They had a great deal for cut, color and blow dry so I went. My student hairstylist, Doreen, was pleasant and I think she did a good job with the cut and color but there were a few things I had some issues with. First, I felt like she was complaining so much about how thick and just how much hair I have, saying her wrist was hurting from it, etc. I understand when hairstylists make comments about a client’s hair, but I just kind of felt she went a little overboard. If you’re gonna be a hairstylist, you will have to deal with different types of hair, and how much hair I have is something I have no control over. She also kind of fibbed a little when her instructor told her she needs to watch out how much she talks to the customer while doing a color job, and then she said that she had to tell me that she needed to go – basically, that I was talking her ear off and occupying much more of her time. I didn’t really appreciate that, because she was doing a lot of the talking, but I figured she didn’t want to get in trouble with her teacher so I let it slide. When it came to the blow dry, I think she was just tired already so she did minimal blow drying and then put hairspray on me to control my frizz. My hair was still damp when I left. I kind of expected a decent blow dry. I understand that the promo was a steal at $ 25, but I think no matter what price you offer your services, you should go all the way through it. It was Marinello’s choice to offer deeply discounted services, and I could’ve wrong but I believe part of their education also includes learning good customer service?
I was going to let it go but when I put her at ‘good’ and not ‘excellent’ on her survey, she kind of got upset and put me on the spot by questioning me why I gave her that rating in front of her instructor as I was paying. Well, she was a student and while I think that overall she did a good job, there were things that i felt needed some improvement. I didn’t feel that she did such an excellent job to warrant the highest grade. Before she started pouting and putting me on the spot, I actually wanted to bring me sisters in for her because she was nice and enough and think she did a good job, but now I don’t know how comfortable I’ll be asking for her.

I would like to give an update on my previous review. Since the day I left a message with the director Nicole, she has been on top of this issue. Not only did she call me within 30 minutes of leaving a message she went over and beyond to take care of this outstanding issue. I truly appreciated her quick response to my frustrations regarding the issue I was experiencing. I was not upset with her, I was upset that this issue was not getting resolved. This issue has since been resolved. Thank you, Nicole for being an amazing communicator and staying on top of this. I truly appreciate the communication more than you know! I appreciated that you took the time to make sure this situation was handled immediately, rather than pushing it off, for that I thank you!!!

I’m honestly disappointed at the fact that they don’t take «appointments» when I walked in on Wednesday at 10:00am. The instructors looked at me as if I was weird asking for a trim… And just told me «oh we don’t take appointments but you can go to the West Covina mall.» First of all, if I came to the puente hills mall to get a haircut why on earth will I go somewhere else to get a damn haircut?! I’ve been going to the puente hills mall for a trim all of a sudden they don’t take appointments? That’s ridiculous they need to start putting up a sign stating no appointments. So much for teaching students how to cut hair… Ridiculous service while you’re teaching students learn how customer service as well.

