Very displeased with this place. I brought in a coupon from them that I had won in a raffle at TASTEOFCLIFTON and they told me they wouldn’t honor there own coupon!!! Terrible business sense. The food was a little above a fast food place such as McDonald’s. Come to think of it you even have to wait in line for your food like McDonald’s. So why pay more for the same thing???

Me and my longtime friend decided to try this place out for lunch & catch up when she visited … Was a disappointment to go here cuz the food was not good… Their ‘fresh’ cut fruit they have displayed went bad, end up exchanging it, but that one went bad too & eventually got refund. Food took a while too, don’t know y cuz there wasn’t that many ppl that day. Really wanted the café to do well, but they need to fix some things –food quality & hire add’l cook/help?

I’m trying my hardest to stand out from all of the other reviews, but I could honestly say that the other people have a good point. This place is absolute GARBAGE!!! If I could have given it less than 1 star, I would. Terrible food that comes with terrible service. When people think of a café, they think of coffee, coziness, a «home away from home» type atmosphere. I mean… Come on, the owners are from some village in egypt. Rude to the customers… With no sense of professional hospitality. Avoid this place, you’ll save your money wisely!!!

my wife checks the Unilocal rating for this place all the time. I keep telling her we should stop by and see for ourselves how the food is. she just texted me a recent review that someone got sick from eating here. I fear for my life now.

I met a friend there for lunch and we both ended up getting sick from the food. Other friends in the area have also gotten sick but that was a few months ago, and we were hoping it had gotten better. Our mistake! The place is always empty so I guess the food spoils. The owners are about as rude as you get and people in the neighborhood have reported that they sometimes do not pay their help and steal the tips. Probably the worst experience I’ve had in any café ever! Stay away if you value your health, don’t want to pay way more than you should for terrible food and want to be treated nicely. Yuck!!!

This place used to be Foodies To Go and it was great. I used to come with my dad Sunday mornings for breakfast and it was the best. We always ran into people that we knew. Now it’s a sorry excuse for a café. Terrible quality in food ingredients, they don’t even use fresh fruit for there smoothies, and there coffee is terrible. I miss the old local feeling of Foodies. Now it’s run by people that don’t know anyone in the neighborhood. Very sad!!! Do not waste your time!!!

Ordered a western omelet, they bought me a pastrami sandwich with no sides. I complained that I wanted a western omelet, the waitress came back and said that my sandwich was a western omelet. I rarely complain, but this time I was hungry and had to. I used to frequent this place in its previous incarnation, when one of my friends owned it and was much better.

I really wanted to like this place hoping they would be a replacement for Red Chimney, which I loved and really miss. Unfortunately, it is just not gonna happen. The burgers are ok, but just ok. The meat is fresh and so are the buns, but aside from that there is nothing particularly interesting or delicious about them. As such, you would think they’d take much less time to make. The real problem here however is that they get a D for effort. With the successful Allwood Diner within eyeline of their windows, they should be falling over backward to please and instead there is just a sense of slow-witted incompetence to the way the place is run. One example, they cooked and prepared my burger and set it on the counter within my view and THEN they started in on making the fries. I had asked for the fries to be «well done» but as both they and I could see my burger sitting there growing cold, they cooked the fries to a barely-done state to finally get my food out to me. I sent the fries back, and they did cook them more, but c’mon people, short-order cooking should not be so challenging. Something along these lines has happened each of the four or five times I’ve been in. I supposed I’d try them again in a pinch, but I would not go out of my way to get back there anytime soon.

Our office is local to Clifton and we are constantly looking for a better place than just an «Italian» place. This place looked clean, but the chicken Caesar wrap tasted like syrup and the French fries tasted like they were cooked with fish and I can say that because I worked at McDonalds. Step your standards up.

So there’s a new café in Clifton and since I was around, I figured I’d check it out. Pros: home-y feel to it cause of the brick wall and elegant city pictures on the wall and wooden chairs. I got a breakfast bagel and it good. I liked that they offer fried egg or scramble. Cons: Hence its called mikes café with a coffee mug as the logo. I ordered a small coffee and it was a bit too hot but overall taste was ok. Maybe needed some sugar but ok. I could say it was better than Dunkin donuts. What I thought weird was that there was a coffee machine behind the counter AND one in the middle of the room. Something different but the sign says coffee and decaf. Which means your selling an inferior product than the other options behind the counter. At least in my eyes. I’m just saying if you go to a café or coffee shop, you want an amazing cup of coffee. And at the perfect temp. Staff is friendly, menu is a little huge but they deliver. Café that delivers could be a game changer. I’ll admit. the pastries looked good but if I come back, I’ll try one and let you guys know.

