Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center

If you’ve already found this hotel, then you know that the location is excellent. Very downtown and about three blocks from the main RTA station. It’s a full service Marriott with a restaurant, room service, a concierge lounge (which isn’t open on weekends, but that’s normal), bar and such. Parking your car with the valet is incredibly expensive, so consider just using Über to make your way around town.
I’m a Platinum Preferred with Marriott Rewards, so I was upgraded to a corner room on the 19^th floor. Lake view, which let me look down and see the Rock Hall of Fame and the football stadium and Public Square. Being this far up meant that there was very little street noise and the corner room meant very little noise from hallway or neighbors. The room did have a connecting door and there was some noise through there, but not much.
Bed was comfortable, if maybe a little soft. Five windows, so you have to be pretty good with the curtains if you don’t want the rising sun to wake you up. Wifi is very expensive, but free for higher level elites. It worked pretty well.
This was a great hotel as a base of operations for exploring Cleveland. I’d stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay. The service was outstanding, extremely helpful and friendly staff. As an elite member I had access to the lounge on the 20^th floor where I enjoyed a wonderful view of the lake, hot breakfast daily, appetizers and dessert at night. I used the fitness center twice and the equipment was clean and in good working order. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and personable.
When it was time to leave they happily stored my bags until me conference was over, and helped me get a ride to the airport.
The hotel opens up to a lovely green space that was nice to walk around when the weather allowed for it. We were also within a 10 minute walk of some great pubs on 4^th street.
If I’m ever in Cleveland I will definitely stay there again.

Right from the front door, you feel like you are at home. Greeted by Richard, 22yr veteran at the Marriott, he makes you feel like you have been best friends for decades. He definitely made my 50^th birthday weekend a special experience. You can tell he loves what he does and is proud to do it for who he does it for. I will be sending Marriott corporate a communication about him. He is THAT good.
The lobby is beautiful. Our room, a corner king-​suite on the 17^th floor was clean and very comfortable. The whole place is top notch. We will be back the next time visiting Cleveland.

Solid Marriott property. Nothing great nothing bad. Rooms were a bit on the small side, but nothing egregious.
Had a great bar scene late night that you don’t often get at a Marriott.
Service from everyone we encountered was fantastic.

Pros: Beautiful, desk staff was helpful and friendly, delicious food at Jake’s bar, super comfortable bed, nice shower, Mary at desk adjusted our room rate due to a terrible night of sleep without my asking.
Cons: Expensive, people in adjoining room were so loud, up all night and I felt anxious that they kept trying to open our shared door (drunk 20 somethings), waitress at the bar was unfriendly, wine was crazy expensive, breakfast was mediocre at best, burnt coffee
I would actually give it another shot if I ever went back to Cleveland. It was such a comfortable room. Make sure you don’t book a room with an adjoining door!

Before I get into this review, let me say that by the end of this they did the right thing, so let that be clear however I shall never stay there again and I may rethink my long term relationship with Marriott which is a shame since I’m about to begin a more rigorous travel schedule at work.
This property is close to the Rock and roll hall of fame so that was our primary reason for choosing this particular property. It’s old and it shows. The ice machines were inoperable on two floors as I searched for ice. The hot water was sporadic and not very warm. The housekeeping was also a bit suspect as I picked up a sliver or glass in my foot heading to the shower.
Our major issue was with the guest next to us and the inability of the hotel to manage the situation. Loud, intoxicated and banging against the wall. First call at 10:30 asking if there was a function and what time we could expect it to end. The hotel sent security up apparently (we were never informed as to the result of the check) we were treated to some loud banging on our wall and a profanity ridden «I don’t care who knows @&$@@ my name» from the Guests next door.
After a couple more hours of this, coupled with the lack of hot water, the general state of the rooms, and the lack of follow up and control of this situation, we packed our stuff up and at midnight checked out for the drive home.
They did offer to move us to another floor but in light of the progression of events, we just wanted to leave at that point. They did refund the fee for the night.
I would have preferred them to control the drunken and aggressive behavior of others and not have to leave. Had this not happened, I may have rated them three stars (not bad, not good) based on the condition and maintenance of the property.

