Chocolats Latour

I can’t believe I’ve been passing up this chocolate at the Northside Farmers Market for so long.
I finally dug into a sea salt and almond bar and WOW! This is excellent chocolate. I can’t wait to try more flavors, especially the really creative ones.
And these bars will be extra fun for sharing and gifts!

Her chocolate is blissful and complex. Brightened my mouth and my whole day. Stop by The Coffee Emporium and grab some!

I live by the simple (and tubby) motto that a day without chocolate is a day without sunshine. I love chocolate. I love chocolate like crackheads love crack. If I were Jesus I would have turned water into chocolate not wine. If I could live anywhere it would be Switzerland, where I would live on the mountainside and dine on chocolate morning, noon, and night. Fortunately, Cincinnati is a veritable Switzerland if only for one reason: Chocolats Latour.
Simply put, Chocolats Latour is the best chocolate in Cincinnati (maybe the world). Their chocolate makes Hershey’s bars taste like molded dirt and Dove bars taste like prison food. I’m not sure if it’s because they handcraft all their creations, use local ingredients and fair trade chocolate, or the owner is the Walter White of chocolate chemistry, but I’d venture to say that I’ve never had better chocolate anywhere.
And the varieties are absolutely inspiring: Black Walnut & Spice Berry, Rose & Sumac, Chili & Carmelized Pecans, Coffee & Cocoa NIbs, and my all time favorite Chocolats Latour bar, the Sea Salt & Almond!
All of the dark chocolate bars are made without milk or butter which means those with dietary restrictions can get in on the fun!
Look for Chocolats Latour at Findlay Market on the weekends or various shops across the city!

If you are looking for a true treat I would recommend these chocolates. They are more expensive than the average chocolate but the texture and flavor are absolutely outstanding. I haven’t tried a bar or a chocolate that I have by love so far. The salted rosemary almond bar is by far my favorite. The chocolatier is super sweet and great to talk with as well. Chocolats Latour is one of my very favorite indulgences.

Chocolats Latour are deep, passionate almost to the point of obsession love. The kind that scares you it’s so deep and yet, you go back for more. A love so strong your head and heart may explode any second. This is also a fact.
They’re so good and so rich. It’s chocolate unlike anything you’ve ever had. Her combination are amazing. Spicy chocolate and milk chocolate with crazy flavors and nuts. I wish I could remember some of the things I’ve tried, but they’re all great. I once did a coffee, chocolates pairing with her desserts and that may have been the greatest day of my life.
They’re hand crafted with local ingredients, fair trade and even the packaging is Earth friendly. What more could you want?
Chocolats (don’t you date put in that ‘e’) are created by a local woman named Shalani, who is the nicest person you’ll ever meet. She’s knowledgeable about her product and will show you just the way she creates each creation … that is, if you can find her.
Everything everyone said is true. It’s hard to find them throughout the city (I just go to Coffee Emporium who always seems to have them.) And yep, they are way, way, way expensive. But these are not your average everyday run-​of-​the-​mill eat’em anytime bad for your Hershey Bars. Hell no, this is dessert as an art to be eaten at the right time, they’re an expression of … love. Love for all!

I have had fine chocolates from my many travels, from Europe to Asia to all over the US. Until I tried Shalini’s chocolates, I thought Cincinnati was a chocolate desert, and my favorites were from a small chocolatier in NYC. But that all changed when I discovered Chocolats Latour. Cincinnati is fortunate enough to have a chocolatier who rivals the very finest chocolates in the world, imho. AND they are made with the added benefit of social consciousness! It doesn’t get any better than that.

I gotta agree with Pat and Elizabeth– these are the very best chocolates in Cincinnati. In my 30-​some years I have had more than my fair share of chocolates from France and all around the world, and Latour chocolates are some of the very best. Funky sweet and savory flavors in adorable molds make them a must eat. These are the best chocolates that I have had in Cincinnati. All of the flavors are amazing, but the Sea Salt Caramel (with dark chocolate) is probably on my top five list of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Ever. For real.
They can be a little hard to find and a little pricey, but they’re worth it.
