Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa

Used to be great. Then they opened the Mason shop and it went downhill. A few great staff members, but overall I’d say find another place. Really the cost of daycare varies from day to day depending on who checks you out. More than once putting my 77lb pup in my 50 lb pups harness causing her to whimper and restrict her movement. New staff has no control over the pups individually or in groups. Took our pups somewhere else and no more bite marks or noses rubbed raw when we pick up.

We have been taking our dogs here for boarding for years and highly recommend. We always request the indoor/​outdoor runs which are more expensive but worth the extra cost. Our two 50 lb dogs share a run and they have access to the outdoor portion from 6 – 7 a.m. to 7 – 8 p.m. At home they are used to going out in the morning abt 8 a.m. and taking an evening walk between 8 and 9 pm for their final «business» so the schedule at the kennel works great for them.
We have had to take medications for the dogs many times (for up to 4 dogs) and have never had any issues. One of my dogs also has pretty significant allergies so I take her food and have never had any problems there, either
My experiences with Red Dog have not all been perfect (a lost reservation and two dogs fed together that should not have been) but I feel that it is unreasonable to expect perfection when dealing with dogs or people and I am more interested in how mistakes are dealt with. Red Dog has always been very up front about any mistake and has always handled things in a very professional, caring manner.
When my two young dogs first started coming here they were very shy and scared and while they still may prefer my king bed to a kennel stay they are happy and relaxed when they get dropped off now which seems the most important review of all!

I chose to give it one star but I should give it zero! This place is beyond bad. On 2 separate occasions our grooming was switched from one groomer to another. We were never called or notified in any way of the change! It was only upon arrival that they mentioned it. We loved the first person and neither of the other 2 were as good. On 2 other occasions we had our appointments erased! Yes erased! I know this because, since they don’t send out reminder calls, texts or emails (like my hair salon does) I would call to confirm the appointment a week or so before. After confirming we showed up and were told we didn’t have appointments. On the last occasion they said the would go ahead and take my dogs. Now normally when I take them in at 9am I get them back about 1pm. On this occasion they were there before 8am and I didn’t get them until 4:30. Then when I picked them up they were scalped! They left their fur long on their faces but the legs and body were almost shaved! They looked horrible! I felt embarrassed for them. I showed my displeasure and the receptionist said, «I can see your upset! The manager is gone for the day but I’ll have her call you tomorrow!» I’ve still yet to get a call 2 weeks later. Needless to say but I’ve found somewhere else to take my dogs and I’d suggest you do too!

I’m really surprised by some of the negative reviews for Red Dog. I’ve been taking my dogs here at least once a week for two years, for boarding, daycare, and grooming, and never had any issues.
As soon as I say the word «camp», they get super excited and race to the car. Both dogs are warmly greeted by name every time they arrive and they leave happy and tired! All of the staff have been kind, friendly, and professional.
I’m in the process of relocating out of Cincinnati and in temporary housing for several weeks. As you can imagine, this can be very confusing for a dog. Red Dog day care has be a haven for my pups with so much change going on. I know they’re in good hands in a place that they know so well. Thanks Red Dog!

This might be the first time I have severely downgraded a review, so here goes. We can no longer trust this place. The last few times we’ve taken our dog, there have been minor screw-​ups with the reservation (wrong info, activities, dates etc) that were fixed upon arrival. It has also become a minor annoyance that whenever you call their main line you’re almost always put on hold for considerable time.
However, the final straw was when we recently dropped off our dog for 10 days and they once again screwed up his reservation (which was confirmed twice, in person and on phone) and forgot to put him in daycare for the 10-​day duration. That’s right… we dropped off our dog (early in the morning) with the 2x confirmed expectation that not only would he have extra business breaks but that he would be playing daily with other dogs in daycare. SO when we picked him up after 10 days we found out, after looking over the bill (not as much as we thought it would be) that he sat in his cage pretty much for 10 days straight. Now we’re wondering if they lied to us on other visits about his care.
We will never take our dog here again and will share this experience with our friends and veterinarian. We simply cannot trust this place any longer. Now I understand why there has been a slow uptick in bad reviews recently… they’re true.