Visited the area during the Browns Vs Bengals Dec 2015 .had never been to Downtown Cleveland before (pretty quiet place) The hotel seemed very upscale and the concierge Lounge was simply outstanding. I tried Jakes lounge for a meal of Fish tacos’ and very disappointed (was horrible) and there were a bunch of really loud obnoxious people who ruined the eve.
The rooms were small for a large hotel but very comfy and I felt very comfortable being there.
I love the little market for snacks and stuff in the lobby (I am all about the noshing)
Someone below mentioned the parking price of $ 8??? It was $ 25 a night (Big shock)
The concierge lounge had a candy station (picture enclosed) and I think that was pretty cool

We thought the rooms were ok until we brought bed bugs home from there. Not to mention i paid cash for the room and they still charged my card. Was a nightmare getting the charges reversed.

I made reservations for a wedding and my card was charged even though we did not stay in the hotel. I have tried for a month to get my money back and they keep giving me the run around.

Horrible customer service the girl at the front desk did not crack a smile and did not even greet me, we will never stay here again rooms are super small and walls are so thin also room was dirty called the front desk and whoever the guy was that answered said they would come and clean nobody ever showed up also he was super rude, wifi is $ 12.95 and they lie and say it’s free wifi. We were suppose to stay for 2 nights ended up leaving and getting a room at The Metropolitan at the 9 WOW what a difference.

Love the rooms and amenities as well as service at the Marriott. The staff at the front desk are not the friendliest, but I give kudos to Abby Duffey and Adam Riegler. I have never worked with such a great sales executive and room controller. Without their help and efforts, our team would not have had such a great time in Cleveland.
The rooms are well-​managed and kempt, and the concierge lounge offers a variety of snacks and food. However, the gym is disappointing.
I’m an SPG loyalist, but I must admit that I enjoyed my stay the Marriott here and would not mind visiting, again, if I were to return to Cleveland. Moreover, the location makes exploring convenient as it is situated in the heart of downtown.

Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. Shower pressure was real strong. Close to Rock and Roll HOF, Browns Stadium, Progressive Field, Casino and local bars and restaurants.

A really nice Marriott property in the heart of Cleveland.
Stayed one night on business, the place was pretty big, lots of underground parking, rates were good, and the room was clean and quiet.
Overall it is convenient to all places in downtown. A larger property with plenty of comfortable rooms. There’s a restaurant and bar located in the first floor. Made a good late dinner for me, and I also dined at David’s (restaurant for buffet breakfast).
Staff were friendly and the hotel convenience store was well stocked.
Note: WiFi costs $ 15 per day. Parking was about $ 20 overnight self park in the garage.

I’ve stayed here for work several times. If you’ve ever stayed at a Marriott, you pretty much know what you’re getting. Clean, bland rooms and lobby with a decent, bland bar/​restaurant. It is close to a lot of restaurants, bars, attractions etc down town, and is even across the street from a casino and Lake Erie, but still nothing particularly memorable about the hotel itself.

We hosted our wedding at the Marriott and everything went perfectly. Cal was the best coordinator and we couldn’t have been happier. Our stay that night was very comfortable as well. Really enjoyed our view and the morning brunch.

I know it sounds really dumb, but the 1 missing star is because they have sucky pillows. They looked pretty the way they were lined up on the bed, but they’re glorified lumpy couch cushions. My neck was hurting like crazy when I woke up (hours earlier than I wanted to because I couldn’t sleep on them comfortably, so I was extra grumpy to begin with). I asked for 4 more pillows and that still really didn’t make that much of a difference, just a bigger lump than before. I know Marriott can afford better pillows than that. The ability to get a good night’s sleep while traveling is essential, especially when you’re already sleeping on a strange bed.
Aside from that, the location is great. It’s really convenient to get to the RTA Rapids at Tower City, really close to East 4^th, where all the nice restaurants are, really close to Progressive Field, and maybe a 10 to 15 minute walk, at most, to the Great Lakes Science Center and Rock Hall, with a beautiful Lake Erie view all the way there. The internet connection was strong and consistent. It does cost money, but it’s free if you have a Marriott Rewards card, which is also free. Valet is only $ 5 per day more than Self-​Park. For the convenience, $ 5 is totally worth it when you’re carrying a whole bunch of luggage.