Very skeptical, and so should you.
I was nervous when I found out the program is only 9 months and she still has 6 more months to go… she totally messed up my hair. I need to re cut again at Toni and guy. Look at the pic. totally uneven as heck. How can I walk out of my house with hair like that. It looks like my kids cut it for me.
The instructor was never there to check, didn’t ask me what I want, helped student and gave her instructions, didn’t bother at all, not like what other people said here… absolutely zero guidance from instructor during the entire time at all. It was just me and the student. Took an hour which I was abit surprised. Thought it will be 2 hours. She didn’t take her time at all, total not even, I will need to recut it at toni and guy student salon or anywhere. .
I said I want a simple hair cut. Just coz she looked like she didn’t know much… I said I wanted layers, she didn’t seems to know what I wanted .Well not much layer at the end for sure. just plain cut with lots of uneven noticeable length error.. No mirror to show my back after finished (for its ugly as he’ll that why! !!!), or pictures to ask me what I wanted prior to hair cut, didnt bother to shampoo like it said on website, was chewing gum the entire time, and even checked her phone messages. I can reassure you, these won’t happen in toni and guy student salon. I went to that other place 3 times, only reason I switch to this place for I have no time, big mistake on my part.
I have to say toni and guy student salon is way way better… teacher always there checking and Checking, very professional,… instructors draw cutting instruction on mirror and asking what hair style I want, showing me pictures, making sure student knows what to do. Teachers genuinely care and provide good advise for the students. I can say service exceed other real salon, and better salon equipment and tools.. .feels like a real salon with real service. Instructor wants their students to be successful. and this places has none of what I just described. …Toni and guy charges 20. reasonable. This crappy place 6… doesn’t even worth 6 bucks ain’t going back. So scary. Not to mention it’s not cleaned… so filthy and run down. Should be paying me for guinea pig and made me spent more at another place instead! !!
I feel like the girl that cut my hair is not getting her money worth by studying there. No guidance. .non caring instructors… poor girl.. wasted her money for a crappy school like this, not clean, seriously, no help from instructor, that freaks me out, I almost wanted to not go there, it’s that bad. I really feel sorry for the student. Again no guidance, that why it’s ugly and uneven long short long short. .layer are all blunt cut. What is wrong with this dump.
I understand it’s a school. but since I had above snd beyond spa like experience with toni and guy. I have to say this place deserve zero star… it’s a joke.. How dare they even charge for hair cut.seriously.
They basically let the student cut whatever and let client like be guinea pigs, don’t go there, you’ll freaked out like me. Scary…

looks fine. .even… doesn’t look like my kids cut it.. But definitely won’t go back since the Instructor isn’t there or never care… The student was all alone cutting my hair. .and again she’s won’t be graduating till May.. and Program only 9 months.. Scary…
P. s. I wanted to cut shorter, but I opt for longer.. Coz. In case she messed up, I can go else where to fix it… sigh…

Great service!!! I was a little skeptical getting my hair cut by students. However, I received the best haircut I’ve ever had. Darlene was amazing!!! I love the prices and the staff and students are super nice. I love going there!!! One of the students also convinced me to try the gel nail polish! OMG!!! Nail polish lasted for a couple of days!!! I met the registrar very very nice and friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place. Note: the wait might take a little longer than expected but it is worth it!!!

I got my hair cut here and bleached too and it was a wonderful experience. The people were so sweet.

I’m obsessed with Burke William’s nourishing facial, and I didn’t think I could like anything else. I gave a beautiful esthetician named Jackie a try at the Marinello school of beauty, she came highly recommended by a friend. I took a good look at her skin and was impressed and decided yes, she has to work on my face. Her facial was an amazing experience, her aromatherapy, her massage, her hot towel treatments, her hand paraffin treatments, her attention to detail and her incredible knowledge blew me away, she went beyond my expectations, it was a full on spa experience.
I am hooked. The teachers are very friendly. I’ve been going weekly, I definitely noticed a difference in my skin, my pores are no longer visible, my skin is glowing, her facial massages seemed to have increased the collagen in my face, I look healthier, younger, more beautiful. You can tell Jackie is very passionate and loves what she does. Choose your esthetician wisely, this is your face:)
This is going to be a lifelong commitment with Jackie, wow! You must try.

Wish there were negative stars… somehow I want to grow out my hair translated to do a short cut with a size 2 clipper guard and comb… the girl had such poor skills it turned into an all over size 2 clipper cut…#quitbeatyschool …PLEASE! I’ve gone to schools to get my hair cut for many years in my life… first and last time here… only thing that may save you is forcing an instructor consult in the beginning which was mandatory at every previous school where I got my hair cut… hmmm! What a great idea… how can a 5 month student not be required to consult until the end? Horrible place… horrible experience! Oh in the 2 hours prior to cut while she did a fill, I went on and on about how I missed my hair and wished it to grow out faster… I shaved my head in early January prior to my last chemo treatment which was supposed to make my hair fall out and did not…12 weeks of hair growth down to 2 cm… I cried all night and wished that someone would cutoff 75% of my stylists hair so she may know how it feels… better yet shave her head! I beat cancer but getting my hair cut here is the second most traumatic experience in the last year… good luck if you have no money and end up here! And thank you again for not using a size 0 on my hair butchering!!!

The instructors are great. You can see from the minute you walk in that the students are happy and are always busy. Every day here is a good day!