First off I would give ZERO stars if it was an option. We took our dogs here handful of times. After we picked them off the first time, we thought something was wrong. We noticed things were not given to our dogs. When we asked about it we were told they didn’t want which we know is false, basically brushed off. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and left them again. Unfortunately more of the same, this time they weren’t given anything extra that we requested and the front desk stated, «they didn’t want it». We’ve seen them on camera at the new kennel doing the exact opposite, so I know I was lied too. After hearing the explanation, we wanted to speak to a manager. When we brought this up to management, we were told the same thing. Further rasing more suspicions. Like other reviews I agree they nickel and dime you for everything. If they aren’t getting any of that what’s to say they’re not getting forgoing about and left to sit in doggy jail.
Last but definitely not least, one of the beds was soiled multiple times. It irritates me because we wanted to trust this kennel, it came recommend from our vet. We have moved on and found a way better kennel that offers free webcams. Please search around there are other options for your pets!

As a dog trainer and someone who has had a lot of experience with kennels, I am very particular about where I board my (anxious, high-​energy, lovable) dog. I decided to try Red Dog. I was impressed by the facility, although the staff was short at drop-​off and I wanted to ask some questions but felt rushed. Long story short, my dog had a seziure for the first time while there and I was very impressed by the way it was handled. They called me immediately, texted me when I didn’t pick up, and assured me about the situation over the phone. They moved him to a kennel where he could go outside to help him calm down in the kennel. They were very informative and polite when I called to check in on him. I was a little put off that they charge $ 3 to administer medication (as it is already quite expensive, I feel that this should be included). Overall though I am very pleased and will be taking my dog back here in the future.

I wish I could award no stars. After losing our reservation and vaccination paperwork, we picked up our dog who had not been bathed or had her nails trimmed like we had requested. She had a huge scratch on her nose as if she had been locked in a cage and she acted like she hadn’t been fed. I’m appalled by this place!

I love this place! I take my dog there for dog care at least once a week and she always comes back completely exhausted from a very full and active day. The facilities are well maintained, the staff greets us by name when we come in, and the prices are reasonable.
We recently purchases a subscription to their actual dog park as well, and while I was a bit worried about the initial price tag, one visit assured me that it was a sound investment. The park has tons of cool obstacles for dogs to enjoy (including a water fountain for the summer) and plenty of room to run. It seems very well maintained and there are large areas of mulch which is nice when the grass is just too wet.
I highly recommend trusting your four-​legged friend to Red Dog.

We have taken our dog to Red Dog a few times now and are just not happy with the service they provide. Red Dog has a policy that if you can’t pick up your dog before 1 pm that they charge you for a whole extra night. I understand having to pay a little extra in order to pick her up later in the day, but a whole nights worth just to get her 1 hour later seems excessive. I can understand this policy at certain times, but I think applying this policy to Sunday is extremely unaccommodating to people who may be taking a weekend trip. Red Dog is open until 4pm on Sunday but will charge you a whole night if you want to pick the pet between 1 and 4 pm. Red Dog also charges $ 3 to give the pet medication. Red Dog will also not provide you a quote before you drop your pet off. That way when they give you the bill they can inform you that oh by the way they tacked on an extra night and some other fees. They really try to nickle and dime you whenever possible.
Honestly, I think the purpose of a dog sitting facility is to be accommodating to the people dropping their pets off. Red Dog is anything but that. I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone. There are much better places to board your pets in the Cincinnati Area.

We dropped our dog at Saturday at 12 noon and picked him up at 1:30 on Sunday. $ 49.00. Wow. The gal at the front desk was cold and short. So we grabbed our dog an left. When we got home he ran inside and drank a full bowl of water. We will not be going back!!!

