I’ve been here a few times whenever I am in town for work. Definitely a local chain to check out. Great cheeseburgers and milkshakes! Great prices too. You can’t go wrong. Also love the loganberry soda they have!

BEST ice cream I’ve ever had (Abbotts). Seriously, the vanilla almond shake is a must — never tried anything else — didn’t want to. The other Bill Gray’s in the mall doesn’t make it the same and it’s disappointing. Nothing special about the burgers.

Amazing food! Burgers are a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ as well as the french fries! And to top it all off Abbots ice cream! This is truly a 5 star place! Love coming here friendly open atmosphere, never loud and very comfortable! Truly the home of the «Worlds Greatest Cheeseburger!

Bill Gray’s is my guilty pleasure for sure! Their burgers are to die for and I love that you can basically build your own with all custom toppings. I’m obsessed with their buns and bbq sauce, it’s so delicious. The fries are very good as well! I can’t speak on the milkshakes and ice cream though because I can’t stand the ice cream company that they use, but I won’t knock them for that since it’s more of a personal opinion. But definitely use a lot of napkins cause it’s a pretty messy meal, totally worth it though!

My least favorite food in the world is celery. I hate everything about it. The taste, texture, even the smell!
After I ate here yesterday, I’d rather eat 1000 pieces of the smelliest, stringiest, celeriest celery instead of eating here ever again!!!
The food we had yesterday should not have been served to customers. How can you fuck up a hot dog?! Seriously! The taste of this hot dog was so bad. It tasted like window cleaner and old grease. It didn’t even taste like a hot dog! How?!
We ordered curly fries and onion rings to split. They both tasted like old grease at the onion rings especially were literally dripping in oil. The curly fries were okay but they’re battered. I don’t like that kind of fry but that’s just a preference thing. They were the most edible food on the tray. We also got a side of gravy for the fries… Ummm… I don’t know how long that gravy sat scorching in a pot but I’m willing to bet it was for days, if not longer. They literally must have scraped the bottom of the pan to slop this garbage in a dinky little cup. You couldn’t even dip anything in it because it was solid. Like, no longer a liquid. WTF!!! And, no surprise, it tasted like beef flavored window cleaner!!!
I’m not typically one to find NOTHING redeeming about a meal. Nor am I one to rather eat tons of celery in place of any other food, but MY GOD… This was so freaking bad!!! We really should have brought it back to the counter to get our money back. I just don’t see how any employee (and where is the manager!!!) could have thought any of that garbage was okay to serve to customers.
And we’re supposed to support paying fast food servers $ 15/​hour?! FUCK THAT!
This food was so bad, I’m f-​bombing. So FUCKING bad!
Do not eat here!!! You’re better off throwing $ 20 into a garbage can and still being hungry.

This is your typical burger joint. If you are looking for something along the line of Grover’s or Vizzi’s then this isn’t the place for you. Think more Rochester style burgers, delicious but not as thick.
I will love their custard. I’m a Rochester native so, that definitely holds a special place in my heart.
The only thing I don’t like is the apparent Buffalo style Garbage Plate, which is equal only in its contents. The mac salad isn’t like home and the hot meat sauce is NOTHING like Rochester meat sauce. Not enough flavor or heat (or grease lol). But it is passable if you are like me and just missing home and need some good greasy comfort food.

The mystery is why this place is never busy. It has a large seating area, but it always looks so lonesome. If you are considering eating here but worry about the relative emptiness of the place, don’t let it discourage you. This place has a nice selection of food, including (1) bacon cheeseburgers with a lot of real bacon, (2) Zweigle’s red hots (hot dogs) from Rochester, (3) a decent fish fry, and many other choices. The fries are crinkle cut with plenty of potato on the inside.
The meals are filling and not cheap. You can spend about $ 20 or so for two, but you won’t be hungry. That is a problem in some ways because Bill Gray’s also offers excellent Abbott’s ice cream, again a specialty from Rochester.

