The menu at Lucy’s Diner is fairly basic, but it’s full of comfort food – grilled cheese, soups, chili. If you’re ever driving through this part of town and aren’t interested in fast food, Lucy’s is a good option.

This place will never get my money again. Noticed not 1 Afro American worker or guest besides myself. Everyone in front of me was happily greeted but I was told my to go order would be an half hour. Typical Reading…

Outstanding sandwiches and the fries really are amazing(as advertised). The portions are big and reasonably priced!

We went in because I love going to independent little diners. My general experience with places like Lucy’s has always been good(or great) food and fast, friendly service at good prices. However, my experience at Lucy’s was far from usual. First of all, the lighting was very poor and the décor was outdated. I guess the best words for the atmosphere was messy and a little overwhelming(that may have been the couple arguing loudly a few tables down). I just can’t be sure of what it was that made me feel so tense while I was there. Maybe it was the fake plants(that needed dusting) with that dim lighting and all the clutter on the walls. Maybe it was something else. Anyway, the food was of less than average quality and very very bland. I never add salt to my food after cooking, but this time I had to. Additionally, the plating was messy and I couldn’t seem to get the greasy chili from my cheese coney off of my hands. The service staff was curt, but not rude. My fiancé waited ten min to get a refill on a pop. I just felt like no one really cared about the food or the service. The price was cheap, but we could have spent the same amount of money going across the street to McDonalds and had food with more taste, quicker service and no weird vibe. Unfortunately, this little diner didn’t live up to my expectations.

Awe Lucy’s Deli. On our latest adventure to find the best greasy spoon, we found ourselves in Evendale and saw this place from the road, turned our car around and headed in! Upon entering you immediately feel like you are in a Garden Ridge Showroom. Their are fake plants everywhere. There are actually lights in some of the plants and framed motivational posters line the walls as you eat. I’m guessing to say something like, «Hey man — you CAN finish that omelette. Just go for it!» Overall the atmosphere is a little cluttered and kind of off putting. For breakfast I ordered up eggs over medium, an english muffin, fried potatoes, and a side of bacon. Only one of my eggs was cooked over medium the other was super runny and white inside, gross. The fried potatoes were underdone for my taste. And the bacon tasted flabby, old and not very fresh. The pancake we ordered was great, and the western omelette was above average as well. Tasted very fresh and not greasy. Is it weird to say I actually prefer it greasy? I love when they griddle the veggies to perfection and pile it high with cheese. Just my personal opinion. The good news is, we didn’t need a nap afterward. Overall the food was standard, and filled our bellies. The highlight was meeting Lucy herself and she told us to come back and try the Rueben and the soups. Until then, 3 — stars.

Had breakfast here… Very bland… not impressed for the money and I doubt I’ll ever go back. Girlfriend liked what she got however my pancakes would have been better at McDonald’s

The best BLT sandwich! It’s loaded with crispy bacon, the whole thing is probably not the healthiest but it is mouthwatering.

We love this place. Fast friendly service with reasonable prices on everything. And it’s great to support a family run business instead of chain.

We meet for lunch at Lucy’s at least once a week. Favorite among the group is the double decker turkey and bacon with fries, the sandwich has a pile of crispy bacon. Excellent!

There is no such ting as an objective viewpoint. We all enter into every situation with bias based upon our upbringing, education, and past experiences. With this being said I so very much wanted to rate Lucy’s 5 starts. It’s independent and it competes with a McDonald’s across the street. I was expecting to be blown away by the down-hominess of the place. Alas, however, because this place is immensely average. I ordered Goetta & Eggs with a small side of Biscuits & Gravy w/coffee. The coffee was perfect; strong but not bitter. Plus the eggs were cooked exactly over-medium(which is rare. Most places opt to be on the over-easy side). However it’s clear that their gravy comes from a can… a real disappointment. Plus, as another reviewer noted, their goetta is underdone. The service was adequate after my food arrived, but before that was a little sporadic. Like I said, I really wanted to rate this place a 5 and tell you to go support the little guy. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go there, but it won’t get the perfect breakfast that you might expect from a mom-and-pop operation.

We love Lucy’s! We meet our friends there every Sunday for breakfast. Great little neighborhood restaurant. It’s a deli style place not an upscale diner. Laureen and Tuesday are great waitresses. And don’t forget to say hi to Lucy’s adorable son Art who works the desk.

My family stooped here for dinner after a basketball game. Our expectations were exceeded! The food was great — vegetable soup was the best I have had anywhere. Service was prompt and very friendly and Lucy herself checked to make sure we were satisfied. The décor was quaint, but being Feb 1st, it was time to take down the Christmas decorations :) We will definitely recommend this to friends!

Lucy’s is a diner through and through. The breakfast we ate was cheap and satisfactory for the price, but not somewhere I need to rush back to. Mainly we arrived at Lucy’s because: 1) Our cat is named Lucy 2) We have always joked about going 3) The Waffle House was closed and we were hungry. The goetta wasn’t firm, but the egg sunny-side up was cooked perfectly. The waitress recommended the french toast. Nice and thick, properly cooked, but not the best ever.

I stopped in for a quick lunch. The service and ambience is exactly what you would expect from a deli in Reading, OH, very down to earth and friendly. I however, found the food to relatively poor compared to other local greasy spoon sort of deli. I had a simple ham&cheese sandwich, but found the quality of the ingredients less than top-notch. The waffle fries were quite good but also quite standard. I would not recommend this restaurant in the sense that a restaurant in the end is about the food.

Pretty good cheap breakfast. The biscuits and gravy are pretty good — not as good as Bluebird in Norwood. The omelet was really good. Décor is horrid — I always think WWGS(What Would Gordon Say) — its like they went to a garage sale and just bought everything and then put it all up on the walls… but the service is good and the food is good — so I’m sure we’ll be back.

Good greasy spoon breakfast, but still leaves a little bit to be desired. The toast has always been more«chewy» than toasty, and the OJ is definitely from concentrate, which I don’t like. The omelets are pretty good though.