First Time got a hair cut in layers.
Second time got a single color & highlights (yesterday) really love my hair.
Although there barley learning they did a better job than a regular salon.
The girl did a really good job and took her time making sure it came out good. Not like other salons they rush thru there work. I would really recommend this place the girls here are nice they have good customer service. There very polite. And I’m very surprise to see bad reviews. Anyways would I come here again? OF COURSE.

Decent place to get a quick haircut and great facial for a reasonable. The instructors are awesome and keep in mind that the person doing your hair and facial is a student so they do take a little a time. I will definitely return for a facial very inexpensive.

My $ 5 haircut took about 1.5 minutes. I wanted only a half-​inch trim. What I got instead was choppy layers of random length, which look like they were made by a two-​year old. The school should have paid me (and not the other way around) for the experiment they did on my hair. Worst of all, the person who chopped up my hair was the instructor. If you care about how you look, I advise you to steer clear of this place.

Got my daughters hair done here and they did an awesome job! Came just for fun but we will definitely be back! I’ve gotten my hair cut and highlighted here it’s amazing! :)

Ok, first I must say I’m not crazy picky about my hair. Yes, I like a good cut and style. but I’m not going to be too critical about STUDENTS doing my hair. I’m paying $ 5 for goodness sake. I love this place, love the staff and appreciate these students. If you need to speak up about something you don’t like then just do so. I had to let a young stylist know that my daughters hair didn’t look exactly as we had hoped… she asked an instructor for help aNd after a few swipes of the scissors my daughters hair looked like a $ 100 professional cut… for $ 5 !!!
My color comes out great every time. I do sometimes have an issue with blow drys. My hair is naturally curly and I maintain a straight hairstyle. So sometimes the students, unless they are familiar, don’t know how to blow dry to get that straight look without a flat iron add-​on. Again, they Are students.
My only real complaint is the new length up charge they have now. My daughter has long hair and usually gets a very simple trim BUT ends up paying 3xs as much due to length than mine… but my hair cut takes a lot longer due to the style of cut I have… so she know goes to a salon where we pay just as much but am assured I get a professional cut every time. Other than that I am a loyal customer and will be as long as they don’t get carried away with the prices… oh, and they have an excellent esthetician department that offers spa treatments, facial, waxing, etc at great prices… just remember they are students !!! So give it a try.

Decent cheap place to get a quick haircut.
Been coming here a few times now for haircuts, mostly for a quick trim in between major haircuts to my regular salon. For $ 5, I really don’t expect too much. The teacher normally comes over before the student starts the haircut, which is great, and she normally tells the student exactly what to do based on what you want. I’ve been satisfied with the haircuts I’ve received here. The only thing to note is, they do get hair all over your neck and back and clothes, so do not wear any nice clothing, and take a shower right after so you don’t get poked constantly by pieces of hair.
They do take credit cards, so that’s a huge plus.