I’ve been to hotels around the world and I can confidently say that my stay at this marriott was special.
I booked here because there was a wedding for me to attend. Check in was convenient and quick, even though I was quite early. Also, the pool and gym were better than most. I liked having control of the tv, lots of cardio equipment, and a good selection of free weights and cables. As a bonus there was unlimited bottled water, fruits, and cereal bars to snack on while I worked out.
The ice machine was good. The amenities were sufficient. The location is good and in walking distance to the bus terminal, downtown, and car rental places. I liked that I could walk from the wedding venue and not think about how sober I needed to be. Basically it was a good time.
Still, nothing’s perfect. I unfortunately had a problem with my room. Although it was a fine room, there was minor detail that was bothering me. I made a small complaint and in minutes they rectified my problem and apologized profusely. Breakfast was quick and efficient and check out was quick.
5 stars because of the location, amenities, and service. You guys did a great job from start to finish!

I was honestly expecting more from this hotel. I stayed here with my brother for a weekend during my friend’s wedding which was conveniently located down the street. Some off the cuff pros and cons:
PROS:
1) Location — walking distance to West 6^th (bar strip/​restaurants), Progressive Field, Browns Stadium, etc.
2) Staff– Friendly, efficient.
3) Views– nice from the window, if you can get a nice view in Cleveland;)
CONS:
1) Housekeeping– our room lock was inoperable because the cleaning lady hung a bag on the back of our door from the inside, causing us to get a new key and having to call maintenance to discover this simple mistake.
2) Bathroom– drab and basic, more Red Roof Inn then Marriott
3) Price– Yes, I know it’s a Marriot even with a Wedding rate we got 155 $, which after fees + internet daily came out easily to $ 200 a night.
Overall, I do not think this property was worth the money. I’m not sure if I would stay here again as I don’t know what the competition is like. I’d keep my eyes open for a good deal at another high end chain if I was to return to Cleveland.

Stayed at this hotel for a friend’s wedding in Cleveland, first time to Cleveland…
Good
1.) Location – Right in the heart of Cleveland lots of attractions within walking distance.
2.) Service – Friendly staff, very courteous, and very professional, could not ask for better service and people working at the hotel.
3.) Starbucks in the lobby so you can get all your goodies and caffeine fix Monday – Friday.
Bad
1.) Parking – They charge $ 8 a day and even more for in/​out privileges. Or, you can opt for the $ 20/​day. Either way, this adds up.
2.) Internet – The hotel charges $ 13/​day for each day. Again, another way to nickel-​dime you.
Overall
Enjoyed my stay but for the money, would probably go elsewhere next time. Not a bad hotel, but feel that there are probably more affordable options nearby if you are on a budget. However, if you have the means the hotel is a good place.

While it may seem as you are driving to this hotel that you are driving away from areas you may want to visit, once you’re in your room and look out the window you realise just how close you really are. Great location even though not connected to Tower City it’s still a Public Sq address. While the main entrance isn’t on the Square you can enter on foot through Key Center (where there is a Starbucks) which is on the Square.
My room (1012) was great. Good view of the Square and Terminal Tower. Clean. Spacious bath (ADA) with a great shower head. I liked the touch of reading lights on either side of the King bed. Three negatives: 1) warm fridge — maybe not plugged in. 2) the TV was centered in front of the bed and didn’t swivel towards the chair so you had to get up to get a good angel with the remote — chair was next to bed tho so TV was still viewable 3) slow draining bathtub
Go with valet parking it’s only $ 5 more than self-​park ($ 20v25). Or park in the casino self-​park lot if you don’t have a ton of luggage ($ 25 for 24hrs or free if you earn 15 Total Reward Tier Credits). The hotel valet was slow — I wanted my car at like 8pm on a Sunday night and it took them all of the quote 5 minute wait. If you have a flight to catch and are leaving at a popular time make sure to give yourself extra time.
The gym here is great. Much better than the nearby Ritz. There are incline/​flat benches and dumbbells along with a cable machine, Swiss exercises balls and of course cardio machines. There is a pool, which was surprisingly busy, and sauna located through the weight room.
