I’ve been going to southward tire and auto for nearly 15 years and have consistently received excellent customer service. Julie got me out of a jam today again! When I have had my cars repaired, Paul and Julie have always been willing to work with me to find the Mose economical solution to my problems. They have helped me with inexpensive repairers as well as recommending top of the line tires when I needed reliability over the long term. This is a local business that looks out for their customers.

Paul and Julie run a good shop. They have always taken time to explain repairs needed. Honest and friendly and have always been accommodating. Good selection of tires also.

Juli and Paul are the best in the business, and I know Luis has been there over 15 years because I have been going there now since about 1993 or 1994 when I got my second car (first car from a dealer).
I was young and pealed out with my tires until I had to pay for my first set. Ha ha
Paul fixed me right up and gave me a great price in my budget.
I have been going to then over the years for my tires and also Luis has been the mechanic on my car since that time also.
Moved away for three years but came right back to them for all my car needs.
And Luis is handy as a pocket on a shirt! I have had some wears things go wrong and he has been able to figure out what the trouble was!
Please go see them for any problem and see if they can help you!

If I could give a minus rating, I would. Our tire had a screw in it and we were stranded in Cloverdale for the night. A store clerk recommended Southards. We were in the parking lot, waiting for them to open up the next morning and a lady and man drive up. We ask if they can look at the tire today and she, very rudely, tells us «not to bother him. He is too busy to help you. Just use your smartphone to find someone to help in the next town about 30 miles from here.» He doesn’t say anything to us… just goes in the store and locks the door behind him. WOW! I was shocked at the rudeness of the reply. We have travelled extensively and I can honestly say we have never encountered such flagrant rudeness. This store advertises «honesty in service and repair.» Well, I «honestly» hope you don’t need assistance from them. Here’s a note for Southards: if you can’t practice compassion, then practice diplomacy in response. Remember that you may be out of town and need help one day yourself. How about that for honesty?

Worst place ever. If you want your tire to fly off going Down road from lack of tightening lug nuts. totally disrespectful male owner won’t take responsibility for his actions gets hostile then threatens to call police to get off his property so he won’t have to fix his mess up. never been so disrespected like this before. I would not recommend anybody to go here. -***** had to leave a star for writing review but — stars place is a joke! Don’t go here!

Dodged a big bullet today, thanks to the brilliant Mr. Luis and his boss Juli at Southard Tire and Auto Center. I have a 1998 Nissan Sentra, which I bought new but is now 16 years old and has 134K miles on it.
There’s this thing called the timing chain tensioner. If it goes, the timing chain could come apart *while driving* and blow my engine. It had deep gouges in the metal; my timing chain did that. I’ve heard rough engine noise for a year or more, plus a weird clicking sound when I slowed to a stop; several mechanics have test driven it and not once mentioned the rough sound or that it could be serious. No one could figure out the clicking sound, but one said not to worry about it.
This new-​to-​me mechanic, Mr. Luis, who is brilliant I know now, looked closer and zeroed in on this little part. At first he thought it might be the one on the lower timing chain, which would have cost $ 1200+ to repair since he’d have to take apart the engine. Then he had another thought: for the price of a $ 49 diagnosis, he could take off the valve cover (easy) and from there he could see both timing chains and tensioners/​guides.
He found it was the top one that was going bad, not the bottom one, which cost closer to $ 400 (he said it was so bad I shouldn’t drive it much at all till it was fixed). Had the part replaced today; purrs like a kitten now — and it might have fixed the clicking sound too.
I felt like Juli and Mr. Luis were on my side every step of the way. So when I brought the car in this morning I also brought donuts for Mr. Luis and the whole crew, and my loyalty for life (or for as long as I’m in Cloverdale, California)!

I’ve bought tires from Southard Tire for probably 20 years now. Their tire recommendations have always been excellent, service has been quick, and prices are competitive. I also also get my car serviced there and appreciate their honest recommendations. Juli, Paul, and Luis are a delight to work with!

I can’t believe this place only has 3 stars. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! My boyfriend and I have lived in California for two years now and have only ever gone to Southard for all of our auto needs. Paul and Julie have always gone above and beyond to help us out of whatever bind we were in. They did several workups on our 2000 Ford Focus, squeezed us in for appointments that met our busy schedules, and all the work was done fast and at fair prices. After a wreck, we went in asking for a recommendation on a place that could look at our bent wheel well. Paul came out to take a look at it and said it was such an easy fix that he’d just take care of it for us. He fixed it right there in the parking lot and didn’t charge us a dime :) We took the Focus to them after a break down, only to later find out it was toast, and they refunded all the parts they had put into it so we only were charged labor. Not only is their work great, but they’re extremely good, helpful people. While shopping for a new car, we called several times asking for opinions on prospective used car purchases, and they were always happy to tell us exactly what they thought we should steer clear of, and with their advice, we now have a car that we adore. We would never dream of taking our precious Subaru anywhere else, and if you love your car, bring it to Southard! They’ll take good care of you: D
