie and I’ll swing that sucker in the air… it’s the perfect stress reliever and quite the workout.
Other than badminton on certain days, they have a variety of other activities that I find interesting. Who knows, maybe I’ll sign up for Zumba or salsa lessons. It’s there and it looks like fun!
Veteran’s Park has something for everyone: basketball courts, baseball fields, skate park, gym, indoor table games and other classes that I might hit up soon if my busy schedule permits.
It’s nice to see that people in this crazy world still enjoy doing recreational stuff like this. I for one will make it a point to get my physical fitness in check now that I’m becoming older and wiser. Well maybe not wiser, but who cares. Let’s go and play now.

There are a couple of different reasons I like this park. First, it’s one of the closest to my home that I feel safe walking around by myself. It’s next to the Ralph’s shopping center so it’s a fairly busy area as far a pedestrian and vehicle traffic. It’s partially built on a slope at the top of East Palomar so you have a beautiful view of the ocean as your rounding the top side of the walking path that goes around the whole park. And it’s a nice little workout because part of the path is on a slope.
There are also nice little covered BBQ areas with tables that you can reserve for free during peak park times. But it’s probably best to reserve it any time to assure you have your spot.
There are two separate playground areas, one for younger children that is fenced and one for larger children. The dog park does kinda suck because it’s small and all dirt.
I haven’t used the rec center portion yet but it looks nice. So I wouln’t have a problem recommending this park.

Veteran’s Park is not my first choice for recreational time in Chula Vista, but it is a solid facility.
The building itself has an actual dance studio with mirrors and bars, for dance classes. There is a gymnasium and some meeting rooms inside, too.
Outside, there are basket ball courts, playgrounds, a skate park and a dog park. The dog park is basically a fenced off area with sandy dirt on the ground.
The parking lot is pretty small but there is ample street parking.
