Chill Frozen Yogurt

Not too impressive. They have ONE sugar-​free flavor per day which is chocolate or vanilla. Rah. Hold me back. Ridiculously overpriced and they literally WEIGH THE SPOON too. They sell their spoons at the same $ 7.85 per pound as their yogurt and toppings. How chickenshit is THAT? Their yogurt is watery and flavorless and you can die of old age trying to get it out of the machine a spoonful at at time. The floor was filthy when I was there, but there were plenty of kids (who allegedly work there) standing around talking to each other. Go somewhere else – wayyyy not worth it here.

Of all of the frozen yogurt places I have tried in St. Louis, Chicago, and Washington DC, Chill is by far the best. No question. The fro yo is sold by weight, so you can have as many (or as little) flavors and toppings as you want.
The flavor selection is always phenomenal– my personal favorites include ginger peach, salted caramel, and mexican hot chocolate (not together). The chocolate tastes like «real» chocolate, not like chocolate ice cream. The flavors are more on the tart side, but I like that. The fro yo isn’t too melty or too icy. The fruit flavors taste like the real fruit, not like a chemical substitute.
And the toppings are complement the fro yo so well– toasted coconut, slivered almonds, chex muddy buddies, hot fudge. They definitely don’t have as many topping choices as some fro yo places, but their fro yo is so good on its own that it doesn’t need so many toppings.
On top of the unbeatable froyo and toppings, the décor is so tasteful. The color scheme is subtle and I love the lighting fixtures on the ceiling. Other fro yo chains have garish color schemes, but I appreciate Chill’s simplicity. I also like that you can sample the fro yo yourself, no waiting for a someone working to fill your sample cup (or judge the amount of flavors you try).
I would come to Chill at least twice a week when I went to WashU. If you’re a student, make sure to take advantage of the student discount on Sundays and get a punch card. I much prefer Chill to Froyo or Orange Leaf by far. If I could give Chill 6 stars, I would!

I freaking love this yogurt. The flavors of yogurt and the topping choices are great. I especially like the homemade salted caramel. Nice touch.
I will say, that the last three times I’ve gone in, the teenagers behind the counter have been chatting to each other and not attentive to customers at all. That’s almost annoying enough for me to find another place. I get that it’s a froyo shop and you’re young… but come on, really? You’re getting paid.

What a great place! Yogurt flavor selection was a little small, but the flavors they had were delicious. Lots of toppings to choose. Great atmosphere.

Maybe I’m just not a frozen yogurt fan, but this yogurt tastes off to me. I guess it’s «tangy» like the other reviewers mention or even sour tasting. I sort of wondered at first if I had some that went bad, but then all the flavors have this common taste. There’s also a weird aftertaste. I added toppings to my yogurt and the flavor of the yogurt was so strong I couldn’t taste what I had mixed in. Bummer!
I still gave 3 stars because the staff was super friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Also, they had a really good selection of toppings and candy.

Living in walking distance from Chill is dangerous. My roommates and I would stop at Chill at least once a week for a little froyo fix. We always told ourselves we would just get a small serving with fruit toppings but somehow we walked out each time with our froyo piled high with gummy bears, chocolate chips and oreo crumbles.
The froyo at Chill isn’t as creamy as other places but it’s a bit thicker and they always have a great selection of flavors. The toppings are always consistent, they rarely change but the variety is pretty good! Overall the froyo is great but the location is what really makes it 4 stars for me.

Stopped in at the location on Wydown at the end of a date night. What a great way to finish an evening. We caught them about 30 minutes before close. We happened to be the only people in the restaurant.
It was clean and fully stocked. The employees were very pleasant and didn’t try to rush us out. There are a number of yogurt restaurants popping up all around the city and this one seemed to have a great variety of yogurt flavors. I opted for the salted caramel and didn’t regret it.
I always try to walk in reverse order at the topping bar to be sure I don’t miss anything!
We will be back the next time we’re in Clayton.

