Adirondack Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

I had a NYC-​based insurance company which was not accepted by many upstate NY oral surgeons. Eventually I landed on Adirondack who does take my insurance (1199SEIU). I had nothing but a positive experience at Adirondack, and that means a lot considering I had to have all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed in one surgery! Everyone from the receptionists to the nurses and techs were so kind and comforting. Dr Lynch was so professional, the surgery was over before I knew it. I was sent home with clear instructions, scripts for painkillers, and a followup appt. I had some bleeding that day and swelling over the next 2 – 3 days, but my pain was so minimal that I only took 1 or 2 pills TOTAL. I had a Friday afternoon surgery and was back to work on Tuesday. So happy with my surgery and recovery – thank you to everyone at Adirondack.

Fantastic surgery however think it’s ridiculous that an grown adult must have individual who’s giving ride due to sedation have to be present thru consultation and surgery. I can understand being present for recovery time At least they should inform you of this when making appointment !

I have to say I have never been treated so crappy in my life like I did at Adirondack oral surgery. The staff was great but, Dr. Chang was a man that prejudged me because I had diabetes and was on medications for it.
I had 8 teeth removed with no pain medication before or after. Even the nurse came in and made the comment «you didn’t use fentanyl for this surgery? Wow!»
When I told Dr. Chang that I was on a pain regimen for PVD and Neuropathy, and that I was afraid to have Tylenol toxicity he said; «I’m not writing you for anything anyway» not even an antibiotic so, now I’m swollen, hurting real bad and infected all because a Chinese liberal/​democrat didn’t want to treat the pain but rather prejudge the patient.
Think twice before you use this doctor. You can tell he came from the 5 boroughs or at least met Cuomo & Bloomberg once in his life.
I can only hope he or someone in his family has to experience the same pain or at least 10 times worse and gets a doctor like him to treat them.

So I got my two of my wisdom teeth removed on Friday. So I will update when the healing process is over in case they heal completely screwed up! So far so good.
So far I called on a Wednesday and got an appointment for that Friday (perfect no time to worry) I couldn’t eat for 8 hours, and needed a ride to wait in the waiting room for my entire procedure (only took about an hour and a half).
My insurance sucks so bad so I couldn’t afford to get all 3 out (apparently I’m 25% evolved). So they priced if I got 3 out vs just 2. which was nice so I could figure out what I wanted to pay for. So I figure I’ll go back and get the third one out later. Both the dentist and both of his assistants were extremely friendly, they made me feel comfortable, and didn’t even laugh at me when I had a melt down about getting a needle in my vein to go under.
I went under quickly, and woke up after and felt completely numb (yay!). a nurse came over and gave me the instructions to what I need to do for the next few days and asked if I wanted to go home.
So far its been two days and I feel very little pain, I was prescribed pain killers, ibuprofen and penicillin. I don’t even need the pain killers because there is very little pain, its starting to get a little swollen today but they warned me on the third day its the worst. So far this has been a quick, easy and successful surgery. I’ve heard from a lot of people that they didn’t get prescribed penicillin which seems silly because there’s a risk of dry socket and infection, this way I am still obviously concerned about dry socket but not of getting infected from it. Seems smarter to cover all your bases. I have another appointment to get checked on next Friday, I will update if something goes wrong, but so far this has been such a great experience, besides losing nuts and popcorn for 6 weeks, and not being able to exercise I could do this again.
