Here’s what I like most about this place — they keep their lights on all night long.
The OtR Chamber is amazing — and, honestly, I don’t think they get the recognition they deserve. They are working to really improve the neighborhood, and as important, the neighborhood’s reputation.
It’s no secret that my pet project is to improve Over-​the-​Rhine. Its such a an amazing place full of amazing things to do, marred by some horrible events from its past. This improvement is just what the council is trying to do, with their neighborhood initiatives, a close police relationship and basically friendly attitude towards everything going on.
I first went here for a community safety meeting. The space is beautiful — all exposed brick with long tables for meeting. The people working were kind, interesting and determined. They had an agenda and stuck to it — taking time for questions but overall keeping everything focused. I liked that.
I actually felt safer in the neighborhood after learning about all the things they are working on. If you live or frequent OtR and have never bveen to one of these meetings, I recommend it wholeheartedly.
And yes, they keep their lights on all night — a nice move to keep everything a little more safe. Although, if thy keep working like they are now, who knows? Maybe they won’t need too in the future.

The Over-​the-​Rhine chamber of commerce is one of many organizations that are working to increase vitality and economic diversity in Cincinnati’s most beautiful neighborhood. It was formed in the early 1980’s by Jim Tarbell and other concerned parties.
The work on many things including an anti-​drug program, Second Sunday on Main, and a leads luncheon to learn about other businesses. They have a membership in which members will receive discounts on health care, technology, and much more.
The organization has over 500 members making it the largest Chamber of Commerce in Cincinnati.
The commerce holds Safety Sector meetings which are informational meetings for businesses in Over-​the-​Rhine. I attended last months meeting and was interested in everything that was prevented from crime statistics, new buildings, new businesses, and proposed construction.
