Signed up for «plan» after first massage, which was good. Here’s what happened the second time: 1. Therapist was 10 minutes late. 2. Room was a «double» — not comfortable. 3. Lights were not turned down. 4. Therapist was sniffling, coughing, sneezing the entire time. 5. Therapist was distracted (doing something else with one hand, like wiping her nose, drinking water, on which she choked, etc.) 5. Massage was not up to par — she spent 35 minutes on one shoulder, which didn’t hurt until the day after she «worked» it. 6. She had to rush through the rest of the moves. 7. She didn’t wait for me outside the room and did not offer water or her card.
This is not really a spa and that’s okay — for the $$, I don’t expect this total Zen atmosphere in the lobby and beyond. I do, however, expect the therapist to be qualified and 100% professional at all times.
Both the receptionist and management were apologetic and responsive to my experience. Tip: Ask for a popular, experienced therapist with a good track record.

Bernadeta gave me a great massage! I had been bouncing around from place to place and I’m glad I finally found someone who hit every muscle and worked on my areas of concern. I will be going back.
The one hour massage is $ 100 without membership opposed to where I was going for $ 60 and I live in Staten Island too but I’m willing to pay the toll and pay the extra money because I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time

I had Annette at the Clark location in New Jersey. She took note of the upper back pain and stiffness I was experiencing and included on my chart. She really focused on working those areas and found my knots right away! She worked them out in a gentle way as those areas were extremely tender. After my massage I not only felt much more relaxed, but my pain had been reduced tremendously, and now less than a week later, it is completely gone. I have had other massages at places like Massage Envy from various other masseuses, and I have not yet found one that I would go back to time and time again. My massage at Hand & Stone was a gift from someone, and after my session with Annette, I signed up for my own membership, and I will definitely be going back to her again!

I love this place always an awesome experience. I received all my prenatal massages here. I got a membership with them which was u pay a every month for a massage whether u use it or not. Well that was great when I was going all the time but when I wanted to stop the auto debits it was a big problem wanted me to pay some fee to even freeze it. That’s the only think I don’t like the because they changed the terms after I signed up. I overall was very relaxed every time I left there

Wait to check in was long and a little chaotic but it may be from the holiday. The massage was relaxing but nothing amazing. For the price, the massages are worth it and I appreciate the ability to schedule short notice. I did buy a membership and plan to utilize it often!

Great Experience! I needed a massage badly and I had never been to Hand and Stone so I made an appointment and was given the intro rate for an hour massage. I noticed the website had mentioned the monthly membership, however I had no intention of joining today. I just simply wanted a nice massage to treat myself for my birthday.
The lobby is clean and the receptionist was very welcoming. I did’t have to wait long at all.
I was lucky enough to have Liz as my massage therapist and she was awesome. I can tell she knows what she’s doing and she spent time where time was needed. I workout and lift heavy regularly as well as travel for a living so my shoulders, back and neck were tight. I left feeling great and super relaxed. Liz was super warm and friendly and provided a very comfortable atmosphere.
After my experience I joined the monthly membership. I can’t speak for the other therapists there (although I am excited to get a facial), but I would highly recommend Liz.

Writing review for my wife. Hand and Stone should not actually be called a spa. What it is, is a nice place to get a massage. This is not a high-​end luxury spa experience. The massage was nice for the price tag but you are not pampered like at the spas. For the money, it’s totally fine and worth the trip to Hand and Stone.

I’ve been going to the Clark location for a couple of years and I have never had a bad experience. I go for two main (tenance) reasons: massages and facials. so I’m probably opening up myself to limited appointments in the future but there are 2 specialists that I book with because experience is everything in this specialty. I will only book my massages with Niles because he is very professional. He listens and is attentive to your massage needs. I had muscle pain running down my left arm and he clearly knew what to do without overworking it. He is very knowledgeable. From the minute I describe my pain points, he asks me questions to determine the type of massage. And he always asks if the pressure is ok. For my facials, I will not go to anyone else but Lisa because I find her very knowledgable and pleasant. I waited a long time to get a microdermabrasion and it was worth the experience with Lisa as I am now a regular of the process.

I have been coming to Hand and Stone for massages and decided to use my package on a facial. I have to say it was an absolutely amazing facial. Christina has wonderful hands, she is very courteous to her clients, and guides you every step of the way. She ends her facial with an extremely relaxing shoulder and back massage !! I walk out of there feeling brand new. My skin has never felt more softer and has a fresh glow

Husband booked a last minute massage for me with no problem. Walking through to my room, I didn’t think it was going to be very good as it reminded me more of a tanning salon than a spa. Lorraine proved me wrong. Only second massage ever where I have fallen asleep! I will definitely be going back. Very relaxing.

