I went there yesterday after being recommended to go by a good friend. Anytime you are in steelyard you have this expectation that any given store is going to poorly maintained. This is probably a product of how bad the steelyard Wal-mart is taken care of. Anyways, this store should not be lumped into that stigma. I went into the store and it was extremely well kept, all games were in order and organized in a logical fashion. There were two guys working the store. Jacob was who helped me and he was nice and very helpful. I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes, had great customer care, and the place was well maintained. To me, that gets a 5-star review and I will go back in a heart beat.

Good at selection… bad at selling/advice! I tried to give away a PS3 at Buybacks, but a few pieces were missing. They couldn’t take it and I asked where could I take it… they didn’t know! Customer service sucked so I told them Thanks for Nothing! If you have a Video Game System that they can’t salvage… send it to a scrapyard!

I bought a used game here that didn’t work because the disc was badly scratched. When I brought it back to exchange the store no longer had that game, and I was told that they don’t do cash refunds. So I picked out a slightly cheaper game, and was given the difference in cash. Bad business model and misleading. I should have been told that I would receive the difference in cash. Go elsewhere if you are looking to buy used games or movies.

So I’ve never been to Buybacks, but now I want to go. I called to see if they had any Xbox 360 controllers and when the phone was answered, I heard, «Thank you for calling Buybacks, the greatest store ever, this is Jacob, how can I help you?» That answer alone is worth writing a review about, right? hahaha

They sat they give you top dollar… but NO!!! I brought in a stack of new Xbox 360 games, between 8 – 10, they offered me $ 6.00??? And the girl at the counter… a small black girl with pink or red hair was one of the rudest people I’ve ever had«serve» me! I came in around 30⁄40 minutes to close and said something like«you must be happy it’s almost over right?» and she rudely replied«no, I ain’t almost over soon enough having to deal with people this late at night right before close»??? What??? Could not believe her attitude. Point being… F Buybacks! Go to the Exchange in Lakewood and get what your items are really worth and not be treated like a piece of shit for being there, even if you come in right before close!

I’m bumping them up to five stars for their customer service, alone. Oh yes, that’s not even counting how cheap and awesome their selection is. I mean, I’m not one to spend $ 75 on a damn Wii game… and trust me, kids want a lot of expensive games all.the.time. But back to the service. I come in here a lot looking for movies that fit into general topics. The staff *always* helps me look up movie titles that are in line with my theme and then they help me find them! This process sometimes takes 15 minutes, but they set that aside to give me 1:1 attention. I love it! Cheap movies, video games and great service? Plus the option of trading in your old stuff? Oh yes, that’s what I call a win!

OK, I’m definitely showing off my nerd side here, but I almost passed out when I glanced in the general direction of the VHS section and saw multiple episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Holy crap, they haven’t made those in years! That alone gets this place four stars. And there’s a Jimmy John’s next door. Perfect for the nerdy loner who hates cooking.

Just popped in here this weekend. It’s a used music/dvd/blu-ray/video game store. I can’t believe I’ve never tried this before! Actually, I can’t believe I haven’t brought any of my stuff to sell back to them. That’ll probably go on my list of New Year’s «Resolutions,» aka, things to put off until summer. I got season 5 of LOST — just came out! on blu-ray for $ 35!!!* Original price would have been anywhere from $ 50-$ 60. Discs were in perfect condition. They also have a 7-day return policy if anything is damaged. And, as the cashier said, «you can always sell it back to us.» So I’m thinking that post-holiday season, people will be selling them some unwanted DVD boxed sets they got as gifts — and it’s up to us to get them on the cheap!!! *I realize some/most people would never think to buy a TV series on DVD or blu-ray…but I have an obsession.
