Business Owner

Doug, the owner, operated several pubs/​restaurants in New York City, Boston and Los Angeles during the 80′ & 90’s. He moved to Cold Spring in 2001 and opened DPGP in 2014. His visceral sense of what a good pub should be has transformed the old «corner gin mill» into a Damn good pub with Damn good food. Clean, fresh and friendly. Getting better every day!

Staying in Cold Spring for the weekend and loved the burger and Inn keeper Doug. Friendly and helpful and we saw a great Bluegrass band here too, Two Dollar Goat.

Pretty good? No. It’s amazing! We came to the pub after hiking break neck. We had two burgers and beers (don’t think I breathed between bites.) burgers are served on English muffins. Simply delicious! Great atmosphere and laid back vibes!

Like most reviewers, I found this spot after a day hiking around Cold Spring. It hit the spot perfectly. I had a great seasonal beer on tap and a black bean burger that was delicious. The bar was low-​key, but friendly and a nice spot to watch the last World Series game. I will definitely come back on my next venture to the CS area.

We came down here after a long day of a 19 mi. hike, exhausted and rather dirty from all the dirt. When we walked in, the owner seemed like he was used to getting hikers and had a very welcoming smile.
We ordered the veggie burgers which came with fries. They were amazing!
We ordered margaritas as well which were also very very very good. I think we ended up having about 5.
Amazing service and amazing clean, good real food here.

Doug and our other waitresses were extremely nice and attentive – loved coming to a small town after being in NYC for a few weeks and receiving hospitality again! We did have to wait way, way too long for our food, but it seemed like a 2-​man run show so I don’t blame them for it. Every other lunch place in the town had huge lines, so I guess it’s normal for a weekend lunch! I ordered a veggie burger, which was one of the best I’ve ever had and chock filled with delicious ingredients. My sweet potato fries were divine also. Not a huge fan of the sauce that came with everything, and the burger was very large so I felt a little sick finishing the whole thing, but otherwise a nice little joint in Cold Springs.

Solid pub food, great service, and thrilled to see a veggie burger on the menu so far North of NYC. Definitely worth the stop on the way back to the train after a long day of hiking.

My friends and I stopped here before going on a hike. We were hoping to go to another brunch spot in town but the line was insanely long so we came here. Thank goodness we did! I was expecting typical pub food, which is fine, but we were greeted with extremely nice and artisanal bar food. I ordered the veggie burger, which was clearly made in house and not a frozen burger. It had so much flavor and was just incredible. My friends ordered the chicken kabobs, regular burger, and nachos. Everyone enjoyed their food. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Prices were very reasonable! The bar was very clean and had an old world pub feel too it. Hammered tin walls and ceiling, pictures of Cold Spring and the Hudson on the walls, long tables. Loved this place. Glad we couldn’t make it to the brunch spot! There are hilarious signs inside and outside of the pub to great you. Doug himself was there!

My boyfriend and I stopped here after a very long hike. The food and drinks were average casual pub fare but hit the spot for the hot day. I think they have a great selection of beers but I’m not much of a beer drinker so I wouldn’t really know. But really the best part was the service.
We didn’t realize how far away we were from our car and thought we would just take a taxi from town to get back to where our car was. Apparently in this small town there are no taxis. So we were overheated and exhausted and we were going to have to walk two miles when the owner of the pub offered to drive us to our car, which we graciously accepted. He saved our day and went way above and beyond what it means to provide good service. Thank you Doug! You were super sweet!

Doug is the man, extremely kind and down to earth. Star was our bartender, she makes a perfect vodka/​club and even recommended an IPA my boyfriend had never tried before (which is rare). We got there later so the kitchen was closed but Star hooked it up with some pretzels. If you’re visiting the area or just cruising Main Street definitely stop by. Doug’s is a pretty good pub that will supply you with a pretty hungover morning.

What a great place! Stopped in for some beers and hot dogs and fell in love. We came up for the day from the city and it was great. By far, the establishments greatest attraction is the goddess of a bartender named Star! This place should be called Star’s pretty good pub!

After a long hot day of exploring Cold Spring, a cold craft beer at Doug’s was just the ticket! Has that real friendly, local, low key vibe. We were lucky enough to find Doug there too — top bloke! And a shout out to Starr the barkeep — she’s a gem!

Come for the craft beer, stay for the company. If you are rolling through town, Doug’s is the place you want to go to. The old saloon style bar has such an amazing charm and 1890s décor. Our bartender, Star was such a delight to talk to and had a lot of insider tips for what to do in the area and how to get around. It was so nice to sit and chat with other travelers in a fun, laid back environment. The pool table is a huge plus, too. Overall, this was a great local bar, which ill be sure to visit anytime I’m in town.

If you looking for a no frills pub, here’s your spot. They have a couple of tables and a pool table in the back. The beer was cold, and the burger was good. Not exactly the type of place to bring the whole family, but its a good spot after hiking. The owner seems like he is always there, and he is always looking to talk. Overall, a decent local watering hole.