I’m giving Hand and Stone 3 stars but keep in mind that I had 2 extremely different experiences here. I went for a massage there about a year ago for the first time. The massage was excellent. It wasn’t the best I ever had but I left relaxed and happy with my experience. The masseuse was personable and seemed experienced. If I was writing my review solely on that experience, I would rate it 4 stars.
Most recently, I went for another massage and had the opposite experience. The girl I had seemed very inexperienced and although I am generally pretty easy to please, it was the worst massage I have ever had. I cannot quite put my finger on what was so bad about it but it was just not relaxing, pretty weak, and she seemed rushed. If I could have cut it short, I would have. I had a massage after I gave birth in the hospital and that (free) massage was 10x better than this one.
Both times, I went through an online deal (Groupon or Living Social, I think). If another deal pops up, my first experience was good enough that I would return again. However, I will probably explain over the phone my last experience and request a more experienced masseuse.

As a chain spa, I expected my experience to be somewhat run-​of-​the-​mill. The physical structure and environment of the spa was welcoming, and my aesthetician was kind. She provided helpful tips for taking care of my skin and was not overly pushy of their products or buying the monthly plan. Other chains like Massage Envy or European Wax Center do that throughout the treatment and it ruins my experience every time. My only complaint about my aesthetician was that she left the room twice (the second time for several minutes) and she made a lot of noise during the facial in terms of washing her hands in a loud sink, searching for products, and so forth.
I was disappointed in the actual facial/​hand therapy experience. My aesthetician did not spend much time on extractions. I would have liked for her to have massaged my face, neck, and shoulders more; the most contact she had rubbing my face, neck, and shoulders was to simply apply lotions. It essentially felt more like a visit to the dermatologist than a facial.
The hand therapy was absolutely not worth $ 15. My aesthetician rubbed an exfoliating cream followed by lotion and placed my hands in plastic bags and then placed them in mitten-​like heating pads. Again, very minimal massaging. I was unsure whether I should go for the extra treatment and I am disappointed that I did so.
Overall, I am glad I only paid $ 50 for the facial at the introductory value. I cannot imagine going back and paying almost $ 90 for another facial; at that rate I will opt for the true day spa nearby that provides robes, a relaxation room, tea, etc. at only about $ 20 more.

I visited Hand and Stone a few times, twice for massage and once for facial.
The first time I went to H&S was 6+ months ago for my first ever massage. Unfortunately the massage therapist who handled me was too rough. Pain set in after a day or so. However after a few days passed rather than feeling better, I felt worse, specially my neck, legs and calves. It didn’t make sense.
Surprisingly so this didn’t deter me from visiting again a few months later for another massage with a different therapist. I forget her name but was recently informed by the staff she no longer works there. This experience was quite the opposite of the first. The therapist wasn’t overly rough and worked out most of the kinks and lactic acid build up in my muscles. She was sweet, gentle, explained everything thoroughly to me and best of all, I felt better afterwards.
From my experience, massages are a hit or miss depending who you get.
I’ve had one facial here recently with Laura. Hands down she has been the most informative esthetician I’ve met. She asked me what products I used, discussed my skin concerns, and explained the process of the facial. It was a very relaxing experience, minus extractions but that’s always a little painful. Two days later, pimples started sprouting up around the extracted sites on my nose and chin. This has never happened to me whenever I received a facial (anywhere) and made me quite upset. Pimples never appear on my nose so I’m pretty certain it’s from the facial. It’s been 5 days since then and they’re still there which is stressing me out. I was hoping to have nice glowing, problem-​free skin. I never expected a facial to give me more problems.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about this spa.

I waited a long time before I decided to write a review, but the more I thought about my experience at Hand and Stone, the more upset I get.
I booked a Groupon appointment, hoping this would be a good way to get to know a local spa nearby.
The reception was lovely and the counter was polite and accommodating. The décor was lovely and everyone spoke in low voices.
I got a one hour massage from a woman named X. I don’t get lots of massages, but I have to say I have never gotten an angrier massage in my life! It’s hard to explain, but the energy coming out of her was full of rage.
I literally had to stop and ask her three times to lighten the pressure. I tried to engage in friendly talk, hoping that the distraction would make the massage would be relaxing, but no such luck. Instead, she talked non-​stop in language that would make truck drivers blush. And the topic? How much she hated Obamacare and how I should read The Fountainhead!
I should have stopped the massage and left, but sometimes you try to make the best of a terrible thing, and I didn’t want to be rude. Lesson learned. Now I’m scared of getting any more massages…
It’s too bad, since Hand and Stone looked like a nice spa. I just don’t understand how such a terrible masseuse was hired there. Thumbs down!