I walk in here not expecting $ 100 professional level work, but I was expecting maybe a senior stylist helping out the students from time to time… I did see that but it wasn’t on me!!!
I was assisted by Ashley, she was super friendly, so this is nothing against her but her work alone…
I understand she is only 18 years old, and it had only been her 3^rd month there, but she does not know how to do a simple blow out on my hair!!! she «tag-​teamed» with another student, young as well, she seemed as if she knew a bit more about her work than Ashley did.
I have this part at the back portion of my head near the crown that is super annoying but when my usual stylist styles my hair she does an AMAZING job getting rid of it and the style stays till the next time I wet my hair!
When I left there I looked as if I just blow dried my own hair… –_​–
I wanted VOLUME… I was left with tons of root pump! so much that it weighed my hair down!
The girl did try but, when she told me about my part, I told her it was always like that. when the other girl attempted to fix it, ashley stopped her and said. «No, no, don’t do nothin’ cause she says its always like that»
WTH… I said it was always like that, but I NEVER SAID NOT TO FIX IT.
It was nearly 5pm and they were already packing up to go home, i got there at 315, and a it took almost 40 minutes to dry my hair… and 30 for my scalp hair treatment… which was somewhat 50% effective. For those who don’t know – that treatment helps those with reactions to bleach or color, like me! my scalp peels from all those chemicals! and its so disgusting after a few weeks after coloring which is THE worst!
Their shampoo is ALMOND scented which made me want to yak, and it was orange colored.
Smelled like a Senior assisted living home, or those orange hand soaps you see in public restrooms. YUCK!
my hair did NOT feel clean after the 2 washes she did…
the conditioner was ineffective! My hair was still tangled and didn’t feel soft.
When the 2 girls were blow drying my hair, it gave me the worst headache after! It was torture to my scalp, the other girl is pulling the crap outta my hair, she was pulling out my knots instead of holding my hair at the root then attempt to detangle it.
Ashley was better but slower which I do understand, but still… I LOOKED AS IF I JUST BLOW DRYED MY OWN HAIR AT HOME.
They use some nasty Generic large tub shampoo + cond. products but they use BigSexyHair styling products as well as Sebastian Professional.
I had a 50% coupon off entire service and products, so I got the ZERO Gravity hairspray by Sebastian and my services for $ 20 + $ 5 tip for trying…
I realized the Senior stylist at the front charged me for «Styling» which was $ 5, but I DID NOT SEE ANY styling at all!!!
a blow out was not a blow out but a mere blow dry.
I saw other girls getting their hair straightened, and curled which to me is a STYLE.
She charged me $ 5 for NOTHING! WHAT A RIP OFF!

I said no, nvm I just want a blow out. BUT SHE DECIDED TO keep that $ 5 on there anyway and not remove it since I did NOT want curls or straightened hair.]
I’ll probably re-​visit but I’ll request for a Senior stylist (there were 2 ladies) next time! she looked as if she knew her stuff!

DONT GO HERE! they messed up my hair so bad and I came like a month before to see how much it would be and the lady told me 15 $ so I thought that was such a cheap price and I wanted a waterfall braid so I came to get my hair done and they didn’t even use a curling iron !! They used something else that is healthier for my hair or whatever and my curls didn’t even stay. I had to go back home and re-​curl it! And also, the waterfall braid they did on my was so messy, so much hair was coming out already. So when I went to go pay this lady told me it was 40 dollars !! I told her some other lady said it was 15 and she said because my hair was too long… The lady before saw my hair too and said it was 15 so I got pissed. ALSO THEY HAVE THE WORST ATTITUDE

Polite, friendly, and knowledge staff and students. My mom, sister and I all get our hair cut and colored at this campus on a regular basis and have never been disappointed with our services. Just recently we started getting facials there and they are amazing! Quality services and great prices! highly recommended for services!

Worst place ever. BAD service or NO service at all. Everyone looked unhappy to be there, esp this one lady, who might be the instructor because she was ordering the other girls around. She had this angry look on her face the entire time. Bad communication within the facility, very unorganized. Was there 2 times and both times service was awful, I didn’t even have service done yet. First called to make 2 appts, hair coloring and mani/​pedi. Went in for my hair dye allergy test two days before. Decided to change my sisters mani to massage and the girl said that we weren’t even in the books. Day of appt, they again said we weren’t in the books. Then was told that they don’t even offer massages. Hello!!! There is a picture of a customer getting a massage in their photo. Was even listed on their website. Besides, I wasn’t told that two nights before when I changed the appt. Ok whatever. So my sister goes for the facial, since she has to wait for me anyways. We had booked their first appt of the day and still waited 30 minutes. At least 10 girls there were just chatting to each other. My sister waited 30 minutes as well and didn’t even get close to having her facial started. They seemed like they weren’t even aware she was there for a facial. One of the girls told me I should have booked the 8:30 if I wanted to leave early. They don’t even open until 10. Hours were posted on the door. We arrived at 9:58 and the girl had just unlocked the door for us, not because they were opening but because we knocked on the glass door. How can they be open at 8:30? We both left without having any service done. Price may be inexpensive but totally not worth the time and getting crappy service.

Thankfully closed sad for the students and the teachers though

i will never have my haircut here!!! so mad they ruined my hair!!! even the supervisor/​head instructor is ignorant!!! spare yourself the agony!!!