This review is specifically on Abbot’s Ice Cream, which is sold in conjunction with Bill Gray’s restaurant. I, assisted with the help of fellow Unilocal*ice cream maven Joe H. of Lewiston, have been narrowing down the absolute best frozen custard’s in WNY. Definitely Hibbard’s in Lewiston is 1^st. Then the Hibbard’s related stand on Military Rd. Niagara Falls, and now Abbot’s. Joe told me to try Abbot’s and gotta say it’s right up there with Hibbard’s. Very smooth, creamy, Gelato-​like consistency it is so good and unlike any of the soft serve people are used to these days. In fact unless you live in NF, Lewiston, or Rochester [home of Abbot’s/Bill Gray’s] and are under the age of 60, you have no idea what custard, real custard actually tastes like. Don’t look for it to come out of the swirl machine. The custard is bulk made and in containers, but is just as soft and unctuous. They have a cajillion flavors but my suggestion is try the chocolate almond. Creamy, nirvana ice cream packed with toasted almonds. Now I don’t have to drive all the way to Lewiston or NF for a heavenly cone. It’s around the corner in Clarence… a hop and skip from Cheektowaga for me. Plan to try the Bill Gray food next time as well. Smells wonderful in there and is a very nice restaurant as well!

I love their steak&cheese sandwich! Best american food i ever had! The cashiers are super nice!!! This place is perfect for sport fans and children! Theres a claw machine, game room and tv! I love it

If this review were only for the chocolate almond ice cream it would be like 10 stars!!! The grill food however good was griddle made not grill– not my first choice for a hot dog. Would go again and try the burger — the hot sauce is awesome!

I heard that upstate NY was well known for their garbage plates and this place did not disappoint. My garbage plate had Mac & cheese, hamburgers, meat sauce, hot sauce, relish, mustard and fries. It was happy hour so I got a giant peanut butter milkshake to go with it.
THe garbage plate was hot (taste and temperature). The food was not that flavorful but it was a nice experience and the service was friendly. Got plenty of food for an inexpensive price. I would go here once a month if I was still in Buffalo.

Not a bad burger… just not in line with burgers you can get in Buffalo for the same price at a place like Vizzi’s or Grover’s. Menu is great with an excellent variety of burgers, red and white hots. They also have a «garbage plate» (Rochester favorite) like meal but it’s close to Tahou’s in only what it comes with… not taste (hot sauce is different and Mac salad has a lot of mayo).
It’s better than any fast food, or national chain… but not as good as the traditional Buffalo burger places.
I would say to check it out for yourself.

You can charge it to the aliens on that ship. Their skin tone is not green, it’s more of a dull metallic color… (Bill Grays).
What to get: World’s Best Cheeseburger w/​Chili and Frozen Vanilla Custards from Abbott’s.
Bill Gray’s is actually one of Rochester’s better known eateries. To the extent they actually have a location at legendary Rochester Raging Rhinos field. Wow. If you are familiar with Buffalonian spots, then you can consider Bill Grays to be the «Ted’s» or «Jim’s Steak Out» of Rochester, but with a few differences. Their food is excellent… their piece-​de-​resistance is their insanely good «Best Burger In The World», which should be ordered with Chilli — always. It comes absolutely drenched in the Chilli, which is delicious, and it’s delectable and divine and has to be eaten with a knife and fork. It’s one of Buffalo’s best burgers (which isn’t saying much because we don’t have many good burgers here), so it’s probably one of Rochester’s best burgers too.
Their Buffalo Chicken sandwich is good, their hot dogs are good, and their Garbage Plate (Rochester’s specialty) is enormous, huge and not my fave garbage plate by a long stretch. Not such a fan of the sweet potato fries that they put in there, but as far as Garbage Plates go, it’s passable.
Then there is the ice cream. At most locations, they sell Abbott’s Frozen Custard and I am not exaggerating when I say that it’s the most delicious, creamy, sinful frozen custard I have ever tasted. Although… the Abbott’s at this location is amazing, but the Abbott’s at the Boulevard Mall location tasted generic and awful… go figure. The baby size is huge and only costs $ 2, and I’m not even a huge ice cream eater but I will regularly stop in for one of these, because it is simply the best I have ever had. And for all of these reasons, Bill Gray’s scores a high five.
The seating here is fantastic for families, the place is huge and is a lot of fun for kids. It’s one of the best places to take kids in WNY, and yet a lot of families just don’t know about it. Give it a try — you’ll be glad you did. Their vanilla frozen custard is way better than any of the other options in town and they have all the fancy treats too. They also have lots of fantastic money saving coupons, too. And you don’t have to pay, remember, because you can charge it to the aliens.

