Specializing in comprehensive eye exams for all ages, we accept all major insurance carriers and offer new technology, including Optomap Daytona, a retinal scanner without having to dilate your eyes.

We provide quick, honest care for contact lenses, Lasik consultation, and eye disease management, including low vision training to restore lifestyle functions for patients with severely reduced vision due to eye disease.

History

Established in 2009.

In the Fall of 2009, Dr Carrie Breeden and Dr Bret Provost launched River City Eyecare just outside of Portland metro. A unique experience driven concept for Optometry, RCE weaves together fundamental clinical concepts with modern pampering. Dedicated to having a knowledgeable staff trained in personalized service, within twelve months they were ready to expand and bring their patient centered concept to the Hollywood district of Northeast Portland.

In our fast paced world, both locations of River City Eyecare remain a special haven for well crafted independent eye wear, encouraging each shopper to take a few minutes for themselves to appreciate the details.

Do you ever have mind blowing customer service? Someone who goes above and beyond specifically just for YOU? Knock your socks, make you wanna slap yo mama it’s so good customer service??? Jake went absolutely above and beyond for me. He dealt with my insurance company for nearly A MONTH so that I wasn’t blind as a bat. I asked the woman who gave me my frames who I could tell and she directed me here; so here I am. Thank you, Jake. I’m not actually going to slap my mama, and my socks are still on my feet… but I truly don’t believe anyone has given me service like you did. THANK YOU!!!

Saw Dr Provost for my contacts exam. I like him even more. He answered my questions thoroughly and purposed a lot of interesting ideas and thoughts. He has a good sense of humor. He’s the kind of doctor who has a manner and expertise you trust. It’s a good bunch of people who work here. Never going to rando optometrists again.

We LOVE River City! My 13 year old has been in glasses since he was 6, and our 7 year old has had his for a year now. We’ve seen several doctors at various offices around PDX, and I think we’ve finally found a keeper. Dr. Breeden is fantastic, and we’ve had fantastic luck with the staff being friendly, professional, and patient — hey, learning how to put contacts in is hard! Michelle knows exactly who I am when I call, and always asks about the kids’ activities — that level of customer service is hard to come by! VERY highly recommended.

I can’t say enough great things about my experience at River City Eyecare! I’ve been a couple different times (to both their Clackamas and Hollywood District (Portland) locations). Their Clackamas location is newly renovated, modern and has all new equipment. The Hollywood location is a super chic boutique-​style spot. Both clinics have a stellar selection of frames. Dr. Provost was my doctor both times I’ve been seen at the clinic; he was nothing but caring and professional. He had a great sense of humor to boot! Overall the staff was super friendly and helpful. The opticians have a great sense of style and are wonderful about helping you find the best frames for the look you want. I walked away with two frames — couldn’t resist! Overall, I’ll definitely be back!

I was very impressed with the through exam Dr. Provost performed on my 6 year old son. He spent time explaining all the findings and put my mind at ease that my son’s vision was 20⁄20.
