The Home Depot

Home Depot claims as you are put on hold when you are on the phone with them that one can order an item on-​line and then pick it up at the nearest Home Depot. We tried to buy a 5 gallon can of Thompson’s Mineral Stain on line but we could not pick it up at the nearest Home Depot— to get it we have to make a hour drive there and back. This is false inaccurate advertizing!

Don’t get me started. HD Steelyard or Highland Hills, Euclid has better inventory and helpful employees. I have no choice sometimes, and I have to go to this HD. Always a frustration.

Oh hey! Here I am, 3 years later, writing basically the same review for Home Depot! I reached the end of my rope this time and dropped it to 1 star.
So this time around, we are in a house and I’m painting and taking on various home projects that include building a coffee table and doing some landscaping. Again, the service at the paint counter is horrendous. I had one good experience super early in the morning and the guy at the counter was:
–actually at the counter
–happy
–knew what paint was
–knew how to mix paint
–paid attention to what he was doing
All good qualities! The other 5+ times I’ve been here, I’ve gotten 2 samples of the same color (SERIOUSLY. PAY ATTENTION), ignored while a young man flirted with his coworkers and the other customers, ignored by the customer service employee who saw me waiting for the paint person to emerge and then sassed by said customer service employee when I asked where paint person was (obviously, I should have known. Paint person was wandering the aisles and gazing at the ceiling. I know paint fumes are rough, but COME ON), and YOU GUESSED IT: IGNORED.
Another time, I was looking for table legs and couldn’t track them down and literally followed/​chased 3 employees before I found one standing still. Except he was talking to a friend and clearly did not have time for me. So I stopped in front of him and he finished his story AFTER I said «Hi, excuse me» and then asked «What do you want». When I asked about table legs, I got, «Ehh I don’t know if we have those anymore. We might not have those. At least I don’t think we do. We did once. You should go check Aisle blah blah anyways to be sure.» WHAT. At this point, I was blinded by fiery rage. THAT WAS SO HELPFUL.
Anyways. I hate this store.

Come here a lot. Not because I like coming here. But it’s the most convenient to one of my properties that I own. The customer service is TERRIBLE. I have to run someone down to ask a question. I feel like I’m bothering them just for them to do their job. The selection here is pretty average for a Home Depot. If you can find someplace else, I would recommend you go there.

I hate writing this review and truly hesitate to tell my honest truth. Don’t be a white girl shopping at this store and expect any customer service. I’ve lived in Cleveland Heights for several decade but they don’t care who keeps their doors open. Unless you’re a different color you should expect a policy of nonexistent help, invisible service. I have employee names, actual video, countless receipts and proof showing interactions that are beyond egregious. Don’t bother asking any associate a question they walk past you and ignore you or send you somewhere else. Chase them down (if you can– while texting) and they might page some phantom person from that department to help you… They never show up.
This had to be the worst incident ever, 3 women ‘working’ in customer service actually laughed among themselves as I tried to return 4 items. As if it were a contest or joke on how to hassle me after I walked away. I’m an ‘unwelcomed’ customer? I tried to explain my product issues (well within their return policy) not totally more than $ 13 but costing me more than $ 70 in corrective supplied for damages based on their ‘departments’ experts’ ignorant recommendations. I was embarrassed and humiliated by the whole transaction but stayed calm. They made me feel foolish and turned me back into the store without help or direction to hunt fore more useless supplies.
Another customer in line overheard the transaction and approached me later while shopping and asked if he could try returning those items. He agreed they were rude, unprovoked and «snotty.» He had no problem with the process. He was treated very well and invited to their in-​store classes. I insisted he keep the cash for his successful transaction and that he consider shopping in local family stores. He agreed and I thanked him for his bravery.
I expect NOTHING to come of this review whereas this has been their corporate culture in Cleveland Heights /​Severance since they moved in.
Shame on shoppers who’d support this obviously debasing business practices. Discriminatory, rude, always complaining they’re tired, unapologetic, cluelessly and ignorant to home repairs. –
Go to Dunn Hardware on Wilson Mills.

This has been my experience with this location many many times over the last 4 years. The location is well stocked and the prices are OK, so it’s worth it if you live in the area. However, unless you go to this store daily and seriously know the location of every item you’ll need a smart phone. Here is how to navigate a Home Depot. To find an item you’ll need a phone to go on the home depot’s website and search your item… it will tell you how many items are in stock at that location, what aisle # and section (bay) # in the aisle your item is located. You will need this because the staff has no idea where to find it, nor do they know what their job is, or even that they’re at a home depot. Unless they are putting something on a shelf they are useless. So bring your phone and get the stuff quickly without having to deal with the zombie stocking crew… and DON’T ask for DIY advice!

