Brian D. Smith, DDS

Dr. Smith has been my dentist since he began practicing dentistry and came on board as an associate with another dentist I was seeing. When Dr. Smith moved into his own office, my husband and I chose to follow.
I have seen his skills, which were impressive from the beginning, become awesome, and I’m not particularly easy to impress, having been a registered dental assistant when I was younger. He has also become very gentle when administering anesthetic injections. They used to hurt, but now his injections cause less pain than any dentist I’ve ever been to.
And I can’t say enough about the staff at this office. Without exception, I have found them to be friendly, concerned and unfailingly helpful and professional – from the receptionist to the hygienist.

Awesome awesome dentist! Dr. Smith is very knowledgeable and cares about his patients. His staff is very friendly and you can feel the energy when you walk in. When you walk in they are so inviting and call you by your name. Very clean, well maintained and updated facility.

I have never written a review on Unilocal before but had to share how much I love Dr Smith and his team. He is the best dentist in the entire world
My 18 year old daughter has had mysterious tooth issues that have stumped numerous dentists. Dr Smith and his entire staff have gone above and beyond to try and get her the best care and to solve her issues. They never get upset when she just shows up at the office without an appointment because she had an emergency. Dr Smith has personally called other specialists and had personal conversations about my daughter’s condition so they are set up to treat her. He has called me at home just to check on her… I could go on and on. They treat us like family and I have never had any type of medical/​dental care like this in my lifetime
Again as other posters have said, he takes my insurance but not as much as others. I don’t care– 100% worth it and I will never go anywhere else

After being traumatized my entire life by dentists I never wanted to visit one unless it was absolutely necessary. I am the kind of dental patient that needs to be put to sleep to ease my fear and get through the visit. I had just moved to Ca.18 months ago and was referred to Dr. Smith by someone I met here in Upland. I was way over due for a visit and so scared to be seen by a dentist. Once I got to his office I felt so comfortable, his staff is so friendly, inviting as well as gentle. The energy in the office is amazing and the high tech equipment is mind blowing. I have had several visits in the past year and a half in his office and everyone of them has been great! Dr. Smith knows his stuff as well as knows how to make someone comfortable in a dental chair (which is a HUGE compliment coming from me!). I would highly highly recommend him if you need a dentist… you will love him as much as I do! If he moves or thinks of retiring… I will hunt him down!

I have been going to Smith and Bellows for the last few years now and I have to say they have been the most professional and up to date office I have ever had my dentistry done. Not only do they have a fantastic staff who are attentive and great at what they do, but they use all the latest technology as well! I can see my pictures and X-​Rays immediately on a computer screen! Thats awesome! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE! Also I had taken my son to two different dentists to have a 2 teeth removed for his orthodonist. These two other Dentists could not remove the teeth and told me the roots were too long. To have Oral Surgery. Dr. Smith had them both out within 20 minutes and my son said he didnt feel any pain. Thanks Dr. Smith!

I was referred to Dr Smith by a friend after a terrible experience with my old dentist. Dr Smith and his staff were great with my daughter. She did not feel any pain when she had to get two large fillings.
He also uses the newest equipment, which is important to me. Also he gave me a referral to get some orthodontic work done.
He is out of my insurance plan, which means I am willing to pay a bit more for his services, but Id rather pay for more for an awesome dentist than one like I had before that would yell at me, and start work before the novicane kicked in. Dr. Smith and his staff are awesome. If your looking for a sharp dentist give him a try.
Also, another major thing I thought was great, was his staff was very knowlegeble of our insurance plans and coverage.

Do not use this dentist.
Twice work he performed very quickly failed and had to be redone.
Once he billed again for the correction work on his failed work.
Twice he billed in excess of written estimates.
Numerous billings errors took months to correct.
Some billing errors were never corrected.
He sued me in small claims court instead of making billing corrections.
He raises his rates without notification.
He misrepresented that he was a preferred provider under our insurance.
He’s not very good at administering pain medications.
