Sea Captain Resort On the Bay

Maybe I misread the information regarding this motel but I thought it was a HOTEL when I booked the location. I was given a room I didn’t book for which was supposed to have been a king sized bed along with a living room and TV for a bayside view. When I got there, I received a corner king bayside view. The service was great though. Maid service was nice and adjusted my bathroom supplies and placed them on top of a wash cloth. She cleaned up well and even vacuumed and changed all the sheets. She even left some Hershey kisses for us on the bed. The motel is definitely much older though and has that old motel smell. The walls are thin and you can hear people across the walkway from you. The bathroom has a window right where the shower is which means… Yes… People can see you through it. The first couple of nights was fine since the motel wasn’t so busy but once that Friday hit, I had to have my husband hold up a towel for me so I could shower. The wifi is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! We could not get any wifi connection and we were only 20 feet from the office! On our last day, I was randomly reading the «rules» left on the wall in the closet and THEY HAVE FREE BIKE RENTALS. If I had known, I definitely would have taken advantage so I hope this benefits whomever decides to stay there. Also, the parking lot was supposedly going under renovations so we had to park in a building next to us. After the weekend started, we were free to park in their parking lot. I didn’t see much renovating or much of a difference during my stay. Overall, I wouldn’t come back and would have stayed at a better location where I have more privacy, wifi that worked, and where I won’t have to have my husband hold up a towel for me while I showered.

I want to start off saying I really enjoyed my stay! The staff was friendly and the nearby beach (walking distance) was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The rooms are not a luxury hotel nor do they claim to be. Think efficiency apartment of motel rooms. I didn’t visit to stay in the room. The breakfast was adequate. This motel is full of regular folks… people not wanting to impress or be impressed. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Oh yeah, Pizza place down the street a few blocks is delicious.

I wouldn’t even give it a star if it was possible. We checked in and within the first 5 minutes searching for another hotel to stay.

We had a somewhat realistic idea of what we were getting into and still it was worse than that. It’s no Hilton or Days Inn for that matter. It’s called renovate!

I love this hidden treasure. Very affordable and great staff. Only complaint I have is the WIFI access would not work in my room and the remote would not turn up volume or turn the TV off. I will definitely be back but would not stay in room #1 again. That is the only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars.

Stayed here last year on a weekend vacation with my husband & kids! Stayed here & saw winter the dolphin, also the pier on weekends is fun! Lots of acts & fun stuff & the sunset is beautiful! Great place with great fishing, my husband caught a red from right by the pool! Pool & hottub are great & the breakfast they provide has alot to choose from! Not bad prices either! Would definately go again!
