There’s everything here. It’s a great gym. The only thing anyone ever complains about is that it’s a little too dim.

I love CRC. UC sutudents and receptionist are very nice. Good campus and facilities. Also you can enjoy good restaurants near by!

The number one campus recreation center for tons of reasons. Starting from the aquatic facility to the cardio theater to the racquet ball courts to the basket ball courts to the weights to the running track and finally to the rock climbing area, it is an absolute marvel.

This is a really nice gym with lots of equipment and mostly helpful staff. It’s the other members you have to watch it for.
The worst time to go is 4−8pm or within 45 minutes of closing. That’s when the place is really packed. I generally use the cardio machines (like a bike or elliptical), free weights and some weight machines. At those times you might have to wait for even a set of few weights. On top of that, most of the guys don’t rerack their weights… I try to go in the mornings when the place is less busy.
The staff are usually pretty helpful though. There are a couple of young males that aren’t particularly helpful and just stand around talking. Other than that the staff is approachable and can help spot you, show you how to do things, or even just say hi.
I’ll be sad when I’m no longer a student where the membership is included. Otherwise it’s pretty extensive.

Both the main campus rec and the location in the CARE building offer friendly service and excellent equipment. There are copious group fitness classes most of which are taught by great instructors who pack the room. If you are an employee of the University or Hospital this is a great perk (not free but much less than many gyms). Check it out, you will probably like the campus rec center!

One of the best things on UC’s campus. I loved using this facility during my years on campus, and I definitely miss it now! There are a ton of workout machines, multiple basketball courts and even a few pools. To top it off the architecture of the building is just flat out awesome. Go Bearcats!

The Campus Recreation Center, or CRC, is one of the best things about being a University of Cincinnati student. Being a student you get free (technically, included in your tuition) access to all areas of the gym. All areas like the lap pool, leisure pool, basketball courts, weight room, treadmills, rock wall, yoga rooms and much more. It has all of your essential areas of fitness you would get out of any other fitness center. It doesn’t have all the flash of some of the bigger ‘Globo Gyms” out there like virtual reality screens on treadmills or whatever I’ve just recently heard about, but I totally fine without all the flash.
The basketball courts are on the bottom level; there are a ton, six full sized courts. There is always plenty of action going on here from pick games anyone can jump in on, to practicing alone and even other games like kickball are played here. Also on the bottom floor are the locker rooms and showers. This is kind of an odd location for me. In order to get to the weight rooms and track area you first need to climb up the three floors, six flights of stairs, to get there. Or you can take the elevator, but that kind of defeats the purpose of being at a gym, doesn’t it?
The second floor is the main entrance and lobby area. Also, the rock wall is located here. Kind of a hidden feature of CRC. Not many people know about it. Up one more floor is the track, weight room, lots of treadmills, and other machines. There are also some more lockers and bathrooms but not a full sized shower or locker room.
I am not for sure but alumni pricing for CRC is around $ 25 or so, so it is not a bad investment especially when you compare it against the money hungry chain gyms. Plus, it comes without the threat of a gym continually charging you like so many horror stories people have told.
The parking is a little bit of a downer. It is street parking mostly, unless you want to cough up the money to buy a parking pass to one of the garages but spending several hundred dollars a quarter cancels out that free access to the gym. There are meters right along campus and also if you are willing to walk an extra block, un-​metered spots on the other side of short Vine where I usually park.
Another annoying quirk I noticed and have no idea why it annoys me so much is that the campus cafeteria is located right outside the entrance to CRC. So, you are forced to smell the fried food capital of Cincinnati as you are entering or leaving the gym. Not exactly a smart job planning wise. It kind of kills your motivation.
Other than the horribly placed cafeteria and long distance parking the CRC sports the best bang for your buck of any gym in the area, especially if you are a student. The staff are all students and as friendly as can be and the equipment is all fairly new so your not left struggling to get a machine to work. If your a University of Cincinnati prospective student looking for a perk of the school to set your college choice dilemma over the top, then look no further than The Campus Recreation Center.

