A & R Appliance Repair

I wish AHS would stop using this company. I recently called on behalf of my 86 year old grandmother. She has been dealing with these people for over a month, and last week while they were out to fix her oven safety valve no less, the repairman left the gas on. My grandmother woke up in the middle of the night smelling gas and feeling light headed. Pge had to come and shut her gas off. I called AHS and they were able to get these jokers to go back out sooner than the week they were going to make her wait originally. Apparently this numbskull office manager didn’t tell the guys she sent out what they were to fix so they showed up with the wrong equipment. I called their office the next day and explained the situation and why I felt like they should be rushing to correct their error, since my grandmother could’ve died. This bitch tells me if I am so concerned with my grandmother being cold because the gas is turned off in her home, then I should buy her an electric blanket. Janet or whatever your name is, you are just an office manager and a poor one at that, it’s time to get off your high horse and learn some customer service skills. I’m sorry this is probably the best job your education has alloted you, but maybe you should try some compassion and get some education on what skills a manager is supposed to possess. One star for the two new guys sent out. It’s not their fault they were misinformed.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! This company was assigned through my home warranty to assess why my dishwasher will not turn on. They were prompt with setting an appointment, arriving on time and finding out what was needed. That is the only positive reviews I can give. I am now going on one month waiting for a part so that my dishwasher can be fixed. Their status shows the part should have been in on Dec. 16 and it is now 2 weeks later with no updates. The Tech manager Ron (also the owner) has not returned any of my calls and refuses to take my call even when in the office. So, if you get to choose a company to repair your appliances DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT enlist this company for your repairs. I will be taking this issue to the Better Business Bureau and will seek out other ways to get a resolution as well as warn other consumers.

This company is an absolute joke. Rude and so unprofessional! Janet is apparently «owner» and I literally cannot believe they are in business. She is absolutely awful. Ended up hanging up on me which seems to be pretty common after reading the reviews!!! We have been needing our microwave fixed and because of «dispatcher» communication errors 3 months later it is still not fixed. I would literally go and buy a «how to fix appliances book for dummies» before I used this company!

I have never in my life dealt with such POOR customer service. This is the first time I am ever complaining about a appliance company. The officer manager JANET is absolutely unprofessional in every way you can even imagine. Look at all the posts already about her on Unilocal!She is rude, egocentric, called my husband a jerk, hung up on me and my husband. They were hired by our home owners insurance and I am pushing for them to never do Business with them. I am a mother of 2 young children, a full time professional and have been without a washing machine for 7 weeks due to these people and their incompetence. absolutely horrible customer service. Beware of them! I give them ZERO stars!!!

If I could give a minus, I would! What a piece of work these people are and what a whore Janet, the office manager is. She has no respect for customers. I have the misfortune of getting them through First American Home Buyers Protection and they didn’t fix my refrigerator for two months now. They now they told FAHBP that they fixed everything, when they didn’t do anything or replace any COVERED parts. When I called A&R to find out what’s going on, she refuses to listen to me and starts to bitching at me, the customer! Then when I told she has no right to speak to customer like that, she tells me she’s been having a bad day and she doesn’t want to hear me. I said «why is that my problem, who do you think you are?» she says «I tell you who I think I am» and hung up.
Stay away from these crooks. I see I am not the only one, since they have ONE star in their rating.
People pay attention to these ratings otherwise you’ll be as frustrated as me!

Wish I would have checked Unilocal before AHS scheduled them to come fix our front loading washing machine. It is making a clunking noise when spinning. The technician did not hear clunking but said it needs a new control board. Odd. He left the washer half full of water, sopping wet towels in the sink, and two screws were found on the floor. After 11 days he returns-​with the wrong part. Going into the laundry room after his departure, he has left the washer and dryer pushed out in the middle of the room and unplugged.
I placed a call to A&R as I wanted to request another technician for the next visit. «Janet» answered and when I asked to speak with the owner or manager, she said she was the office manager. I said I was hoping to speak to someone with a higher authority. She preceded to interrupt me in a loud voice, saying «Excuse me but I have full authority!» Before she continued on I did interrupt her, «saying excuse me». And was going to give her my name and the reason for my call. She loudly said «Goodby!» And hung up on me. Needless to say I was shocked.
My husband called back and spoke with her about the problems. She asked if this was the number to call back. He said «yes but you will be speaking with my wife and I would appreciate it if you would not hang up on her.» Her reply was” if she doesn’t belittle me”. Since when is asking to speak with someone with more authority belittling? She then said «I can go head to head with you and trade shots. But I also can not order your part.» At that point my husband did hang up.
Never have had such an experience with a company of any kind!