I like this particular place. 75% of the time, the staff is really friendly and bends over backwards to help. The other 25% they apparently are needed to support things like walls and counters. Just can’t quite be bothered. But, that is few and far between.
They usually have what I need when I need it. Their prices are always better then the other store. Seems to be more of a commercial environment apposes to a frue frue place.

Just wanted to comment on the great customer service I received at the store. Everyone was extremely friendly and went above and beyond with my project.. thanks home depot

This is literally the worst home improvement store I have ever been to. It is completely unorganized, the employees are uneducated on the products and the way the store is set up and their lack of customer service is infuriating. I ordered a screen door and was supposed to have it installed and it is STILL not installed correctly. I ordered it April 26^th and it has been over 2 months.
Please please please consider going anywhere else, this place is a major headache causer.

The service in the lumber area was awful. I walked around everywhere looking for someone. When I finally did and asked for help he continued doing something (non customer related) for awhile until he slowly came over and asked for measurements. He didn’t even hand me the wood when finished — just turned off the machine and walked away.

JR in electrical is five stars. I had no clue what I even was doing at Home Depot but dude was super helpful and I ended up spending $ 180 on bad ass things like speaker wire, a gun safe, a mop, some adapters, an extension cord, some home security alarms, and we had some laughs along the way!

2 stars for having the things you’d expect Home Depot to have, but their customer service is horrendous. Everyone there seems to loath their life. Had the lumbar guy roll his eyes and tell me he «don’t work here to do projects for nobody» when I asked him to cut a 2×4. Literally his job description. Anyways, if you know what you need and can get out without talking to anybody, it might not be too bad, otherwise there are plenty of smaller stores that would be happy to be helpful.

I come here often because I need to get my house sold! & they have what I
need to make my home saleable

Literally the worst customer experience I have ever had to deal with. It’s a sad day when me, a customer, is more polite than the staff. Definitely needs to be inspected by corporate Home Depot. I will not be returning anytime soon.

What kind of hardware store runs out of snow shovels at the start of the snow season? Staff here are consistently unhelpful and act bothered when you ask for help. The store is huge and it’s hard to locate items.

Several weeks ago I wrote a negative review of the problems I had with the delivery of a washer and dryer. Eventually they were delivered and I discovered I needed a periscope vent, so the delivery men could not set it up but that is not their fault but rather my poor planning. So back to HD I went to return 1 item and buy the equipment necessary to set up the dryer. I dreaded the return but to my surprise the return was INCREDIBLY easy, efficient and painless. After the return I needed to buy certain items and requested assistance from 2 associates. I was shocked when they knew what they were talking about and were very helpful. I was pleasantly surprised and thought these guys need a compliment, so I am thanking HD for a pleasant experience.

No one here knows what’s going on; also I loathe getting my bags looked through when I leave a store. The plants look sad as the staff. Returning something here is annoying; staff is poorly trained and is generally unhelpful. If you get paint here, you’ll get minimal service. Don’t get keys cut here, it’s difficult to find someone to do it and you’re running the risk that the copy will be defective, as I’ve experienced (go to a true value). The carts are all over the lot and most of the time there aren’t any carts when you walk in the store. This store is all sorts of fail.

Always atrociously bad customer service. Rarely do I see anyone to help find things and when I do, they usually have no idea where anything is located, sending me on wild goose chases throughout the store. This evening was the worst experience I’ve had. All Home Depots I’ve been to are bad businesses to patronize, but this one seems to be one of the worst. After I was overcharged on my receipt this evening, I was then made to wait 10 minutes just to have it removed. I wonder if half the staff is stoned or just too underpaid and unmotivated to help. It serves me right for supporting a giant corporation like Home Depot and not going to the neighborhood Ace hardware store on Coventry. Every time I go to Ace, they help me find what I need in no time and take their jobs seriously. Home Depot is just a giant time suck.

This is a relatively large, well stocked location. Service is spotty, just like all big box stores. Has not always had what I needed, so I go to local hardware store. Appliance service is OK. Lumber supplies OK, with them custom cutting material on a limited basis for free.

I used to find it difficult to find assistance at this Home Depot, but I have noticed this change since around September of 2011. I recently placed an order online for in-​store pickup and they had my order ready in 15 minutes! I recommend giving online ordering a try.
