Disappointed! I came here for Macaron Day and besides the fact their macaron are tiny for 1.50 they are a hit and miss. Some were good(strawberry), others hard as rock(Nutella, mint chocolate).

Avoid the cupcakes… they are hit or miss. While the flavor is there, the consistency in which I’ve gotten old, hard cupcakes has been way too often. Worth the drive to Cocoa Bites in Loveland. Too bad, love shopping local, but can’t support a business who doesn’t make quality their first priority.

This tiny place with no parking I know of except a couple spots on the street out front is my very favorite place to get croissants in town. The always seem to have the usual plain butter croissants(crescent shape) as well as chocolate(rectangle), almond(crescent), and ham and cheese(rectangle). The chocolate croissant here is, I believe, the very best of its kind to be found in greater Cincinnati, even better than the ones at French Crust downtown. The ham and cheese is very, very good; and even better when warmed up for 5 – 10 seconds in the microwave There are a ton of other pastries and desserts available, including but not limited to a large variety of macarons, tortes, scones, and schnecken, most of which I have never gotten around to trying because of my fixation on the croissants. Prices are reasonable for the quality involved here, and if you want to sit down and enjoy a pastry, they do have a few tables inside. Service is always quick and friendly. The inside is decorated beautifully, with all their wonderful baked goods arranged attractively around the small space I do wish they opened a bit earlier so I can get a pastry for breakfast, but for some odd reason they do not open until 9am Strongly recommended.

Weirdest experience of my life, I walked in there to simply buy some croissants, and then all of a sudden the owner came out and started yelling at the girl behind the counter. When I say yelling, I mean violently yelling. After he stormed off, the girl behind the counter, who was very sweet, started sobbing in front of me. I asked her how often this type of thing happened and she told me it happens pretty frequently. Apparently, the owner will take any mistake the bakery has out on the people running the front. I’m confident that you asked any of the girls working the front, they could confirm a similar situation happening. Croissants were good though.

I came here for Macaron Day, so this review does not consider any of the(delectable looking) desserts they offer aside from those. These are baby macarons, half the size of what you get in OTR, and $ 1.50 a pop. They have some interesting flavors: pb&j, coconut, nutella… I had the latter two, and they weren’t bad. I also a mocha and a lemon. The lemon was very tart, and they were all so sweet I became glad they weren’t larger. This place is directly across from Coffee Please, so I may come back to try one of the croissants or brownies. Bonus star for the young woman behind the counter being really sweet.

Almond croissants are amazing. Best ones in the area. We drive from Independence KY just to get some.

Frieda’s Desserts is a hidden treasure in downtown Madeira. The owner is a German master baker. Their desserts are phenomenal. They serve traditional southern German style pretzels(Brezeln, for anyone who is a fan!) My only complaint is that they don’t have more! It’s almost impossible to have German style breads and rolls unless I bake them myself — and I’m NOT a master baker. I only wish that Frieda’s would evolve into a full service bakery instead of just strictly a German Patisserie.

the petit deserts are amazing. FORGETTHECUPCAKES and even the macarons. you can find those in other places anyway. the croissants are amazing too. I scoured NYC looking for a better almond croissant and I couldn’t find one!

New to Cincy and had to try Schnecken… it was really good here. So rich. Disappointed the macarons were 1.50 $ for a teeny tiny one… one bite! Look forward to trying other things!

I agree with Lisa — I don’t understand why there are not more reviews. Maybe because people don’t know about it? I had never heard of it either, but a co-worker got a cake for a birthday today and I am actually eating it right now and it is delicious. Soft, moist and the icing and filling are delicious. I think it is a yellow cake with caramel and buttercream frosting. I will definitely be checking this bakery out in person one day soon!

Totally disappointed. Bought cupcakes today for a friends birthday. Bought a couple for another friend to drop off. The cupcakes were not fresh. The icing on one totally lifted off and was hard(was suppose to be butter cream) The inside filling was non-existent. The women put extra paper in the box with shifted and smashed the top of the cupcakes and pulled the icing off one of the cupcakes. Over priced for what you get …

I’m a little shocked that Frieda’s doesn’t have any reviews on Unilocal. This is one of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to. The cakes… pies…pastries…everything is exceptional. Their chocolate mousse is hands down the best I’ve ever had. They also have baked bread that is fabulous and not much more expensive than a loaf from Kroger(and need I say far and away better tasting). It’s carb heaven and I could come up with a few more overly gushing sentences about Frieda’s but I’ll stop… forget the calories and go!
