Dr. Scherlie is extremely knowledgeable, warm and caring. My diabetic Bichon had cataract surgery, subsequent dry eye, retinal deterioration, blindness and now a severe eye infection and ulcer. Through it all Dr. Scherlie has been about the best dr. I could ever imagine having. His asst, Jeannie, is absolutely wonderful as well. I would highly recommed him to anyone with a dog with eye problems. Do not go to your regular vet for eye problems. OSU and other vet schools do not teach ophthamology; see a board certified ophthamologist for any eye problems. I’ve had 2 misdiagnoses by regular vets, the most recent being the vet did not know what the ulcer was. Had I not gone into see an ophthomologist, my dog would have lost his eye.

Dr. Scherlie has been a thurough and kind doctor to my cat. My cat has a rare issue with her bottom eyelids flipping, causing her eyelashes to scrape her eyeball. This is due to the structure of her face and though she is not a Persian it is common in the breed. Her first surgery was performed by a resident who is no longer at NW vet specialists. When I picked her up she looked as though she was in a bar brawl. A month later her eyelids flipped again so I had to take her back in. Dr Scherlie performed the same surgery and it was clean, harldy any swelling and she bounced back quicker than the first surgery. There have been no more flipping of her bottom eyelids nearly a year later. We continue to see Dr. Scherlie every month for follow ups for the sequestrum on my cat’s eye, that is a common side effect of her condition. These follow ups are free, Dr. Scherlie is gentle and kind with my cat and considering her year she really likes him. I appreciate how straight forward Dr. Scherlie is and how understanding he is of my time. He’s aware of how frustrating this condition is since there is no real cure but to perform surgery if it flips again. I’ve had nearly a year long relationship with Dr. Scherlie thus far and he has made it easier for both me and my cat.