I don’t know who Bill Gray is or was, but I do know that he serves up one delicious red hot wiener — and by wiener I’m referring to his ¼ pound Zweigle’s red skinless hot dogs. I have enjoyed many a wiener across the United States, and I can personally attest to the fact that Bill Gray’s wieners are by far the juiciest and most flavorful in these here parts. Now get your mind out of the gutter and go enjoy one for yourself — and don’t forget to save room for some Abbott’s custard to complete the gluttonous binge.
Food: Bill Gray’s is a casual fried food paradise started in Rochester, New York in 1938 — the family-​owned chain serves Rochester sourced products like Zweigle’s hot dogs, as well as other items like their «World’s Greatest Cheeseburger», chicken wings, and haddock fish fry. Most of the food offerings can be ordered as a value meal, which includes a fountain drink and fries. This location also serves Abbott’s custard, which is among the best custard I’ve had. Over the past 30 years, I’ve been to several Bill Gray’s locations across Western New York countless times and I’ve never had a bad experience — the food is certainly chock full of calories, but well worth it.
Service: The service structure is comparable to most fast food joints, but with a slight twist — all orders are placed at the front counter and they give you a buzzer that will vibrate once the food is ready — patrons are responsible for picking up their orders at the front counter and disposing of their own trash. Fountain drinks are also self-​serve. There really isn’t much direct contact with staff, but when there is, it’s always pleasant. and efficient. I’ve never waited longer than 10 minutes for my food to be ready, even during peak dining hours.
Atmosphere: Clean and casual with little frills. The restaurant essentially consists of a single large room with the ordering counter at the back — there’s also a private party room and game room with a few arcade games off the main room. Both table and booth seating are available. The clientele is mixed and the overall vibe is very family friendly.
Cost: Inexpensive. Burgers and hot dogs are approximately $ 4 and $ 5, respectively. Fries and a drink can be added to most meats for an additional $ 3.90. Side orders are approximately $ 3 for a single and $ 6 for a basket. Frozen custard is $ 2.45 for a kiddie cone/​dish, $ 3.15 for a regular, and $ 4.17 for a large.
Other: Bill Gray’s offers various specials throughout the week, including ½ priced boneless wings on Sunday and Monday, as well as a daily «happy hour» (2:30PM-4:30PM) with ½ priced milkshakes, root beer floats, and reduced priced entrée plates. The restaurant also features «family fun nights» and other special events throughout the week. Free and ample parking is available in the lot directly outside the restaurant, which is shared with Bison Billiards and other businesses in the same plaza.

They have the best cheeseburgers in the world you got to go there and At least get two of them get the fries some hot sauce some root beer all you need. really get down there guys

This was a nice place. I went late (around 9:30PM) a couple of nights ago and the people at the front desk had no problem taking our order even though they close at 10. We saw that the menu had a wide variety of American food items including hotdogs, hamburgers and even ice cream. My girlfriend and I both had mushroom and swiss burgers and they were pretty good but definitely not the best. Also, somehow the guy at the front didn’t understand all of the toppings that we wanted. I probably wouldn’t go back here just because I know of better places but it is worth a shot especially if you need a place to eat at 9:30. You might love it.
