Mixed review, the work was very good, but you can get good work at a lot of businesses… I am all about customer service and at this business, customer service was lacking! We dropped off two rings for re-sizing, my wife is having continuing problems with arthritis and couldn’t get her rings on anymore. We were initially told«a week or two». The gentleman said he would call us once the work was done. After three weeks, we went to the store and were told that if he hadn’t called us, the work was not done. We were told the work would be completed the next week.(ended up hearing this three different times). We went in two more times over the next two weeks and each time we were«scolded», with the gentleman saying he would call… He finally called us on a Wednesday evening. We excitedly went to pick up the rings the next day only to find a hand written sign on the door saying they closed early that day. We returned after work Friday to find another sign saying they had once again closed early, why didn’t he tell us this when he called to say the rings were ready? We finally got our rings last night, it took six and a half weeks for something that we were told would take no longer than two weeks initially. NOTHAPPY. No apology for taking so long, no nothing. I’ll take my business elsewhere in the future.

You can bring you old gold and silver and use it as a credit towards something new. He pays more for scrap and you feel like family. He makes awesome one of a kind pieces and the girls love it. Thanks for the beautiful rings and money clip.

Doug, owner of R & L Jewelers, is the greatest. He’s knowledgeable, HONEST, and his items are only of the highest quality. When designing and crafting a piece, Doug is exemplary in his detail and craftsmanship. He is a true artist. Doug has been my jeweler for about 10 years and I wouldn’t take my jewelry to, nor buy from anyone else. You can leave your items with stones and know, beyond a doubt, that the items and stones you get back are yours. Additionally he has a great sense of humor and is fun to deal with. Ditto on the comment regarding a wait; but that just proves his worth.

Doug was recommended to me by an acquaintance when she heard I was searching for a special, unique gift for my daughter. He spent an extensive amount of time helping me find the perfect piece of jewelry. She loved the necklace he helped me select and wears it constantly. Since that time, almost 2 years ago, I have returned to Doug for repairs on my jewelry and to purchase both estate and custom made pieces. Doug does all work onsite himself. He is very detailed which I believe comes from his being attentive and caring about his customer’s satisfaction. Doug has now become our family jeweler. My Dad, sisters, and nieces all go to him with their jewelry needs. We trust him to do exceptional work and to stand behind every purchase and repair. As a bonus he also has one of the best selections of estate jewelry I’ve seen in a long time. His repair and custom work is in high demand so expect to wait longer than at other jewelry stores but the wait is worth it.

Doug is amazing! I have gone to him for well over a decade. What to say? He helped me choose a memorable first ‘dress’ watch for my daughter’s 13th birthday, cut a ring off a finger which had grown, resized another ring of questionable dollar value but enormous sentiment, came up with a vintage bracelet for an older relative that made a memorable Christmas… I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Check the hours; he isn’t always there, but worth the wait!!! update! upon the death of a relative, I received my grandmother’s diamond & sapphire bracelet. Unfortunately it was in disrepair; actually I don’t think it was worn in the last 40 years. Doug was able to repair this vintage piece and it looks original. When my son became engaged, I gave it to his soon-to-be wife, and she wore it on her wedding day! It was both something old AND something blue! Thanks, Doug!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when selling my old ring. I imagined shady pawn shops, haggling over value, etc. so I was fairly blown away with how easy and comfortable Doug’s process is. I was in and out of his beautiful, pristine little shop filled with gorgeous jewelry within 20 minutes. He sat me down in a private office, looked at my ring, explained what he was basing his price on, offered me options, we came to an agreement, he paid me, wished me well… and that was it! Jewelry is obviously his passion — he makes his pieces by hand. Add to that the fact that he is uncommonly nice and obviously values his customers, and you shouldn’t let anyone else handle your jewelry.

I had an antique ring repaired and resized. The craftsmanship and quality of Doug’s work was exceptional. I highly recommend his services to family and friends.

Doug is a man with a heart of gold. Stayed late so I could get a ring cut off my Grandma after a fall. It was a SUNDAY! He even came out to the car. Thank you thank you! He will be repairing the ring as well. I will keep you posted on that.

The man that runs this small business jewelry store is the best! He knows his products in and out, and has hands down the best pricing around the Bay Area. Everything here is quality, so if your trying to get a cheap ring for next to nothing, go to Kay’s, cause you will only find quality here.
