RTA – W25 Ohio City Station

Compared to other stations along the red line, this stations is pretty nice and modern. Sadly, it is below ground and out of other public view, there is often no security there, and thus the feeling of safety is at a minimum. Transit cops are pretty soft unless you have forgotten to purchase a ticket. Like most other commuter rail systems, it has its share of grungy looks and occasionally unappealing smells. I ride it nonetheless.

Closest train stop to my house and it takes ya to the airport. Zero parking so theres nowhere to leave your car. There hardly ever is someone working so use the machine to buy a ticket. And steer clear of the elevator… its full of bum piss!

When I lived in Cleveland, taking the Rapid Red Line was the easiest, most convenient way to get to the airport. I would either have one of my roommates drive me and my luggage to this station, or our neighbor (thanks, Paula!) would take us in her turquoise Saturn.
The station itself is pretty no-​nonsense. Although there are some overheard coverings, it’s pretty much exposed to the elements, and Cleveland has quite a few elements, so I imagine waiting here in the snow isn’t too much fun.
But I do like the dug-​out feel to the station and its proximity to the West Side Market.
In fact, I would give the station four stars if it didn’t remind me of such a horrible occurrence. I had an acquaintance in Cleveland who would eventually commit suicide. The last time I saw her, she was waiting for a train at this station. What really sticks in my mind is that she was so excited to be on her way to visit her family, and it was the happiest I had seen her in a while.
