History

Established in 2007.

Our tiny town lost its Bank and then its Grocery store. This meant the heart of the town was lost and folk became more depressed than usual. The streets were untidy and the buildings uncared for, old vehicles and trash lined the streets. One of our moms wanted to create a summer activity for her son and decided to get some fresh fruit to sell on a road side stand. Neither she nor her son enjoyed this enterprise. So two folk with long term vision shared the initail cost of the order and ran the stand, at the end of the coldest summerand being out doors a move was made to go indoors. And so it grew. By reinvesting everything the stand made into more product, it has now become a fully licensed Co-op with 180 members and the only Food Co-op in Clallam County. We feel successful and pleased with our endeavours. Our community is now gaining order, clean up has taken a step forward, houses are being painted and vehicles removed. We invite you to be part of our revitalisation.

We took up the challenge of creating co-operation in a quiet corner of the continental US. Taking an eclectic approach and challenging the fact that we have never run a business, not been involved in county or corporate endeavours nor operated through and for a Board. It has been a wonderful adventure. The result is an astonishing co-operative enterprise involving a huge number of folk at all levels of the community, the county and the state.

Several people have stood forward and made things happen, one of our members invested in a property to house the Co-op and several other businesses making a shopping mall. Individuals have stepped up sharing specific skills that were needed. Gardeners have worked to form a co-op garden and now a school garden. Donations have poured in from community members to form up a commercial kitchen and a faboulous store. We have more congeniality now in our communites.