I found Hand & Stone in Clark through a Groupon deal. I hesitantly decided to take a chance on the deal. The offer was very reasonable, but I was nervous about the quality of service I would receive from a franchise spa offering online deals to try to entice people to come.
Let’s just say, I’m glad I took a risk. I would recommend Hand & Stone in an instant.
The establishment is tucked way in the back corner of a strip mall, right off the Clark Circle (near Target). It’s easy to miss from the road. Upon entering, there is a check-​in desk and a small waiting area. Unlike actual spas (as opposed to franchise spas), there is no relaxation room. There is no space to unwind long before or after your appointment time. Unlike more upscale spas, there is also no food or coffee available– just a water cooler.
Despite the lack of luxury amenities, the waiting area is nicely decorated. Additionally, the receptionists are well-​trained to respect the relaxing ambience for guests. While the receptionists were answering phones and checking people out on the occasions that I visited, they never made the waiting area seem noisy or busy. Plus, I have never once heard the receptionists swapping stories about their personal lives, which is one of the drawbacks that turned me away from a similar establishment, Massage Envy. I appreciated their courtesy.
One of their massage therapists, Eric, is outstanding. Eric goes beyond just providing a relaxing session. Eric focuses on identify areas of tension and alleviating pain. I feel better not just during the massage, but for the week or so after, as well. The level of service that he provides surpasses that which I have received from other therapists. This holds true even when comparing his massages to those offered at more expensive spas in the area.
Another great plus with this spa is that if you complete an online survey following your appointment, you may receive a coupon for a following visit. I thought this was a great perk, and it encouraged me to schedule another appointment even more quickly.

I bought a Groupon for Hand & Stone a few months ago, I forgot about it, and it expired. I went to the spa today to see if I can still redeem it and the receptionist said that the promotional value is still valid, yes! Walk-​ins were welcome so I was able to book a massage with in an hour. New customers have to fill out this form, it’s basically your contact info and where your problem areas are.
My massage therapist was Thomas (sidenote, I prefer women massage therapists but since I was a walk-​in, beggers can’t be choosers!). He was friendly and professional. I noted that I had a sore neck probably from sleeping wrong and he explained what he would do step by step. He also made sure I was comfortable. The massage was amazing! I asked for medium pressure and it was PERFECT. I walked out of the room feeling relaxed and my neck wasn’t sore anymore!
Checking out, the receptionist, Ally (she wasn’t the one who checked me in) had a little bit of trouble processing my Groupon deal from my phone. I had to sign onto the computer so she can print out the deal– no biggie. She then proceeded to tell me about their membership program. I told her that although I enjoyed my massage today, I did not want to sign up. She kept explaining how much money I’d be saving if I enrolled, but still… I said no. Her persistence was admirable but it came off as RUDE.
Overall, however, I was very pleased with my massage!

I competed in a martial arts tournament, so I planned a sports massage two days after to help me recover. I had never been to Hand and Stone, nor had I ever had a massage (or facial) in my life. I’m very happy I had the foresight to schedule both in my tournament aftermath.
My facial was first, and I had originally asked for a signature Detox facial. After looking at my skin, the facialist recommended that I try the signature Sensitive Skin facial. She wasn’t upselling me – they are the same price. I appreciated that she made the recommendation and gave me some more insightful advice about switching up my product regimen as she went through the steps of the facial. Again — it wasn’t about upselling me, it was about professional advice, and I really appreciated it. The extractions were uncomfortable, but awesome. Far more effective than what I can accomplish clumsily at home.
Next was the massage, and I wasn’t super keen on the idea of being undressed, but the room was dim and my massage therapist was extremely professional and courteous. I pointed out areas where I’d been bruised at the tournament, and she took special care with those spots. It was a great, deep tissue massage and I felt fantastic afterward.
Both my facialist and massage therapist were sure to advise me to keep well hydrated after having the services done, and they offered me water in between my services. I had a minor scheduling snafu, and the receptionist gave me a bunch of complementary sample products as a thank you.
Overall, I was very pleased, and decided to sign up for the monthly massage or facial. I’m looking forward to my next one!
