New management is making a big difference. Food was very good and service was very friendly and fast.

Great food but terrible service. Don’t even bother to come here on the weekend. The waitress will mess up your order and overcharge you for everything. On a positive note good is delicious

The place looks good and the belly dancers was attractive. However she came our for half hour only and the rest was a bunch of songs. The service was bad even though desert was on the house. The hookah is really good

It is ok. 1) Very expensive hookah and food. 2) The food is not the best. 3) But I did enjoy the belly dancer they had.

I went to Sultan for a Tuesday night Hookah catch-up session with a friend of mine who I haven’t seen in awhile and it was perfect. We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated upstairs. The ambiance was really chill and a gave you the perfect setting to enjoy a nice talk with your friend while smoking some Hookah. Some things that added to the setting were that the flat screens placed around the whole area playing Arabic music which was pretty cool + and the cushioned benches. As for the Hookah — we smoked a sour apple flavor — I don’t really smoke too often so I wouldn’t know how to review it — but if it counts at all I thought it was pretty good. Note: They have a mini parking lot right behind of the restaurant.

The best middle eastern food i’ve had in the area. We’ve tried a lotta restaurants in this category, but this is hands down the best in taste. Their meat arryes, shish kebab, baba ganoush and hummus are the best! Luv this place

There is parking on the lot; there’s also a belly dancer and hookah. I sat outside and loved it except that there’s hookah everywhere. There is a live singer who can sing for real. The food was outstanding! I ordered a salad that had artichokes in it, the hummus was very good, and my chicken entrée was delicious. Dessert was nice with mint tea. I’m surprised there’s not five stars for this place. Definitely to go back again.

Went their with family Friday evening to do Iftar Ramadani, it was the worst experience ever, got their around 7:45 pm sat outside to realize only one table right across from us eating food already, which is in a way is fine. 10 minutes later a couple came in and sat with the same table, talking Arabic, after talking to the manager, right away he pulled a bottle of wine and ordered waitress to open it and started drinking with his company 30 minutes before Iftar and music started playing, my wife, my kids and I were shocked these guys and manager has no respect for all other tables, about 20 tables their which were waiting for Iftar. I could not believe that Arabic guys regardless of their religion and background or where they come from, will insult about 20 tables and Mr manager was laughing with them instead of telling them at least please delay opening wine bottle till after Iftar. When it comes to food and desert, it was ok except that if a dish gets empty does not get replaced you out of luck brother. Service sucks I will never come back.

The worst place and food I ever had on my life. I hope every body know to make sure this place it’s disgusting I went in Ramadan month to eat it was really bad food. I throw up all what eat. It was too much pain in my stomach. Because of this food. Plus bad services. And it’s expensive I don’t know for what no main dishes to eat in this buffet. It’s just an appetizer. It was really bad services and no organization.

Wow. Went here for the first time today and I am VERY upset. I was treated like garbage by the staff, despite how polite and understanding I was. They were so inattentive, causing my friend and I to be stuck there for 3 hours. Upon numerous requests, we finally got a water refill. After walking downstairs twice, we received boxes for our leftovers. Took about 1.5 hours to get more coal. After very NICELY and QUIETLY complaining to the front desk people downstairs, WE were yelled at and treated like trash. I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment… I will NEVER go here again. Jesus Christ. Stay away.

I came in very late with friends, the parking situation was good, in fact we parked right in front of the steps leading into the restaurant. Walked in and sat down, great décor, good lighting, set a nice relaxed mood. Took a booth by the windows. Waitress was polite, welcoming, and accommodating. We ordered salad, hummus, tea, and they were excellent. I ordered lemonade, hoping it would be fresh because I asked the waitress if it was fresh, she said yes it was, so I tried it and it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t fresh either. How do I know? I saw the lemonade mix behind the counter on a shelf towards the floor, it was in plain view of us lol. The drink itself was also ridiculously sweet. I could be wrong though. But overall had a good experience with them. Maybe I’d come back again.

