Rising Star Coffee Roasters

Until recently I had only been to the Ohio City location of this coffee shop. However, the other day I happened to notice that they had opened up a shop in the beautiful arcade building in downtown Cleveland. This is actually very convenient for me as it is on my way to work. So, the other morning I stopped in and found that, while a small location it offers the same high quality coffee that I enjoy at the Ohio City location. Being so convenient to anyone downtown for whatever reason and having such great coffee, the downtown Rising Star comes highly recommended from me. Another reason to come and enjoy downtown Cleveland!

Stopped in today and was the only customer. This place is hidden away on the Superior end of the Hyatt Arcade behind the massive post office. There’s an internal arcade entrance and Superior entrance.
Not as much seating as the other two locations (W29th St /​Hingetown and Little Italy) but there is window seating looking out on Superior. There’s also tables in the lower level of the Arcade which are up for grabs.
Really two friendly baristas chatted with me the whole time they made my drink. They have delicious bakery too; they had some really good molasses cookies on sample today.
To comment on an earlier review: There were hot water issues a few weeks after opening so pour overs and aeropress were not available, but that’s fixed now! I got an aeropressed coffee today and it was absolutely delicious right down to the last drop.

Delicious coffee and a very nice raw space in a location that needs some street life. How we the hot water wasn’t working today so the drip coffee options were limited. Also the place needs a little cleaning up: there was stuff all over the place — dishes, cups, flyers — that made it look a little sloppy.

This location is in the Hyatt Arcade.
The door to enter from the Arcade is a bit unwelcoming. I don’t remember why — maybe it was partially blocked by something? Anyway, it was enough for me to apologize for entering the wrong way, but I was told this was the correct entrance. They might want to do something about that.
The atmosphere/​menu were somewhat intimidating for me, the type of person who most frequently gets coffee from gas stations.
The people were nice, and my cardamom bomb was tasty. I could have used one of those cardboard cozy things to keep my hands from burning though.