You know what they say it the restaurant business??? Location! Location! Location! That’s what Chill has going for it– it’s in the adorable Clayton/​Wydown area. Most of their customers walk here from somewhere nearby.
The Yogurt is good– but it’s not the best in town. They usually have around 8 varieties and probably 20 toppings. The flavors and toppings are a little lacking.
When the weather is warm, I love sitting on their patio tables outside. It’s definitely one of the best places to people watch.

Mediocre… the fro yo’s have that ice crystal like texture to them… UGH i hate it! like chocolate sorbet instead of yogurt.
I have unfortunately been here plenty of times since it was walking distance to my apartment. Average selection of yogurts nothing unusual, toppings are the usual… the fruit is fresh and tastes great!

I love FroYo! Coming from Chicago, with options like Red Mango, Starfruit, Yogenfruz, Pinkberry, etc. I had high expectations for Chill. For starters, none of the flavors seemed exciting, and the ones that I sampled, were… just ok. None of them had the real fruit flavor I was looking for. I ended up choosing the blackberry since that is a flavor I have no had in Chicago, and I did enjoy it with strawberries and mini gummy bears as toppings.
I also really liked the décor and chic vibe in this location. It was the first time I was in a FroYo place that made me want to sit down and enjoy my dessert there. The pretty blue and white exuded a feeling of tranquility that was a perfect end to what had been a crazy day.
All in all, Chill was good, but it doesn’t live up to my Chicago faves. Will I be back? Probably. Will I shout about it from my rooftops? Not likely.

$ 4.95 for mediocre flavors. There are so many good flavor options for FroYo that offering just the basics (cake batter, chocolate, vanilla, tart, etc.) makes no sense to me. Toppings are standard, setting is pleasant, prices seem a bit high. If I’m driving by, I may stop, but I wont go out of my way for it.

This place is definitely good frozen yogurt but not great by any means. I usually can find a flavor that I like but rarely am I blown out of the water by any of the choices or selections. If you live in Clayton/​DeMun and are looking for a Fro Yo place that you can walk to on a nice summer evening then Chill will more than be able to fill that void. However, I think FroYo is a much better Yogurt place with more/​better choices.
The toppings at chill are usually pretty good and they always have everything. I can’t really say that their selection is bad but they don’t have more choices than any other Yogurt place.
Overally I’d probably put this place closer to 3.5 stars. Decent selection and I would be surprised if you couldn’t find something that you like here. With that said, there are better alternatives in St. Louis. Good for Wash U students however as they take campus cards

Hands down the best fro-​yo in St. Louis. In terms of actual fro-​yo flavors, probably not as much selection as what you’ll find at Fro-​Yo on the Loop. Or maybe it’s the same. But based on memory alone, it feels like there was less selection. With that said, the original tart flavor is always a safe bet and the original flavor is exactly right combination of… frozen yogurt. Dark chocolate is also good, as is cake batter.
Selection of toppings is good. Fruit looks fresh and they have a pretty good assortment of candy. Last time I went, they had sugar-​coated gummy worms! Haven’t had those in a long time.
Price is 40 cents per ounce, so reasonable. Plus, they have a punch card for a buy 10 get 1 (I’ve completed 2 of these cards already… ahaha)
Also, they have whipped cream hiding behind the counter. You just have to ask them specifically for it.

The flavors today are all very simple, light and reminiscent of summertime; raspberry sorbet, blackberry, blood orange, tart, vanilla (sugar-​free & a nonfat variety), chocolate (sugar-​free), dark-​chocolate (nonfat), cake batter. I was a little bummed there wasn’t a more unique or decadent flavor (in a low-​fat version… it just tastes better); like key lime pie or German chocolate cake, something like that.
I went with blackberry and the sugar-​free vanilla. I was surprised I liked the taste of the sugar-​free vanilla more then the cake batter. The vanilla flavor was very strong, in a good way. Plus it stayed cold better than the blackberry. Which I was also glad for. My dish of fro-​yo stayed nice and cold today, no runny, soupy mess here. Even sampling was a clean experience. It was almost as if the temp was turned down on the refrigeration because it was very chilled. Whatever it was, it was good today. It stayed solid all the way to the end, and I was eating slowly because I was multi-tasking-texting-&-Yelping about how great it was compared to my last visit. Yea!