Horrible customer service!!! We bought a refrigerator from this company and it was not working correctly. They came out to repair it four times and still could not fix it. Instead of refunding us and honoring their warranty they ignored our calls and avoided us until it was out of warranty. Disputed the money paid monthly with the bank and they changed the name on how they collected the money so they could go around the stopped payment. Paid $ 600 for a lemon! This place gets a negative 5 stars!!!

This is an extremely unprofessional company which i would give –5 stars. I have been waiting 2 weeks to get a fuse replaced on my washing machine. After finally getting me on the schedule for repair, they call an hour prior to the technician’s arrival time to say that he had an emergency and couldn’t make it. Furthermore their other technician could not make it either. The office manager JANET was rude and started cutting me off when i was trying to inquire if there’s a way they could make it out as I’m scheduled for work tomorrow and already took today off to be here. I would not recommend using them and would go with another company but home depot is covering the repair and they do not want to start over at this time. I hope they never use them again.

Wow where do I start. This is a very ghetto company that does not keep appointments does not communicate with customers and does not care about customer service. Do not get any one from this company to come out they do not know what they are doing Save your money

This company gets a negative star. BEWARE homeowners!!!
I used this company to repair my refrigerator water dispenser. They royally screwed up the repair and for 2 weeks following their visit and replacement of the leaking part, we learned the technicians did a botched job and our frig continued to leak after we turned the water back on to the frig.
How did we figure this out? Water was leaking into the walls and an adjoining room causing potentially harmful black mold and over 30k worth of water damage to our kitchen and spare room.
When I called them to evaluate the damage the technicians tried to trick me into signing a release of liability. Ummmm no thanks, you flooded my house. Then when I would call they yelled at me and blamed me for the leak and refused responsibility. I had no choice but to file a claim with My HOI. This place is aweful. I am surprised my home warranty American Home Shield recommended them because they screwed up my house.
To date my house is still under repair and it’s been 5 months.
Do not use this company. EVER! I hope you read this A&R. I hope you realize how many families you have screwed over by your shitty service.

The worst place ever so disrespectful and unprofessional ! Owner was rude and my mother waited four hours and they never came even when we had an appt they blamed it us for not answering the phone ! I already waited a month for the part that I had to contact them for! I complained to Sears and told them to fire them !!! Who gets treated so bad for service your going to pay for ! Don’t go here it’s pretty bad !

This company lacks respect, professionalism and integrity. They will NEVER get my business again.
Prior to setting up my service call with the receptionist, I asked if they serviced the brand of appliance I had. I was told that they did. They gave me a 5 hour window that the tech would be by the following day to perform a diagnostic. After 5 hours of altering my schedule to stay home and wait for the tech to arrive, 1 hour of him disassembling the appliance, diagnosing the problem and assuring me that a quote would be given to me the following business day and the repair could be made.
I scheduled an unpaid day off from work to be home for the repair. I received a call from the technician the day the repair was to be performed and was told that they don’t service the appliance I had.
I called the office to speak with a manager to lodge a complaint. After explaining the scenario, which he was already familiar with, he tried to place the blame on me for not disclosing the brand and model prior to the tech coming out. I explained that at no point was I asked if I had this specific model of appliance, I was only asked the brand… Last time I checked, they were supposed to be the experts, not me. He insisted that he was next to his receptionist when she took my call, and that she asked specifically if I had this make and model. This was a lie on his part. Then he proceeded to insult me for making a complaint and wasting HIS time… I should’ve been so lucky to only have 5 minutes of my time wasted, instead I had a day and a half of mine wasted and now have to start from square one.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