The rec has anything and everything you could want. Yoga, Zumba, Spinning, quite a variety of different classes ranging from all different interests. And recently this year they all became free for members, so that’s a great bonus.
There is more than enough equipment for everyone even at peak times after work. Some gyms you have to wait until one frees up. One thing I really like is you can watch tv while you work out, on the flip side they have other quite rooms with machines so you can be more calm and walk on the treadmill or read.
Everyone thinks I’m a nerd, but I love the pool! It’s awesome, really nice, clean, and also a good workout. They have a leisure pool too!
Overall a very great experience. The only negative is the parking. Which sometimes I won’t even go to the gym if there is a basketball game or something going on, which sucks. Also the parking that is available is all metered. So if you want to work out, better make it snappy.

This building is huge, I have had two classes in the building and I go to work out in the gym at least three times a week. I really like how UC has everything set up, there are a lot of free weights, treadmills and much much more. The track has 4 lanes and two are for walking and the other two are for running.
I really like having the climbing wall here, a lot of students do not know about it. Another thing students don’t take advantage of is the basketball courts.
All the staff I have met are really nice and willing to show one the proper way to use a machine.

Huge! It is a very cool building in terms of architecture. It really interacts with the space and creates a unique experience for pedestrians, especially in the winter. I like the vertical columns of snow that fall through the round skylights.
They have a ton of classes, and great facilities. It’s about what you’d expect for a campus gym, but definitely a bit on the upscale and expansive side. Which means it can be a bit daunting navigating it the first time through.
The membership rates are way too high for me to justify it if it wasn’t included in tuition though.

I’ve belonged to a few gyms, and the CRC is best of the bunch. It’s the only one that’s kept me past two years. Even when the gym is packed there are always machines and weights available to work with. The indoor running track has four lanes, so you’re not tripping over people. The current yoga instructors are top notch.
And it’s not full of middle-​aged fat asses trying to fulfill their New Years Resolutions to «finally get fit.»

One of the better gyms I have used in my life. Like all gyms, there are times when equipment and facilities are broken, but at least here it’s usually repaired quickly. Occasionally it is overrun by groups of elementary-​highschool kids but this is usually posted on the website or on Facebook. There is a large variety of equipment and lots of free weights. They do offer classes but I have never taken one. Some are free and some charge, this can be confusing and off putting, but I am not the group fitness type. Lockers are all over the place, so your pricey stuff will be safe. The cost for students is low (free?) but for staff and faculty it is above average. However, with all the facilities’ offerings, the cost is justified. The workers are usually very nice and courteous. I appreciate that.

The rec center at UC is pretty decent… I imagine it’s much better than the fitness centers at most schools. Until recently, students had to pay for group fitness classes which is baloney, but it seems they’re free for now. The running track and the cardio/​weight machines are really nice, and there is plenty of space for weightlifting and stretching. The group fitness rooms are very nice and large.
The showers in the womens locker rooms are pretty gross… I’d wear flip flops in them if you want to avoid contracting something.

Now, I’m not just saying this because I’m a group fitness instructor here — but this facility is out of control. I have worked at many gyms, but this aesthetic and layout here blew my mind. Maybe its because UC has the best architecture program in the nation, so they pulled out all the stops for the gym. Indoor track suspended over the basketball courts, 3 multi purpose rooms, rock climbing, leisure pool, lap pool, jacuzzi. I mean the list goes on and on. I can’t do it any justice you just have to go see for yourself.

UC’s Campus Recreation Center is absolutely incredible. The facility looks straight out of the future, and the equipment matches. Several stories are utilized to the fullest extent at the CRC. The Uppermost floor has all kinds of different exercise equipment. Treadmills, elliptical machines, weights, exercise bikes; the sheer amount of things you can do here is difficult to count. Next to the elliptical machines are racquetball courts.
On the upper floor there are also several exercise rooms that hold regular classes. My wife was particularly impressed with their «Fit Brides» class. The suspended running/​walking track adjacent to the rooms hangs over the basketball courts on the lower floor.
The lower floor has an incredible Olympic sized pool, a recreational pool with a lazy river right next it (more like a lazy creek, it’s not very big), a climbing wall, basketball courts. Everything is kept up and clean, and the people working there are very friendly.
Of course students get in free, but if you happen to be married to one it’s only $ 80 a quarter (10 weeks).
