History

Established in 1968.

Clay Center Presbyterian Manor was the fifth of the 18 Kansas and Missouri senior living communities founded by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. Ground was broken May 7, 1967. The land, once the site of Clay County Community High School, was donated by Mrs. George Kreeck, one of Clay Center Presbyterian Manor’s original board members. In 1984, work was completed on the addition of a dining room, therapy room, third-floor storage area and expansion of the lounge and office area on the second floor. In 1999, as the result of a yearlong study, the board and advisory committee voted to build three townhomes to help satisfy a growing need for independent living options. In 2008, the community undertook a major expansion and renovation project that included a new multipurpose room and chapel, hi-tech video conference education center, a wellness/therapy center, and spa renovations on all three floors. The «Shaping the Future» campaign signaled a culture change to resident-centered care.
