Comfort Inn at Joint Base Andrews

I had the worst customer service ever from a manager at this hotel. I booked the room for a disabled client. I explained to the person on the phone that I needed a wheelchair accessible room. I was assured that it was… we get there and it wasn’t. The manager didn’t believe me when I told him that his employee told me that the room was handicapped accessible. He never offered an apology and when I complained he hung up on me. The manager also refused to give me his name. Awful experience!!!

This by far was the best hotel near Andrews AFB, MD!!! I viewed rooms at Country Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn on Mercedes Blvd off of Auth Road. Holiday Inn was NASTY!!! I viewed three of their rooms and they reeked with a mildew smell. Country Inn & Suites had old décor but a step above Holiday Inn. Comfort Inn served free continental breakfast with turkey sausage and eggs. For dinner, they served BBQ sandwiches one night, Papa Johns pizza, and I cannot remember the other meals. Customer service was phenomenal! I am so glad I stayed here. I checked the room for bed bugs and they passed with no evidence of them! They even placed bed covers on the mattress to prevent them. The free cookies in the afternoon was a nice bonus too!!!

Bottom line:
1) You pay for services this hotel can’t, or isn’t willing to provide;
2) The manager and his staff are very rude and unprofessional;
3) There’s obviously a daily lottery for room cleaning and trash removal. You’re lucky if you get selected!
4) Hotel in need of renovation;
5) Breakfast items that aren’t eaten (boiled eggs/​danish/​muffins) are put back out the next day, and the next, and the next…
We checked into this hotel for a week and had the most disappointing experience ever – even after the check out.
Evening 1: Checked in; all seemed to be well… until the next morning.
Day 2: Housekeeper came early in the morning; we asked her to return a little later. As we exited the room around 11am, she was waiting in the hall then yelled to her coworker at the other end of the corridor «They FINALLY came out!» Very professional.
Day 3: Left the room at 9am. Returned at 7pm – room had not been serviced at all. Called the front desk and the clerk said there was nothing that could be done because the housekeeping staff was gone for the day. I requested fresh towels and he said «sure.» However, he never brought them. Husband went to the desk an hour later and clerk was at the desk ‘napping’.
Day 4: Left the room at 10am. Returned at 9pm – room had not been serviced! We were in disbelief! Because of the previous night, I piled all trash in one spot and put all towels in one pile to make it easier for the staff. Everything was still piled as I left them. Called the front desk and the clerk said everyone was gone and he couldn’t leave the desk so if I wanted fresh towels (which was the most he could offer), I’d have to come to the desk to retrieve them.
Day 5: As we left the hotel, my husband stopped at the front desk and spoke with the housekeeping supervisor. Rather than being shocked or appalled at her staff’s lack of service, she acted as if he was an inconvenience for interrupting her conversation with the desk clerk. None-​the-​less, he informed her of our lack of service and requested that the room be serviced prior to our return. Can you imagine the look on our faces when we returned at 7pm and everything was just as we left it??? I called the front desk and demanded a new room then called Choice Hotels Customer Relations!
Day 6: Customer relations rep called the manager (while I was on hold) then informed me that the manager was going to go to the room to speak with my husband. This never occurred just the same as he never called on the previous days.
Day 7: Housekeeping staff come to room (with lots of attitude and sarcasm). We asked them to take the trash and just simply leave new towels on the counter.
Day 8: Checked out of the hotel from hell!
Called back to Choice Customer Relations regarding my experience; they advised that the manager would call me within 72 hours. The manager called the next day to argue «I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU CALLED THEM BECAUSE THIS WAS RESOLVED. I SPOKE TO YOUR HUSBAND WHEN HE STOPPED BY THE FRONT DESK!» I explained that my husband never stopped by the front desk so perhaps it was another couple with similar complaints that he spoke with. The rude manager insisted that yes it was MY husband that he spoke with so there’s nothing else he could do. I was in total dismay…
My last step was to call
. Since the week was booked through them, I wanted them to be aware of the service their partnering hotel provided. The Priceline Rep called the hotel to request a 25% refund to compensate for my inconvenience (I did not request this but Priceline thought this was the least that I should receive). The manager «Dave» told the Priceline Rep that there was nothing he could do. He actually told the rep «the housekeeper is old and simply couldn’t get to all of the rooms.» What in the world???