Great place. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a tour of the facility. The price seems reasonable but extra services (i.e. early check-​out, 20min personal play time) cost a little more. Ozzie seemed great when we picked him up. Would definitely use Red Dog Pet Resort on our next trip to Cincy.

I’ve taken my dog here a few times for grooming, and they always do a good job, and the price is very reasonable. However, he now has kennel cough. I’m not sure what their policies are for sick dogs but he contracted something from there, and now my dog is suffering as a result.
All in all, I’m satisfied with their grooming, but since it is more than just a grooming facility, there are allot more dogs around, and thus the risk of your animal getting something from another dog is higher. I’m a little weary of the idea of taking him back there for further grooming.
Point of this review is not to say this is a bad place to take your pet, but more of an FYI notice that this is in fact a kennel and therefore when you take your dog here the risk of him getting something is greatly higher.

I do not recommend this place. They called me recently while I was away on a business trip and said that the last time that I was there I had an unpaid balance. I asked them to call me another time and to send me documentation since I needed to research the dates and payments etc. They called again on my cell phone while I was away on another business trip and did not send the info as requested. I finally had an opportunity when seated at my desk to call them and get the info and they had informed me that it had been turned over to collections. I have no idea if it is even a valid debt. I will pay anyway and it will probably mar my credit report forever. Beware. It would have been nice if they called in the same week or month. I feel they were a bit aggressive in this matter and would not recommend them because of this. We are now taking our dogs to Dogtown on Burnet Road. At least they are organized and no how to treat their customers.

I take my high energy dogs to Red Dog once a week and it makes a huge difference in how they behave. Red Dog is the only place in town I could find with an area for small dogs which makes me feel better leaving my guys. The staff is always friendly and my dogs love going.
We have also tried the pool and the swim instructor is wonderful.

This facility is really clean and the employees really seem to care about the dogs there. However, I took my 1 year old Great Dane there for 3 nights and when I went to pick her up, she immediately pooped 4 times in a row outside in the REAL grass. She held it in all weekend and I can think of two reasons why this happened: 1. They didn’t let her out right after she ate breakfast/​dinner and/​or 2. Red Dog doesn’t have a seciton of real grass where dogs can go to the bathroom (which seems pretty ridiculous). You would think real grass would be a no-​brainer for a pet resort because most dogs are potty trained and don’t feel comfortable going to the bathroom on fake grass. Weird. I might take my dog back for daycare, but definitely not for an overnight stay.

The dog park is worth spending the $$$ for!!! It’s clean and dogs are trained!

I organized a Bark Mitzpaw here for a dog-​themed event with my synagogue’s friendly dogs. The folks at Red Dog were awesome, and the Jewish (and non-​Jewish dogs) had a great time, as did their owners. We had a great time in the park that day! Special thanks to all the staff who helped make it happen.

my dog loves day care and after a day she is knocked out foe the rest of the night and when I have to go out of town I always use them cause I know the great staff will take care of all of my dogs needs

I bought a LivingSocial deal for a grooming for my dog and took her to Red Dog yesterday. She loved it! I was a nervous pet mom because she is a puppy and had not been to the groomers yet, but she did great. The staff was awesome and really cared about my dog. I cant wait to take her back for another bath!

Red Dog is great. Our Golden Retriever, Hayden, is as neurotic as they come. We boarded him one weekend while we went to Chicago. He got upgraded to a suite and they spent extra time with him to help him calm down. He came home with a little report card that was so cute! Made me feel like he was really taken care of while we were away. My husband paid for lots of extras so it was a bit expensive considering his swim, grooming, extra walks etc. Guilt is pricey. Worth every penny. Will certainly leave him with them again. He also gets his grooming there and they do a great job with him. We are very impressed!

Facility is clean and spacious. I take my dog here for doggy daycare and occassionally a nail trim. When he comes home, he definately got his exercise and sleeps good.
Staff is friendly however when I have questions, I feel rushed.
