Love the food, hate no move deliveries. I am a senior citizen and it helps sometime to have delivery.

After a late night of Party’n in Bond Hill, I decided to walk home. This was not a good idea, as I live in Walnut Hills. This was about a two hour walk. Somewhere along my seemingly endless trek I came over a slight hill to see this shining beacon of hope. Blue lights and Bullet Proof glass; all the signs of a good meal to come. I told the guy at the counter were I was walking to and were I had come from. He laughed, looked at me like I was crazy and assumed I hadn’t been there before. I have only heard miracles about this place, so I asked him what I should have. Before I finished talking he answered with a firm: «You want the fish.» I grabbed a soda and waited for an eternity for my fried fish. It takes forever because its DEEP fried fish made to order. The Fried Fish here is a National Treasure. The breading is some miracle of modern science. Coarse ground corn, large granulates of sugar, and the appropriate amount of salt from a crunchy crust made for the gods. The fries were just frozen bulk fires. Nothing special there. The fish however; was unlike any other. I left and thanked they guy at the counter and set out for the rest of my seemingly endless walk. I arrived a home near 5:00AM and celebrated by eating the remaining fish on my front porch. EPIC!

You want a yee-ro bro? ok, that’s not what they sound like, but for some reason, it’s what I hear, and anytime I go to the hook, I want a yee-ro, not a Guy-ro… however you say it, it’s delicious, the double can feed 2. sometimes twice. Their fries aren’t bad, not sure I’ve ever ordered anything else here, but if you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop in and try the delicious food.

You may not think Hook Fish & Chicken is worth it at first glance, what with bullets flying over your head when you’re trying to order your gyro. But once you get in there, you’re in a whole other world. It’s some good mood food.

Driving by, you may think Hook Fish & Chicken is selling used cars, with it’s giant hot air balloon, streamers, and dancing-waving arms man. Despite the confusion, this place is always packed! HF&C is a small restaurant with a take-away counter and drive thru. There’s minimal space to eat inside, and there’s always people queuing for food. You’ll find a robust menu of fried foods, highlighting fish, chicken, shrimp… if you can fry it, you’ll find it here. It kind of reminds me of this: For under $ 10, you receive a take away box filled to the brim with three gigantic pieces of fish or five pieces of fried chicken. Sides include french fries and coleslaw, or you can order a number of other things such as hush puppies or fried zucchini. The box was so full, it could barely close! I definitely got my money’s worth. Need a beverage? Check out their cold case. They even carry Faygo! Service is slow; expect to wait about 15 – 20 minutes for your food as everything is fried up, made-to-order. What needs improving? Less salt, please! Each time I’ve been, the salt overwhelms the food. It’s already fried, let us taste the flavor.