Friendly staff. Standard inn atmosphere. You have a dinky little gym on the first floor. Also a community kitchen is available on the 1^st floor. Rooms are standard… Microwave, fridge, blow dryer, coffee maker, and TV (HBO available). Shampoo, shower cap, lotion, and body bar soap provided. Ladies — bring your own conditioner. I did not bother asking the front desk if they had any… I usually bring my own anyways. 2^nd floor has a weird smell that I can only think of as body odor + moth balls + mold. Not overwhelming but it is there.
Walls are crazy thin. I can hear my neighbor clear his throat and every morning I hear the housekeeper knocking a few doors down while yelling «housekeeping!»
Free continental breakfast 06 – 10 to include scrambled eggs, sausages, hard boiled eggs in fridge, bagels, muffins, toast, cold and hot make-​yourself cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, and waffle maker. By the time you get down at 09, most of the eggs and sausages are gone and they don’t add more.
No pool. Laundry machines available on 2^nd floor. Bring quarters… $ 1.50 to wash and $ 1.50 to dry. About 3 sets of machines available. Pet friendly.
Internet is slow, slow, slow. Room card key stops working every day after the morning. A little annoying. Happened to almost everyone in my group. Not sure why it does it. There goes another star taken away.
Had a little scare with a house centipede on my curtain while I was showering. Look it up… I jumped out of the shower when I saw that big fella. Not sure how it got on my shower curtain. I only saw one. I hope they don’t have an infestation of them.

Not bad, but truly leaves a lot to be desired. Friendly staff, clean-​ish rooms. Crummy breakfast/​breakfast area is too small. My air conditioner really didn’t cut it at all. Said it was 60 degrees in my room, felt closer to 80 (I was on the third floor). I wouldn’t stay here again because of the AC, breakfast, and slightly dirty bathrooms (you gotta get in the corners! Gross!!). I’ve seen much worse, but for the rate I paid, meh. Still wouldn’t stay again.

Internet is bad and basically nonexistent. I realize it’s the Comfort Inn and not the Ritz but internet is pretty standard these days. Everything else is mediocre but the poor quality if the internet coupled with the lack of interest to fix the problem is why this place gets such a low rating from me.

The reservation for my one night stay had been made a whole month in advance so my check in should have been no surprise. I arrived at the hotel at 5:30 (significantly after the 3:00 check in time) and my room was nowhere near ready. I was told my room should be ready in 30 minutes; not the case. I waited in that lobby for 85 minutes before I was given a room, which was not even the room I wasted all that time waiting for. Why didn’t the desk clerk just switch me to another room in the first place!!! And what does she offer as compensation? A blasted cookie! Really??? Unfortunately that experience negated anything good I could’ve ever noticed or experienced at this hotel. In the future, I’m avoiding it like the plague.

When we first came to Andrews this is where we stayed. The staff was amazing the manager gave us a free upgrade when she realized we would be staying for awhile. They also provided free breakfast and sometime free dinner. The parking lot was gated and the rooms were very clean!

Best option for business traveler or person visiting family in Clinton, Camp Springs, or surrounding area. Always clean, well-​managed, with friendly staff. Great make-​your own waffles (among other items) at breakfast! All night security in parking lot. Visitors to Joint Base Andrews are primary clientele. Recently upgraded rooms. I have stayed here multiple times and have recommended this place to others as well.

I like this hotel. The room was clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly and the free breakfast wasn’t bad. I stayed here for two nights and would return when in the area.

It’s a Comfort Inn, not a Ritz. But having said that, it is a perfectly clean, quiet place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was better and cheaper (free) than what you might get at a place paying 2 – 3 times as much.
