Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati

Located in what was once a former schoolhouse, the Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati has within a few short years filled a gaping hole in this region, bringing a wealth of Irish & Irish American music, drama, art & literature to a welcoming public.
It may come as a shock to some, but just as we are not all stooges of the Republican party, not everyone in this area is of German ancestry. There are at least 40 million people throughout the world who claim Irish lineage & I imagine no small number of them are located in or around Cincinnati. Thanks to the efforts of this Center’s founders, a small group of dedicated volunteers & sponsors such as Culture Ireland, we have access to a great variety of regular programming, from concerts, to film screenings, plays & readings & many more events to highlight the cultural contributions of the Irish to this underserved group here in this area.
Events are held in the cafegymatorium, typically on an elevated stage & alternate between general admission & ticketed seating. There is a tea room that also serves some modest food options, & a bar, with an exterior cleverly made to resemble a thatched roof cottage. Works of art created & sold by an area painter line the walls of the Center’s interior, with their description & price & there is a bulletin board listing upcoming events, if you ever want to stop by & have a look around. There’s no need to wait until St. Patrick’s Day to enjoy the wonder of the Irish & their contribution to the arts & culture of the world, & in Cincinnati, there are few better places to do so than here.

Great center to celebrate Irish culture on Eastern Avenue in an old CPS school. They have a tea room, a pub and an auditorium for performances.
My first visit to the center was last year for a birthday party inthe auditorium with Irish food, music and of course Guinness.
I recently attended the ArtsWave sampler day here in February & returned to celebrate St. Patrick’s day.
Their Guinness is as close as you can get to Guinness in Ireland, we asked about it & they told us they go through so much of it their kegs are fresher than other local pubs.
