Gelato Bello

I am having a hard time thinking of something positive to say about Bello. No one yelled at me? I got what I ordered? That’s about it.
First things first. The gelato isn’t gelato. Having been to Italy myself, and being a self-​proclaimed foodie, I know my way around gelato. This concoction was not as deliciously dense or as sweet as real gelato. They didn’t have my favorite flavor (stracciatella) and the texture was all wrong. This stuff, while not altogether bad, was very airy and almost whipped. It was sort of like one of those Mr. Frostie malts you buy at the grocery store. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting or hoping for.
The store itself is tucked inside a strip mall, which in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. Some of my absolute favorite restaurants are in strip malls or are hole in the wall places. In this case, the food had no redeeming value on the location. The interior of the shop was not very clean, the floors needed to be swept. The person working the counter had sort of a scowl on her face, and seemed to be annoyed that my friends were sharing a dish. They have no control over this really, but there is a cigar shop next-​door that allows patrons to smoke on the patio. Meaning that, if you are eating your «gelato» outside, it will have a slight cigar aftertaste. It just wasn’t very pleasant.

We stood at the counter for ten minutes and the woman in the back made eye contact with me twice before we decided to leave.

I’ve been here for dessert a couple times after dinner now and both times were just about an identical experience. The ice cream was good on both occasions but on both trips, the woman behind the table seemed so off putting. I thought maybe it was just me, but on both occasions everyone in the group left wondering what her problem was… Anyway, I enjoyed the ice cream but I will be taking my business to the other ice cream shop down the street in hopes for little bit of a better experience.

Decent gelato but a bit pricey. There are a few seats inside but it’s not the most inviting place.
The chocolate chip and cherry chocolate chip were really good, but the chocolate is just ok.
There is a $ 10 minimum charge if you use a credit card, which is pretty unfortunate.
I hate to lowball a rating but this place is the epitome of three stars

I came here on our trip to Clearwater beach and this was the one place I left disappointed by and it’s literally for a few very simple reasons, quality and service which are the two main driving points into an establishment in the first place. We stumbled upon here because we were in the area and wanted a nice after dinner treat and this place had decent Unilocal reviews so we figured why not.
Upon arrival, the lady working there did not greet us, no hello no nothing. That puts you in a sour mood because I’ve never seen someone working at an ice cream place, especially in a touristy beach town and not have a smile on their face, and forget the smile, she was mute. For me, it’s not the end of the world since I was hoping that the actual dessert would do all the talking and speak for itself. We decided to share an order with two scoops, I believe it was hazelnut and dark chocolate and it came to almost $ 7 for two little scoops. I mean that is definitely European prices and I did not care for it one bit. I will also mention that I spent a lot of time in Florence where I ate fresh gelato almost everyday where it originated and this place did not come close. It didn’t taste fresh nor did it have that creaminess or flavor that it needed. I literally took a few bites and gave it to my hubby to finish the rest. And he himself didn’t even want to finish it and he finishes everything so that was a let down.
I guess the taste and quality for us just wasn’t there nor would I want to come back when in town, but seriously, smile lady. You own a business, you want to make money and succeed, put on a little bit of a happy face. Maybe it was just an off day, and I get it, we all have those so I will give her the benefit of the doubt that it was just one of those crappy days and she is much more pleasant on other days or other people who may work there as well. But for me, I doubt I will be back.

Gelato was delicious! Had one scoop of Nutella and one scoop of Oreo! The service was a little lackluster, however. They gentleman was busy in the back when we came in and we had to wait an awkward amount of time for him to come to the counter. And when he did, he barely even greeted us. not what I would expect from a beach town ice cream place, so that would be my only disappointment. But the gelato was super tasted!

Absolutely disgusting. I’ve had good Gelato and bad Gelato, this ranks among the worst. Many flavors such as the «Scottish Cookie» are flavorless and may even make you sick.

Lady was a bit abrasive, parking was tight and a $ 10 minimum on gelato for credit cards. Got the Butterfingers Gelato. It was pretty tasty.

This is good Italian style gelato with bountiful portions. The ice cream flavors were great, but not many flavors to choose from. The man behind the counter was nice an he aloud a one scoop portion for my 5 year old daughter that absolutely enjoyed her chocolate gelato.

Not happy with this store! I ordered a cherry chocolate chip medium Italian ice cream and got half of a cherry. The bathrooms were out of order and the worker was not very couth! I will never go there again!

Really good gellato. The price is a little steep but well worth it. Try the nutella flavor and mascarpone.

You can’t complain about price on Clearwater beach, its going to be a little expensive! This place gives a more then generous amount of gelato, which at some places can be a few bucks extra for just plain ice cream. They have a variety of flavors that are all fresh and delicious. We went in a few minutes prior to them closing and they still greeted us with a welcoming smile, which is great customer service. All around love this place. I live locally and we will continue to go here for great service and gelato!

Good Italian desert dishes after dinner, many varieties. CANNOLI, A crisp fried pastry shell filled with sweetened ricotta or Italian-​style cream or custard.

There are many places to get Gelato (for some reason?) in this area and we just came accross this one first on our way to the beach. The shop was small and the owner was friendly but things seemed a bit pricey ($ 5 for two small scoops). It tasted good, worth stopping in.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It is in a small strip mall in a very touristy area. First things first, the service was great. The gentleman behind the counter allowed to sample a couple of flavors. For $ 5 you get a HEAPING serving of gelato. It is two scoops and you can mix or match.
Generous, delicious, convenient. I had the caramel gelato and it was superb. It was not a subtle flavor. It was amazing. I am sad it is 2000 miles from me.

Gelato is made in the store. Flavors are varied. The blood orange I had was velvety smooth and delicious. Great place for a quick gelato and even an espresso.

Loved this place! Hearing Italian was a delight, made us miss Rome! Enjoyed hearing about his village back home. Nutella gelato was a real treat. High quality, creamy and delicious, we plan to go back everyday!

This is a small place on Clearwater Beach; parking is at a premium in their lot shared with a couple of other businesses. But oh so worth the stop. If you are on a scooter or bicycle the parking has a designated spot which is helpful. Otherwise if you are in a car you may have to park on the street or in another lot. But again, worth it.
I am a fan of Mint Chocolate Chip. I asked and was told they did not have that and I was so thankful for the alternate suggestion because now I am in LOVE with Cherry Chocolate Chip. Good! Good! Good! Not just flavor but pieces of cherry and obviously chocolate. If you have not tried this combination you are missing a chorus of flavors that will have you coming back for more. And I have!!!
Like the parking the shop is small with a couple seats on the inside and on the sidewalk. But it is adequate for that stop when you are on the beach and need a moment to cool down and take that special moment.
Definitely a try!!!