I had heard great things about this place and wanted to try it. I go to all the other hookah bars in the area and decided to check this place out last Saturday around 9pm because La Ziza was full. Unfortunately, due to my experience with the staff I never even got to try it. I have honestly never dealt with a staff that was so unaccommodating. So my friend and I go there and see a wedding party in the first floor. I ask the valet if it’s open to the public tonight and he replied that it was and there were open seats upstairs. Great– we valet the car and go inside. We go upstairs and the place is almost completely empty, there was one table with people on the side of the stair case and another table in the back. We approach who I assume was the manager and a waitress and we tell them table for two and the manager. We have no reservation and we tell them that. The manager said that’s fine and seats us at a table. We take off our coats and start looking at the menu deciding which hookah we want. The same server(I didn’t catch her name) who just spoke to us with the manager came to the table and asked again if we had reservations. I told her no, we just told them we didn’t. Then she said that because there was a performer that night we would have to pay $ 55 each to sit there which was never mentioned when we asked the valet or when we walked in. We told her we didn’t want to eat that much– just wanted a few appetizers, hookah and some wine. Then she said we can only stay there if we want to finish in less than an hour. Umm. both her and the manager JUST sat us, shouldn’t they have mentioned that in the first place? The whole interaction was just bizarre– the waitress had attitude and didn’t seem to want to even help us and was not really willing to give us other options besides eating + hookah in under an hour. I understand that they had a performer there that night, but they could have been more pleasant explaining that before we sat down and at least attempted to be accommodating. After that, I told the waitress we would take our business elsewhere and went to Kamil’s where they were happy to accommodate us! In addition to this, the ambiance looks extremely dated and the menus were dirty. If you’re looking for a fun time go to la ziza(make reservations) or for better food/service go to kamil’s

Expensive for an OK hookah and crappy food. Sat outside for lunch on a nice, sunny afternoon. Service was not good. Our hookahs came about 10 minutes after we ordered. Our food didn’t come for another half hour or so. Napkins were not provided. They were very slow with coal changes. Food was not good. I wanted some shawarma, but they did not have lamb. Got the beef in sandwich form. It didn’t even seem to be in a pita, more like a tortilla. Very understuffed too. Total bill for two hookahs and two entrees was $ 60. Ridiculously overpriced for bad food and service.

The food is average. The service is horrible. The staff was very on unenthusiastic. they are very slow to attend to the table, you would you l have to wait hours and hours to get someone to come and ask you for your order(we were there only one in the restaurant) Save yourself the trip Drive five more minutes and go to any other Middle Eastern restaurant around the neighborhood like alBasha The only plus side is they have parking in the back

Racist restaurant we shouldn’t support. Went there with fellow foodie @sameerseats and got mediocre food & even worse service. Never got water we asked for. Sugar container lid was open and it all poured into Sameer’s tea. Asked for heater as it was a bit chilly(sitting outside). Manager said they weren’t being used. A table of Arab men came by and a heater was turned on for them. A while later an Arab man seated by himself was also given a heater. Apparently brown people aren’t good enough to provide heat to. If you want a better dining experience go to any other place in Paterson besides Sultans.

Too expensive for just okay hookah, the service is also not very good. Last time I went they had live music, and after we got our hookah and food brought to the table they told us they were charging us 10 bucks a person for live music. Well if you told me that in the first place, I would have left, I felt scammed. It took forever to get coals too, if you are busy maybe you should have more than one person doing the coals. The parking also sucks. Not going back.

Sultan is an unusual restaurant for the regular diner but here’s some background you should know. Some reviews here complain about the service, but in reality think of this, how long does it take to wrap each stuffed grape you’re served? Think that the desert he serves is first made from scratch into a pancake, stuffed with walnuts and sealed and shut then fried, the syrup is also a production. If you have ever cooked any of these dishes with your grandmother as a kid, you know how much hard work goes into these and you’d understand why he serves food like your grandmother does, it’s good, eat, and pass me the water please. It’s not the place where you want the waiter to pass by every five minutes and say«how are you finding everything» most likely because you’re so overjoyed with the food your mouth is stuffed. So, if you’re from the levant, this place feels like home, if not, approach it with an open mind and it can be wonderful. Also, the hookah is made of a fresh grapefruit which is just amazing.
