Fontainebleau Strings provides live chamber music for weddings, parties, and special events. We work as a string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) but are also available as a trio or duo for intimate spaces or smaller budgets. Fontainebleau Strings has an ever-​growing repertoire of wedding «standards» and much more from Baroque/​classical to pop/​contemporary.

Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Fontainebleau Strings works throughout Southwestern Ohio to Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. Our rates are reasonable; our sound professional.

History

Established in 2000.

All of our members have extensive training, and experience in playing for weddings and other special events. After playing in someone else’s group, I started Fontainebleau Strings around the «turn of the century.» The group includes a small core of professional players from which we can work as a String Quartet (2 violins, viola, cello), a String Trio, or a String Duo. We have an extensive library, always growing, of the classical wedding standards as well as modern and contemporary. It has been my joy to add one or more of my violinist daughters to the mix, as they move into the professional world.

My degree is a Bachelor of Arts-​Music from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I have been playing the viola since 4^th grade, and have loved classical music – and the Beatles – for as long as I can remember. Having played for many weddings in various configurations for several years, I decided to collect my own group of colleagues, my own music library, and give ourselves a name. «Fontainebleau Strings» is named after the street where my family lives, and also the location of a famous music school in France. I believe that most of those tunes we so often hear at weddings are heard a lot for good reason: they are beautiful, appropriate, and people like them! But everybody’s wedding is their own unique event; if we can work up a special song or two – something out of the ordinary – then we are glad to try to make that happen.