The company was a member of the BBB, so I thought they were credible. After calling around town I found it was standard to offer a partial credit for the visit fee towards future repair. After paying $ 65 to have the technician come out to diagnose our washing machine stopping he quickly said we needed an entirely new main controller board for over $ 200. We reluctantly agreed and asked about the $ 35 credit we’d receive towards the part. The technician knew nothing about it as he was a sub contractor and referred us to the main company number.
The company denied they ever offered a credit towards repairs, asked for the manager/​owner to call us back. After several days and no replies we tried again and got a very abrasive owners-​wife who said we were wasting her time. Upon getting such a reaction we got a second opinion from another local company. They found that our water lines were clogged with sand/​debris and after only a few minutes of cleaning the machine worked just fine (and still does!)
Left a voicemail for A&R over the weekend to tell them the problem they diagnosed it with was incorrect and we would not be pursuing repairs or future work with them. The wife called back and yelled and literally screamed at me that I was liable for 20% of the part cost because they now had to go return it. There was no speaking with her, disconnected the call and never heard from them again (thankfully). Hoping this helps someone else.

read my experience below… BUYER BEWARE!!!
Bad scheduling, poor diagnostics of issue, additional damage created by repairman, unprofessional customer service by staff and owner. Assurant Solutions/​Service Protection Advantage, warranty provider, was contacted by my wife on Thursday June 12 for a squeaking noise in GE gas dryer model #DBVH512GFWW, service was scheduled for Saturday June 14. I was contacted on June 13 by A&R Appliances that they do not work on Saturdays. Repair was scheduled for Tuesday June 17. Two repairmen came out, but did not repair but determined glides were needed. At that point I was told we could continue to use dryer, no problem but they had me initial a form and I was told it was to release liability for gas related issues. Thinking they were reputable, I did not question them too much or read the fine print. Later that evening when my wife went to use the dryer, the temp set dial would only allow for «timed dry» only. This was never an issue before they had inspected the dryer. My wife called Assurant the next morning to notify them of issue. A&R never contacted us on when the part was coming in and when my wife called A&R the receptionist was rude and unprofessional. Later that week A&R scheduled to come out on Tuesday June 24. Again two repairmen arrived, I’m assuming they were the same, but they never presented my wife with a business card. My wife made them aware it was only working on timed dry setting. After taking apart the dryer and installing parts, the squeak was still there, obviously misdiagnosed. This time however when they put the dryer back together, «timed dry» didn’t even work, only «air fluff» (no heat) basically no drying capability. Janet from A&R left my wife a voice mail stating «The board that was needed was no longer available and they couldn’t locate the part and neither could the warranty company. She stated the warranty company was going to offer us a buy out on the unit and if there were any questions to contact her, Janet, the office manager.» My wife called Corey, with Assurant, to find out what was going on with the repair. Corey stated that they would offer us $ 399. This would leave us with $ 300-​$ 400 out-​of-​pocket expense to replace a dryer that was operational prior to A&R damaging the dryer. My wife expressed her concerns that the dryer was working prior to A&R working on it. He did look back at all documentation and there was no service call related to dial not operational. After talking to him he said it would be good to talk to A&R as they may have liability insurance to cover the difference. At that point, my wife called A&R and requested to talk to Janet, as she requested. My wife was told that she was in a meeting. My wife tried her back a few hours later and she was still in a meeting, so she did not leave a message as Janet told her previously to «Contact her». When she finally got back to my wife, she said she was in a meeting with Assurant. My wife responded «About my dryer?». Janet made excuses for their work and that these parts could get brittle. She also said that the warranty company wants them to «Do the cheapest repair.» Corey had earlier stated to my that A&R should be performing a full diagnostic. My wife stated to Janet «Somebody is not telling me the truth.» From then on, Janet was very rude and defensive. My wife said «I’m the customer, you shouldn’t be talking to me like that». Janet said «Not anymore!» In the background my wife could hear the owner of the company saying «Just hang up on her!» Then Janet handed the phone to him, his name she believes was Ron. He said he had a copy of the document I signed on the first visit that released his company from any repair liability. This was the document that his employee told me it was for release of gas, that it was the standard form on gas dryer repair. It’s obvious now that they knew they had damaged the dryer and were instructed by their owner to lie to me for my signature. My wife said «Is this the way you run your business.» As a business, should he not have liability insurance?
