History

Established in 1965.

Mr. Richard Kniesel Sr. founded Kniesel’s Sunrise Automotive in 1965. Since then it has transformed into what is known today as Kniesel’s Auto Service Center.

From Richard Sr. to his son Gary Kniesel, to his grandson Brent, the torch has passed. Each generation has equipped the next for valuable service to the community of Citrus Heights and surrounding areas.

Kniesel’s only employs the top automotive technicians available. We offer full benefits to our employees, and are always striving to make sure the working environment is safe and healthy. All of our technicians are highly trained professionals with ASE and many other notable certifications in all areas.

Kniesel’s is a AAA approved repair facility. We have excellent standing with the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

Our family business has brought me many joys and fulfillment. I am happy to be able to provide a great working environment to all the staff and am very proud of the years of great customer service and work we have performed. I am very proud of my team.

I like to give back to the local community financially and with my time. I am on the board of the NorCal AAA, the board of the local Rotary Club and am an active member of my church. I also feel like I have a calling to make a difference in Africa. I have visited Rwanda three times and have built wells, helped build schools and more. A group of us is working on helping the country work on Reconciliation through the organization PHARP Rwanda.

My daughter, husband and three small children were visiting from Oregon over the holidays.
Their van needed some very immediate work done to make the car driveable so they could get it home. Last minute of course.
Five stars to Luke Allen and everyone at the Citrus Heights shop for being so responsive and helpful in a time of need.
They took care of the problem and sent my daughter and her family on their way home.

I know when I leave Kneisel’s that I am driving a safe car, repaired by experts. Vince and Mike are professionals who keep me informed on the progress of my car repairs. How refreshing that I don’t have to call and ask (like the Ford dealership service center). I have had several cars repaired by Kneisel’s, and will loyally return there for any future repairs.

I have been taking my cars there for several years, usually for oil changes, and occasionally for other services/​repairs.
Most recent visit was for oil change and the list of 60k services. Car (a 2005 Ford Five Hundred) has about 54k miles, but I’ve been driving it for ten years, and some services were definitely due or overdue.
They carefully explained the services (definitely due, and recommended), and I specified that I wanted them all done, with ten years use on the car and a long trip planned. In about 8 a.m., all done by about 5 p.m. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and there was a lot to do (cooling system, transmission, spark plugs — expensive to replace in my car but not due again for several tens of thousands of miles, full bumper-​to-​bumper inspection, oil change/​lube, and probably a few other things I don’t recall at the moment.
The car sounds better, runs smoother, and it appears so far that gas mileage is better (back to where it used to be, I am hoping, but that will take a while to be sure about).
Read their statement of principles, posted in the shop. That is how they operate.

As a young girl, I don;t have much knowledge of cars and what it takes to fix them. Th epoeple at this place don’t take advantage of that. Everyone is so nice and makes sure you understand everything that is going on with your car. They do let you know what should be fixed and how serious the problem is but without pressuring you into having the work done that specific day. I will continue to bring my car here as I have found no better service anywhere else! :)

Personally, I never trust an auto shop. I am used to my mechanics back home and always try to avoid taking my car into service BUT let me tell you how awesome this shop is. First off, If you don’t have a ride back to your home, they will either drive you home in their company car or order you and Über. They also will pick you up early in the morning to help you retrieve your vehicle. WHO KNEW ?! This is beyond customer expectations. Second, they really do thorough work. My car is falling to bits and yes that does get expensive. They try very hard to get everything done at a reasonable cost and time frame. I am very happy with their services and will be coming back to fix my car here in the future.

I was introduced to Kneisals when my car got into an accident and I received auto body repair. I found out that they had a service center as well. I have been searching for an honest mechanic, and I was pleased with their work and customer service. Highly recommend!

I always make an appointment ahead of time to avoid any type of hassle. They are very quick and alerts me with everything they do with my car. They also help me by letting me know other things that my car needs.

My experience with Kniesels was that their marketing did not match the results I received. They have a whole webpage dedicated to saying they are «experts» in the kind of vehicle I had brought them and after weeks and weeks of trying to figure out issues and spending $ 1,000’s of dollars I had to take my vehicle to another shop where it was repaired in a few days for a fraction of the cost. I was also forced to call them often for updates to try and move things along. In the end I feel cheated out of time and money.

When my car wouldn’t start I wasn’t sure where to take my car to get fixed. My fiances’s parents recommended Kniesel’s. I spoke with Jason and he was extremely helpful and accomadating. My car was fixed in two days and I haven’t had any problems since and my car runs great now. I actually get 4 more miles per gallon on my car since doing the fuel treatment system cleaner they offer. I highly recommend Kniesel’s. Great place.

They were ultra quick, very courteous, explained everything in a clear way and beat the estimate they gave me. The waiting room is nice with TV and wifi and some coloring pages and things for the kids. They’ve got a car rental place (I think it was enterprise) right there in the lobby which is super handy, but they also offered me a free shuttle ride home! These people know how to do customer service!

I was referred to Kniesels because I purchased tires from Tire Rack. I was very impressed with the service they provided me. Mike was knowledgeable and helpful with every aspect. He also recommended additional service my car needs that I already knew about without being pushy at all! I recommend you try them for your cars needs.

Dropped my miata in to install my tires i got from tire rack. Beastly install, vacummed and washed my windows.
4 new tires, and an alignment and everything is better than good now. THanks guys, ill be coming back.
Also tried to get the alignment as close to my request. Awesome!

On the 6th of Jan, 2015, I took my ford focus into Kniesel’s for an oil change and have the motor mounts checked out.
I was given a estimate of the cost to have the engine mount replaced on the focus.
Had great service and will attend to the motor mount replacements when I have the money saved.

Very pleasant from the phone call to make my appointment to their call to say that my car was ready.
I had an oil change and smog and they finished them both within the 1 hr (what they quoted). The C.H. location was perfect for me to head to the cal fit pool for a few while I waited.

Very very impressed! Got into an auto accident on 3⁄20 (NOOO not my fault lol), and by the following Tuesday night I had my car back good as new. This place was on the recommendation list from my insurance company and I’d never used them before. With Kniesel’s I barely even had to lift a finger. Chris Keeler and the rest of the staff totally took care of me. I never had to call for updates, they were always proactive — got my car back to me in record time. The receptionist was friendly and professional, and they did a solid job on my body work. Highly recommend to anyone!
Update:
As luck would have it, I was rear-​ended again a year later in September 2015. Once again I called Kniesel’s and have the same level up top-​notch service I had during my last visit. They called me regularly, they texted regularly to give me updates about the service on my car, and once again they made the whole process so smooth and easy. Still highly recommend!