If I could give no stars I would! First time there a few weeks ago I got myself a cappuccino. I wasn’t impressed but the staff was nice. Nothing fancy they just have«regular flavor» from what the girl behind the counter told me. Smh. Ordered through grub hub tonight. Said about 45−50min. Apparently from what the guy on the phone said is if you order grub hub your order gets pushed to the end of the line. Would explain why it took an hour and a half to get to me. I could’ve just picked it up if I knew that. I’m sick and didn’t want to leave the house. FINALLY got our food and dun dun dun! ICECOLD!!! Ordered a «crazy» burger(tasteless) and onion rings(soggy and cold) which I only got like 6 of those dinky frozen ones, and paid $ 3 for them. My boyfriend got a polo cordon blue panini which was SUPPOSED to come with fries! I paid extra for them and didn’t get them. His was ice cold too. Got an unsweetened iced tea and it’s basically just tinted water we couldn’t even fix it or anything wound up just dumping it out. When I called to complain the guy in the phone blamed it all on grub hub. That if I called the order in I wouldn’t got it in 20min. So basically saying my food can be done and delivered in 20min but because grub hip gives you a time frame of 45−50min for the order it’s ok to push that order to the back of the line?! What happened to making your customers happy, orders should be done in the order in which they come in. Don’t follow a stupid time frame. That’s not fair at all. So your saying an hour after I ordered say someone else ordered by phone, they get their food first?! How is that fair? That’s the most incredibly ridiculous lame ass excuse I have ever heard. So needless to say I will no longer be a patron of this establishment. First time ok maybe it was an off day. Maybe I’m just too picky. Obviously with café in the name your ass better know how to make a cappuccino delicious. I was a barista for a bit and let me tell you people would line up for my drinks. It’s not hard. But second time you mess up my food/drink I’m sorry I’m not spending my hard earned money on garbage.

I never write negative reviews as I prefer to just give credit where credit is due and simply choose not to return to places where I did not have a good experience at. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed with my visit to Mike’s Café, I felt that I needed to share my experience. I should have turned around as soon as I walked in. I opened the door and at the counter were two young girls just staring and giggling with each other. Once I got to the counter, no «hello, hi, how can I help you» just blank stares. Whatever, I thought. no biggie– I’ll just take a look at the menu. I ordered the veggie wrap to go as I’m a vegetarian and also try not to eat a lot of heavy bread. I was beyond starving as I had just finally returned home from a 2.5 hour commute. The veggie wrap, as listed on the menu, was to include: mixed greens, cucumbers, carrot, tomato, avocado, roasted red peppers and I ordered it in a plain wrap. I also asked for honey mustard on it which they said was fine. There were zero people in the place at 6pm and there seemed to be no one in the kitchen so I should have taken that as a sign. I ordered my wrap to go and took a seat. When it was ready, one of the girls brought it to me in a plastic bag tied twice at the top. Instead of sitting there trying to open it and take a look(my mistake) I took my food, confident my order would be fine since it was just one customer in the entire place, and I left, anxious to get home and eat. Once I got home I opened the bag and found, half of a half of a slice of pickle(seriously? Just don’t give me the pickle then, it looked like a piece of green spaghetti), and a a spinach wrap(not plain, as I ordered) with warm(?) broccoli, spinach leaves, and tomatoes. That;s it– just those 3 items. and warm? I checked the menu, there is nothing that even resembles that concoction listed so it wasn’t a simple input mistake. Listen, if you’re out of certain items and cant make what I ordered off the menu, just tell me. I’ll happily order something else and eat my food– I worked in the restaurant business before so I never make it a big issue and I would never be rude. This was super shady and they clearly didn’t want me looking at the food before I left by putting a double not on my bag. Wish I realized all of this but I was just too hungry. By the time I got home and realized what a failure this visit was, I was just too tired and hungry to go back and complain. so I had cereal for dinner. Great. Won’t be returning even though I live 2 minutes down the street. There are much better options around town– I prefer Allwood Diner or Hot Bagels Abroad.

My friend and I stopped here for what we thought would be a quick lunch break. We were mistaken. I ordered an egg salad sandwich, my friend a meat wrap. Not too complicated, right? I waited 20 min for my order, and finished eating it by the time my friend got hers 45MINLATER and had to get it to go. What the what? There’s 2 cooks in the kitchen… what’s the hold up? Also, I ordered my bread toasted, and it came more burnt to the point that one of the slices cracked in half. Meanwhile, we enjoyed a nice performance of the waitress and manager blatantly arguing by the register. Fun. By the way, larger plates would also be helpful. Makes it hard to enjoy when the food is crammed on a small dish. The food otherwise was ok, but not worth the wait. I know this place is new, but they need to step up their game.

Horrible service, small portions and beyond over priced for what u pay. Not to mention it is December 2014 and there wasn’t even heat in the place for my children. I had to ask for the heat to be put on. They barely used one egg when I ordered eggs!!! omg never coming back, I should have just stuck with Allwood diner!!!
