I’ve been looking for a good place to get some cuts of meat. While I’d prefer the West Side Market, I sometimes don’t want to deal with the crowds. I had driven by K&K many time and have been wanting to check it out. Planned on making pulled pork for a party we were hosting. I intended on using pork loin, but when I got there and told the fellas behind the counter, they suggest pork shoulder. It was actually cheaper and the cut of pork would be much for flavorful and easier to shred. Those guys seemed quite knowledgable, so I went with their suggestion. Pulled pork turned out amazing! They have lots of other cuts too, but didn’t have a chance to look around much!

Seems to be a bit of a hype, The store doesn’t seem very clean. It seems they have their favorite customers there and if your not with the in crowd you are kind of ignored. One morning I went in for a newspaper and I certainly didn’t score any points. I have another place that’s my favorite. It’s safe to say I won’t be back here.

K&K is our go-to meat market in Cleveland. Since day one they’ve always had exceptional staff which consists of a lot of high school students and college students on break. They have an incredibly friendly and helpful demeanor. Their meats and baked goods go above and beyond the average meat market due to the freshness and availability of so many items. I always find an excuse to stop on by even if it is to grab some of their famous smokies(mild and spicy). They are divine! We’ve had them cater on hundreds of occasions for small, intimate parties, to parties of over 100. Their timeliness, efficiency, and cost reflect well on the service they provide. Also, their presentation in terms of the food they cater is beautifully done. No wonder why they are always winning awards like«Best Butcher Shop»!

Bought wunder dogs for cookout on Memorial Day. Opened the package to cook and found I had 4 wunder dogs, 3 dogs of different brand/type, and ½ of a dog unknown type. Got to server to guests. Moral is that before you walk out of K & K make sure you got what you asked/paid for.

Great local butcher! I love coming here to get fresh good cuts of meat. The staff are very helpful and will make any accommodations you need. If you have questions they answers and suggestions if you are open to them. Great specials and always fresh items!!! Smokies are the great as well as the already home cooked foods. For meat cuts this saves me a trip to the west side market without any heistation.

Good butcher shop just south of 90 on Warren Road/W. 150th Street. Friendly staff and a varied selection of meat(especially sausages), seafood, deli and prepared foods — with a few other niceties like bakery items and to-order sandwiches. As many have noted, they have fantastic smokies, regular and spicy. They do some in-house sausages including the best chicken sausage I have ever had. Reminds me of some great old stores I shopped at when growing up in NY. Living far from K&K is tough since I moved from Lakewood, but I still make the trip to get my fix.

If sekanice, babka, cirak, paska, fried perch and walleye, pysanky, paczki, pierogi, boy’s sprinkling day, and blessing the food make you think of Easter you must be from Cleveland. From Orthodox church basements to the West Side Market seasonal foods appear year after year. I don’t think one is supposed to love Lent but I delight in all the customs, traditions, and foods. Located in an old strip mall that has more than the usual occupants, K & K Portage Market has a huge selection of red meats, much less poultry and far less seafood. Both Cleveland style city chicken and meatloaf mix are sold. The prepared foods are typical to any others but include some ethnic dishes. A small bakery, frozen prepared foods and an excellent selection of pickles, condiments, and canned goods complete the shopping experience. All products are selected for quality and the service lacks nothing. During lent home made sekanice, a rustic Bohemian terrine is sold. I rather eat cold slices of sekanice with Tony Paco’s pickles and peppers to the extravagant dinner Wolfgang served the Hollywood profligates after they awarded themselves. My award goes to sekanice from K & K Portage.

THEIRIN-STOREBAKEDBREAD.. . DELICIOUS ! A MUST-VISIT shop, yet it’s still disappointing when staff and owners of any restaurant or retail business make a really great first impression — friendly, smiling, helpful — but something we looked forward to enjoying, falls far below expectations. Based on word-of-mouth and their longevity(over 30 years), the two well-marbled boneless strip steaks I picked out(13.99 lb, two @ 18.00) were going to be the next best thing to Prime grade. They weren’t. Per the owner, they don’t carry«prime» meats, but offer«Chairman’s Reserve» Certified Premium Beef — just below prime, and in the top 30% of «choice» grade. That was fine. We knew enough not to expect the flavor and tenderness of prime, but were certainly expecting better-than-average«choice». Both were grilled over a charcoal fire to medium rare.(Never gas.) Dry, chewy, and nearly flavorless. No clean knife-cut — a strange stringy texture, at times horizontally-grained — like the drier, less-fatty sections on a pot roast. Similar to the occasional below-average choice strips we’ve had from GE.(Usually, GE’s choice beef cuts — Black Angus in particular — are«acceptable» enough for the money.) Possibly a rare exception to K&K’s normal«Chairman’s» quality, so may try again — but very unlikely. Maybe less expensive cuts next time, in their standard choice, if offered. After eating as much as we could before irritation levels exceeded our hunger, I pulled up the«Chairman’s Reserve» site just to see what they were all about. They also claim their steaks are well-trimmed. The ones we had, weren’t — even the sizeable inedible collagen tips were still attached. K&K received a seriously inferior shipment which their butchers should have caught — but it may have been other employees who unpacked, then placed in the meat display case. What I absolutely resent is that this supposedly respected Chairman’s operation passed off poor quality beef — lowest of choice grade — to one of their customers — but WE ended up paying for it. Without question, near the top of the worst steaks we’ve ever had from a restaurant or grocer. We ate not even half of each one, and the rest I cut up for dog food. BACON * * *. . thick-sliced, meaty; well-trimmed of fat; nice flavor WHITELOAFBREAD * * * * *. . their own brand… tender-fresh-delicious; equal to the best«artisan» styles from GE and Heinens; other loaf bread varieties, and buns; sweet bakery items, too. Look forward to trying other baked items here. STAFF * * * * *. . everyone especially friendly and helpful STORE * * * * *. . very clean; well-organized and well-displayed items; sampling of snacks, dry mixes in envelopes, various jarred mustards and sauces; nice variety of fruits and vegetables — all fresh-looking; overall, a wide assortment of different items in this inviting little market. .

This is a local gem. Friendly owners. Nice selection at the meat counter and a small variety of sides, frozen foods, sauces and wine. The bakery makes delicious bread. I’ll never eat regular hot dog buns again.

Sweet Meat! This place is great! It’s a local butcher, something kind of unique now-a-days. Great selection of meats and spices, and they always have great service. Everything is cut fresh and you can taste the difference in their quality and selection.

K&K, oh man. I’ve been going here all my life. Now, I’m not a big meat eater, but the butcher knows what he’s doing. I’ve been shopping here all my life(and I’ll readily show my friends this place), the butchers are so knowledgeable and engaging and everyone leaves happy. They also have awesome prepared foods and salads. I love the antipasta. This is some authentic Italian shizz. My favorite part of the store is the little bakery in the back. The doughnuts and various other desserts look awesome, but the best part is you can always get a warm loaf of bread, just packaged, right off the case. Yum yum yum. Oh, and every time I go their wine selection gets better and better! I recently found one of my favorite wines(Red Truck Cab) for under ten bucks.

The kielbasa here is good. It is one of my favorite purveyors of Polish sausage on the west side. The rest of the meats are of good quality, especially the steaks. The deli meats are also superior to most grocery store brands. If you are in the mood for meat, live in or around Lakewood, west side or Westpark, K & K Portage has some very good food for you.

K&K has fabulous meats, poultry, and the people that work there are super. Don’t forget to try their new line of seasonings like, Black Dog Belly Rub, Wow-a Chihuahua, Yellow Dog Sweet Shake. Really unique flavors.