I love frozen yogurt.
I came across this place when my friend and I went to get chopped liver at the Jewish Deli next door.
This place is prettier, cleaner, and much more calm than FroYo on the Loop. Their out door seating is more shady too (which is nice in the summer).
They had little cups out for us to take and sample their yogurt. I liked most of the flavors they had. They weren’t overly sweet — which made me happy. Also, their pineapple sorbet was really tasty!

Decided to try Chill for a second time since a few of my friends have mentioned how much they like it. I don’t.
Compared to Fro Yo in the Loop, Chill is cleaner, calmer and better staffed. Their toppings are better and more varied. Unfortunately, their yogurt sucks.
Fro Yo’s yogurt tastes like yogurt — creamy and kind of like ice cream, but lighter. Chill’s yogurt tastes like it is non-​dairy. Not creamy at all. When it melts it looks less like melted ice cream than watery gel.
I’m sticking to Fro Yo.

I tend to not be the first one to jump on food bandwagons, but it’s about time that I get into the self-​serve froyo fad since froyo is one of my most favorite things in the world.
Chill, I’ll jump on your bandwagon any day. Wait… that sounds dirtier than it should.
The hours are great, so when I get a craving for froyo at 9pm while I’m sitting alone in my apartment, I can act on that craving. This may have happened last night. Oh, and two nights before that. Love the fact that I don’t have to deal with the Loop to get a froyo fix.
They have great froyo flavors that are delicious and seem to be changed out pretty frequently. They have fruit-​flavors and more ice cream-​ish flavors like dark chocolate and cake batter.
Wonderful selection of toppings! Fruit, candy, sea salt caramel, mochi, cereal, sprinkles, etc.
$ 0.43/oz…slightly higher than FroYo in the Loop.
Get a punch card to earn a FREE delicious cup o’ heaven.
Chill, I’m going to blame you for my weight gain this summer.

Went back again today (there’s a good chance I may be obsessed with Chill) and got granola with my yogurt! You have to ask for it but they do have it, safely tucked away under the counter.
But now I find myself wondering, what else do they have hidden under that counter? I guess there’s only one way to find out: ask. and hopefully you shall receive.

Chill is a whopping two minute walk from my front-​door, which could be considered dangerous, given my past love-​affair with certain other yogurt establishments (see «Generic Outro,» below). Luckily for me, Chill has proven to be pretty underwhelming.
On my 7+ visits, the original plain tart has ranged between tasteless to slightly too sweet, yet still basically tasteless. If there’s one thing worse than craving yogurt and getting «cold white anonymous texture,» it’s getting «cold white anonymous texture that tastes vaguely of sugar and plastic.»
I want to love Chill, and I do commend their venturing into riskier flavor territories; their blood orange sorbet is fine, although the elusive plastic/​chemical taste was present on at least one recent occasion.
Chill also has a nice selection of toppings, including mochi (multi-​colored, because you can never have enough red #40 in your diet) sliced/​chopped fruit, and some tempting caramel sauce type thing.
I’ll probably stick to my sporadic visits to Chill, cause it’s just –so damned close-​, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a change in their yogurt formula. Pretty please?

I judge a frozen yogurt place by its «Original Plain Tart» and its selection of proper yogurt toppings (i.e. mochi, varied berries, the occasional nostalgic carb cereal). For proper reference, it should be noted that I’m more into Pinkberry yogurt, less into Red Mango, and I go bananas over the self-​serve at 16 Handles and Phileo Yogurt of East-​Coast fame.
